Please contact foster parent at ebogart@winstead.comFive-year-old Kash (DOB 5/25/2018) is a happy go-lucky treeing walker coonhound mix. Kash is crate-trained, potty-trained and dog and cat friendly! Kash enjoys playing with squeaky toys, walking on greenways and chilling on the couch. Kash currently lives with two female dogs (lower energy) and has spent lots of time with one male cat. Kash was adopted from animal control as a puppy; however, on December 20, 2023, Kash found himself back at ACC through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, Kash returned to ACC heartworm positive and severely overweight. In January, Kash went into a foster home and prepared for heartworm treatment (2/28/24-2/29/24) which required a six-week crate rest. Now, Kash has completed his crate rest and is ready for his forever home! Kash is on a healthy diet and has managed to lose some weight. Kash will require a home dedicated to keeping him healthy. Kash would do well in a variety of settings, including an apartment. Kash likes his space at times and is not comfortable with people invading his space when he wants to rest so he would do better in a house without younger children. In terms of his health, he should be re-tested for heartworms in August of 2024 and he has a high likelihood of being heartworm negative. Kash does show signs of degenerative joint disease in both hips so while he loves walks, he is not well-suited for higher-intensity activity. I love having Kash as a foster, and I am excited for him to find his forever home!

My name is Winnie and I am anything but an 'old lady'.   I may be 7 years old and carrying a few extra pounds....63 to be exact, but I am a sharp cookie who is ready to help you drive around in your car and I will even stay quiet and not be a backseat driver.  I love car rides and I am ready to go at the drop of a hat.  I won't bore you with the rough circumstances I have come from.  What I really want to talk about with you is how sweet and loving and devoted I will be if you make me your girl.  You see, I am a breed that not a lot of people know to consider or go looking for.  I am a beautiful, mature, quiet Treeing Walker Coonhound.  When you look at the video attached to my post, you will see that I bark less than the girl dog who lives at the foster home permanently.  I say my say and I am brief.  I really know my house manners and I am just perfectly happy laying around in the kitchen if you are there, or the sofa if you are in the room, or even at the feet of my wonderful foster mom while she works in her home office.  I am the easiest companion dog you will ever find.  I am around two adorable children who are 10 years and younger.  I love them and they think I am pretty terrific too.  I have an idea.  If you are a retired couple and you want a walking buddy, then choose me!  If you want a dog that you can trust your grandchildren of any age, then choose me! Story

Oliver is a very sweet dog! He is very much a people dog - he would sleep in my lap, play in my lap, always stay near me on our hikes in the woods. He is cuddly and eager to please. He gets along well with other dogs and, if my cat would have allowed it, cats too. As a normal 4-month old puppy he is mouthy. He tends to bite down hard and will need training to learn how to properly play with people. He is a teething puppy. He is not yet house trained. Oliver is definitely a scent dog - on our hikes his nose is always to the ground and he found lots of goodies (ugh) in the woods. He slept in a crate at night and, once we were out of sight, was quiet until morning. We are taking applications for him at this time. Once it is time we will go over all of the applications and pick the first qualified application for their personality and needs. Please remember we cannot guarantee size of any puppy when full grown.
