Adopt Mango! Location: Charleston, SC (foster) Mango is a stunning Treeing Walker Coonhound with a huge heart and an even bigger love for people and other dogs. She is a friendly, playful girl who would thrive in an active home and would especially love having a confident, welcoming dog buddy to run, play, and learn from. With medium to high energy, Mango enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and interactive play with her people. Once she has had her fun, she is all about the snuggles and will happily settle in for some cuddle time. She loves toys, enjoys engaging with her humans, and is learning her crate routine. Treats definitely help. Mango is doing great with potty training and continues to learn the ropes in foster care. She is fully vetted, around one year old, and weighs about 45 pounds of lean hound goodness. Mango is ready for a home that will give her the exercise, affection, and love she deserves. If you are looking for a playful adventure buddy who also doubles as a cuddle companion, Mango might be your girl.

Story
I’m Bibby, a dashing Treeing Walker Coonhound/terrier mix with a big personality that will keep you always entertained.I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services, where I had been surrendered by my owners. My estimated birth date is June 2020.Sadly, I haven’t experienced stability in my life, which can make me wary when I meet new people. I just need a little extra time to get to know you, and then you’ll find out I’m a serious love bug, very sweet and affectionate.I’m the sporty type – I love being out in nature and I love water. There’s nothing like a good hike with my people. I’m a true companion dog! (But don’t get me wrong, lounging on the couch sounds wonderful, too.)I’m a big, high-energy boy (about 65 to 70 pounds), so I would do best in a home with no small children and no other pets. I would love to have an active family that would help me manage my energy. I love to be on the go exploring, and a fenced yard would be a big plus.If you’re looking for an affectionate hunk who will always be ready for adventure with you, we need to meet!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Hi! I’m Phoebe! I’m a petite little girl who loves to play! I’m a little shy when I first meet you. But give me a minute and we will be best buds! I love to smell around the yard so if you have a fenced in yard, we should talk 😊. I ride amazingly in a car. Walking ….that’s a different story. Walking around in unfamiliar places.

Story
Buddy has the potential to be a very good dog. He bonded with my wife as a puppy since she worked from home. He views her as the Alpha. She does not have it in her to take on that role. He is now over two years old, and I am no longer comfortable with his steady but mild aggression towards me, as the obvious Alpha of the house. We would love to find him a good home that could offer him a large yard to give him lots of exercise. We have just shy of one acre of land and he loves to roam and explore. He does bark at anybody that comes onto the property but is not overly aggresive. He makes his presence known but does not attack. In my opinion, he is doing his job as a dog. We have a neighborhood teenager who cuts through our property to walk to work. Buddy "greats" him every time. He barks but follows him to the edge of the property, as if saying "I'm here and I see you". He just needs the right family to join.

Story
Meet Dixie Chick This lovely 6-8-year-old coonhound is the definition of sweet southern charm! Dixie Chick was rescued from a high-kill shelter on her “last day,” and she’s been thankful for every cozy couch nap since. Dixie is a gentle soul who loves her stuffed animals — she treats them like her babies and keeps them close at all times. While she’s mostly a laid-back lady, her hound nose can still get her going when she catches a good scent! She’s crate trained and settles down quickly after a few minutes of letting you know she’s there (classic hound behavior!). She even sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate. We do recommend crating her when you’re away — if she smells something tasty, she’ll go on a little “treasure hunt.” Like many seniors, Dixie will need a mid day potty break if you are working all day. This sweet girl is just looking for a loving home where she can snooze on the couch, snuggle her stuffies, and enjoy her golden years feeling safe and adored.
