Story
- Jake is a sweet senior boy who’s looking for a soft spot to land- He has arthritis but his mobility is improving after starting arthritis medication since arriving at the shelter - He is slow and easy on the leash - Could use some TLC for his skin- Spends a lot of his day sleeping in his kennel so I’m sure he’d love a cozy home to sleep- Finds himself at the shelter through no fault of his own as his previous owner was dealing with housing instability

* PLEASE CONTACT MY FOSTER AT: chuckandliztaylor@gmail.com *Astraea is a happy girl despite what she’s been through early in life. When we first got her, she was shy and timid, and scared of noise, but now that she’s in a home environment, she’s coming out of her shell more and learning that she doesn’t need to be afraid.Dog/ cat friendly- She’s great with dogs of all sizes and has never shown aggression toward them. She sniffs other dogs politely while out in public and doesn’t bark or howl to meet them, even though she’s still a puppy. She’s respectful of cats and isn’t fixated on them, pretty much ignores them.Very quiet while outside even if she hears noises or other dogs barking will not react. Potty training- We’re actively working on this and she’s improved a lot, but she still has occasional accidents, so she’ll need continued training.Walking leash manners- She’s doing a lot better after taking her out every day, less pulling. Crate trained- She sleeps at night in a covered crate, and during the day she has free run of the house but loves to nap in her crate during the day. She’s a deep sleeper and can sleep most of the day. She does have a startled sleep response: if she’s woken abruptly by a dog, she will bark out of fear (this doesn’t happen with people, only other dogs/cats if woken up by them abruptly). It could be a combo of her skin condition as well which is currently being treated for. Having a covered crate she can freely come and go from has really helps her feel safe and calm when sleeping. This reaction should fade with time knowing she no longer has to feel uncertainty and fear. She will do great with someone patient and understanding of her past trauma. She’s a sweet, gentle girl who is learning how to feel safe again and would love to be part of a family. She’s funny, loves rolling around in blankets, enjoys occasional play with other dogs, and loves treats always very gentle when taking them.

Story
Adopt Mango! Location: Charleston, SC (foster) Mango is a stunning Treeing Walker Coonhound with a huge heart and an even bigger love for people and other dogs. She is a friendly, playful girl who would thrive in an active home and would especially love having a confident, welcoming dog buddy to run, play, and learn from. With medium to high energy, Mango enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and interactive play with her people. Once she has had her fun, she is all about the snuggles and will happily settle in for some cuddle time. She loves toys, enjoys engaging with her humans, and is learning her crate routine. Treats definitely help. Mango is doing great with potty training and continues to learn the ropes in foster care. She is fully vetted, around one year old, and weighs about 45 pounds of lean hound goodness. Mango is ready for a home that will give her the exercise, affection, and love she deserves. If you are looking for a playful adventure buddy who also doubles as a cuddle companion, Mango might be your girl.

Story
I’m Bibby, a dashing Treeing Walker Coonhound/terrier mix with a big personality that will keep you always entertained.I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services, where I had been surrendered by my owners. My estimated birth date is June 2020.Sadly, I haven’t experienced stability in my life, which can make me wary when I meet new people. I just need a little extra time to get to know you, and then you’ll find out I’m a serious love bug, very sweet and affectionate.I’m the sporty type – I love being out in nature and I love water. There’s nothing like a good hike with my people. I’m a true companion dog! (But don’t get me wrong, lounging on the couch sounds wonderful, too.)I’m a big, high-energy boy (about 65 to 70 pounds), so I would do best in a home with no small children and no other pets. I would love to have an active family that would help me manage my energy. I love to be on the go exploring, and a fenced yard would be a big plus.If you’re looking for an affectionate hunk who will always be ready for adventure with you, we need to meet!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    Hi, I’m Mickey! I came to the rescue after running out of time at an overcrowded shelter, and while my rescue family takes amazing care of me, I’m so ready for a place to call my own. I hold the title of Longest Resident, which just means I’ve been saving up years' worth of love, tail wags, and snuggles just for you! Don't let my size fool you—I am a 100% certified lap dog. If you sit down on the couch, I’ll be right there trying to fit my whole self into your lap for cuddles. My Favorite Things: The Great Backyard Snack Hunt: I have a world-class nose! Toss some treats into the grass, and I promise I’ll track down every single one. Yard Time: I love running around, playing, and soaking up the sunshine. Tough Toys: Soft plushies tend to... well, mysteriously explode and leave stuffing everywhere when I play with them. Tough rubber and heavy-duty chew toys are definitely my jam! Snuggle Time: Did I mention I love to cuddle? Because I really, really do. My Ideal Forever Home: I am fully housebroken and crate-trained, making me an easy addition to a routine! Because I like a calm, predictable environment, here is what my dream home looks like:  Dog Siblings: I’ve made some great medium and large doggy friends at the rescue! I’m open to having a dog brother or sister, but we’ll need to do a mandatory meet-and-greet first to make sure our personalities click.  No Small Pets or Kids: I’m not a fit for homes with small/toy dogs, cats, or young children. "Do you have room on your couch—or in your lap—for a big boy with an even bigger heart?" If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving best friend who will greet you with endless happiness every single day, I'm your guy! Apply to adopt Mickey today and help end my long wait! â¤ï¸ TV If you are interested in adopting me please submit an application at https://www.arrfnc.com/info/adoption my adoption fee is $150      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Hi.
