Story

Daisy was found at a sawmill, pregnant. She was picked up by a shelter and then taken in by a rescue. After she had her puppies, she was adopted by her current family. They tried for a year but were not able to get her to accept their teen son as part of the family. She loves her people but prefers only animal siblings. She has been around cats with great success. Her first foster had dogs and they said she was fine with them however, she hasn't been around other dogs for a year. She is very sweet and loving. Enjoys walks and napping on the couch with her people. She seems to feel most comfortable with women but will warm up to men. She would do best with a family that doesn't entertain a lot.

Izzy is a 5 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound/Rottweiler mix. We adopted her as a puppy and have been her only home. She is a sweet girl who loves people. We have another dog that she gets along well with but we are not sure how she would do with another dog in the home. She can be skittish around new dogs. We have 2 small children that she has grown up around, she mostly ignores them but can become annoyed if they are in her space occasionally. Mainly if she is lounging around and doesn’t want to be approached. So she probably needs a home without small children. Izzy loves to be active and is very smart. Activity toys are usually no match for her as she solves them so quickly. She has allergies and anxiety and is currently on medication for both. She also has prescription food and treats for a food allergy. All that we can send with her. She’s a loving dog who will make a great addition to a home that can give her more attention than we are able to anymore

I’m Bibby, a dashing Treeing Walker Coonhound/terrier mix with a big personality that will keep you always entertained.I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services, where I had been surrendered by my owners. My estimated birth date is June 2020.Sadly, I haven’t experienced stability in my life, which can make me wary when I meet new people. I just need a little extra time to get to know you, and then you’ll find out I’m a serious love bug, very sweet and affectionate.I’m the sporty type – I love being out in nature and I love water. There’s nothing like a good hike with my people. I’m a true companion dog! (But don’t get me wrong, lounging on the couch sounds wonderful, too.)I’m a big, high-energy boy (about 65 to 70 pounds), so I would do best in a home with no small children and no other pets. I would love to have an active family that would help me manage my energy. While visiting a high kill county shelter so full dogs were in overflow crates, we spotted Howie and knew we had to come back if we found a foster. Thankfully when someone saw his precious face and short little legs, they offered to foster and Howie officially joined TFDH! Howie is estimated to be 9-10 months old. He definitely is part basset hound with his long stocky build and but given his narrow head we think he's part dachshund which would explain his smaller size (currently 29 pounds). He also has a ravenous appetite so he may have some beagle in him too (DNA test pending). Add all of those together and no doubt Howie is a handful - he's a busy bee and takes advantage of freedom. He is not a couch potato! Howie is dominantly playful with large & small dogs, sleeps soundly in his crate, is housebroken and walks well on a leash. He is always on alert and can be rather vocal to alert his people! For this reason a home with shared walls (apartment or townhome) isn’t ideal. We've discovered Howie LOVES watching tv and he even uses those big paws to paddle around a baby pool to stay cool in the summer heat. He doesn't particularly love to share his food or toys and he does eagerly takes treats so an adult only home would be best. Adopters will need to be understanding that Howie has some “finishing” to do and would benefit from professional training classes. He is up to date on core vaccinations, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and has been neutered and microchipped. Howie’s adoption fee is $300 which includes his neuter. Story

Truffle is a 5-year-old beagle-mix sweetheart who has been a beloved part of our family since she was a puppy. She is very well trained, and is incredibly affectionate. Truffle absolutely loves going for walks, cuddling on the couch, and being close to her people. She has brought us comfort, companionship, and joy through so many stages of our lives. Why we are rehoming her: This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional decision for our family. Last summer we became parents and our child is now a toddler which has added a level of chaos into the home (touching, yelling, moving erratically) which isn’t allowing her to thrive as she deserves. We feel in our heart that she would do better in a home free of small children - we know she would do amazing in a home with adults and/or teenagers. Although this breaks our heart, we know it is the kindest thing we can do, as our home environment no longer fits her needs. We are happy to meet prospective owners and answer any questions!
