You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hello I was having a rough time where I lived.  My mom escaped the abuse and thankfully my mommy said I needed a better life too so I came to 'The Ranch'  It is FUN!!!  I run in the play yards and I can sniff all day-the other dogs are really fun!!  Now lets be real.  I'm a coonhound so if you are a couch potato forget it!   I'm smart as a whip and can open doors that have handles if I really want to. Hi my name is Maverick.  I am an 8 month old Beagle Tree Walker Coonhound mix who weighs about 50 lbs.  I am currently living in rural middle Tennessee and am 'sort of' in trouble with my family.  We previously lived in a neighborhood but recently moved out in the country.  I am a super sweet and very loving boy.  I love people and am great with other dogs.  BUT in our new home there are these white things that walk around on two legs.  I like them too.  They are fun to chase and I got it trouble for that.  'STOP CHASING THE CHICKENS' is what I heard when I knew I was in trouble.  For that reason I need to find a new home.   I am sorry but I can't help it.  After all I am a mix of two hunting dogs.  I am ready to pack my bags.  Hopefully that will be to your house.  I am looking for an active home with another big young dog so that I have someone to play with.  I also need a fenced in yard so I don't get in any more trouble.  I currently live with a toddler and am very patient with her.  So you don't have to worry about that.  If you are looking for a big, goofy boy who will love you to pieces and give you plenty of kisses, then you have found him.  I am current on all my shots, neutered and microchipped.  I am ready to travel to my forever home.  To be considered for Maverick's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne directly at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Maverick is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)December 10, 2023, 6:55 pm

We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! We have had Walker for 1 1/2 years. He was given to us from someone who found him abandoned. We just don’t have a yard or area he can run and be free. He is a lovable dog and we hate to give him up but he just wants to run and play. We are Middle Aged and just can’t do it all the time. He stays in a crate during the day while we are at work. He is neutered and up to date on his shots.
