When we first got her, she was shy and timid, and scared of noise, but now that she’s in a home environment, she’s coming out of her shell more and learning that she doesn’t need to be afraid.Dog/ cat friendly- She’s great with dogs of all sizes and has never shown aggression toward them. She sniffs other dogs politely while out in public and doesn’t bark or howl to meet them, even though she’s still a puppy. She’s respectful of cats and isn’t fixated on them, pretty much ignores them.Very quiet while outside even if she hears noises or other dogs barking will not react. Potty training- We’re actively working on this and she’s improved a lot, but she still has occasional accidents, so she’ll need continued training.Walking leash manners- She’s doing a lot better after taking her out every day, less pulling. Crate trained- She sleeps at night in a covered crate, and during the day she has free run of the house but loves to nap in her crate during the day. She’s a deep sleeper and can sleep most of the day. She does have a startled sleep response: if she’s woken abruptly by a dog, she will bark out of fear (this doesn’t happen with people, only other dogs/cats if woken up by them abruptly). It could be a combo of her skin condition as well which is currently being treated for. Having a covered crate she can freely come and go from has really helps her feel safe and calm when sleeping. This reaction should fade with time knowing she no longer has to feel uncertainty and fear. She will do great with someone patient and understanding of her past trauma. She’s a sweet, gentle girl who is learning how to feel safe again and would love to be part of a family. She’s funny, loves rolling around in blankets, enjoys occasional play with other dogs, and loves treats always very gentle when taking them.

She is a friendly, playful girl who would thrive in an active home and would especially love having a confident, welcoming dog buddy to run, play, and learn from. With medium to high energy, Mango enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and interactive play with her people. Once she has had her fun, she is all about the snuggles and will happily settle in for some cuddle time. She loves toys, enjoys engaging with her humans, and is learning her crate routine. Treats definitely help. Mango is doing great with potty training and continues to learn the ropes in foster care. She is fully vetted, around one year old, and weighs about 45 pounds of lean hound goodness. Mango is ready for a home that will give her the exercise, affection, and love she deserves. I’m Bibby, a dashing Treeing Walker Coonhound/terrier mix with a big personality that will keep you always entertained.I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services, where I had been surrendered by my owners. My estimated birth date is June 2020.Sadly, I haven’t experienced stability in my life, which can make me wary when I meet new people. I just need a little extra time to get to know you, and then you’ll find out I’m a serious love bug, very sweet and affectionate.I’m the sporty type – I love being out in nature and I love water. There’s nothing like a good hike with my people. I’m a true companion dog! (But don’t get me wrong, lounging on the couch sounds wonderful, too.)I’m a big, high-energy boy (about 65 to 70 pounds), so I would do best in a home with no small children and no other pets. I would love to have an active family that would help me manage my energy. Everyone loves a Beagle and Dean is no exception to being a Beagle that especially needs love and some much needed personal guidance.  This 3 year old Beagle boy is 31 pounds and pretty much ALL Beagle.  But he needs someone to color inside the lines and shape him into an exceptional fellow that we know he is capable of being.  He was found as a stray with his brother and at this stage of life he is a blank canvas that needs polishing and molding.  Dean is healthy and thankfully heartworm negative.  True to form this boy is full of energy and lots of hunting instincts that cannot be denied.  His mind and body and tail are always busy wagging and exploring his outdoor environment.  Fortunately despite being abandoned and found as a stray, this boy is friendly with humans, kids and other dogs are welcome new friends to discover for him.  This  boy Dean can accept AND give love generously and without hesitation.  And he needs a fenced yard that he cannot escape.  He will test you at first on that fencing thing but you as the human are smarter than him.  Secure the yard well and then no problem.  He is good on a leash and knows the sit commands only. Meet Chance Some dogs are given a name that fits them perfectly, and Chance is one of them. This sweet 5-year-old Beagle mix received his name because he was given a second chance at life—and he has embraced it with his whole heart. Chance came from a hoarding/ animal abuse case where his owners were consequently arrest, arrested.  Despite everything he's been through, Chance has never lost his love for people. His tail still wags, his eyes still light up when he sees you, and he still believes that his forever family is out there waiting for him. Chance is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. He loves attention, enjoys spending time with his people, and has a gentle, loving personality that makes it impossible not to fall in love with him. He is a little on the chubby side at 56lbs and loves to be a couch potato, though we have put him on an exercise regimen and a diet.  Chance is currently heartworm positive, but that doesn't define who he is. He is receiving treatment and deserves the comfort of a loving home while he completes his journey to recovery. His future is bright, and all he needs now is someone willing to give him the love and security he has always deserved.Chance was given a second chance at life.
