Meet Somi – A Tiny Girl Who Has Been Through So Much

Rescue Story
At just 2.5 kg, little Somi has already been through more than most dogs ever should.
She was found alone in an apartment complex and eventually ended up at a municipal shelter. After coming into rescue care, Somi faced a long medical journey. She underwent surgery on both knees for luxating patellas, followed by another surgery on her left knee. She was later found to have a torn cruciate ligament in her left hind leg and had to undergo yet another major surgery.
After multiple surgeries and a long period of recovery and rehabilitation, Somi has finally completed her treatment and is ready to move on to the next chapter of her life — finding a family of her own.
Despite everything she has been through, Somi remains an incredibly affectionate and trusting little girl who simply loves being close to people.
Personality & People
Somi is wonderfully friendly and affectionate. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubbing against them and welcoming affection. She likes men as well and is comfortable being picked up and held.
She is so trusting with people that she may even roll over and show her belly to someone she has just met. Given the choice between spending time with people or other dogs, Somi will almost always choose people.
With Other Dogs
Somi will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello but generally isn’t interested in actively playing with them. She tends to prefer dogs around her size or smaller and currently enjoys spending time with one smaller canine friend.
High-energy dogs can be overwhelming for her, and she usually chooses to move away rather than engage if another dog bothers or challenges her. Overall, she is gentle and non-confrontational with other dogs.
With Cats
Somi has lived with a cat for several days and did very well, with no issues observed.
Energy Level
Somi has a low energy level and loves nothing more than finding a soft, cozy place to relax. A person’s lap, a cushion, or a fluffy blanket is her favorite place to be.
Walking
Because much of Somi’s recent life has been spent undergoing surgeries, recovering, and completing rehabilitation, she hasn’t yet had much opportunity to experience regular walks.
At Home
Somi does not guard food from people or other dogs.
She currently does not show severe separation anxiety, although she can become very attached to her person. When she first arrived in a home environment, she stayed quietly on her own, but as she became more bonded with her caregiver, she began barking or whining more when separated.
She may also bark when she wants something or when another dog bothers her while she is being held.
Somi settles calmly in a kennel and currently uses both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty areas.
After everything this tiny girl has been through, Somi is finally ready for the simple things she deserves — a warm lap, a soft bed, and a family to call her own.
