Meet Dorothy- a Treeing Walker Coonhound mama ready for her turn to be the baby. This girl came from a hard situation. She was confined in a metal toolbox in the sun without food or water, and a chain left on so long it became embedded in her waist. Her owner made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her- he wasn't willing to give her the care or the second chance she deserved, so she needs us to find her the home he never gave her. She recently finished raising a litter of puppies, who have all found their own homes, and now it's her turn to just be a dog and get all the attention for herself. She wants to be near her person at all times and will happily curl up on the couch with you for hours. She's pretty easygoing- good with other dogs, curious and gentle with cats, and has been wonderful with kids of all ages. Clancy is a 1 year old Bluetick Coonhound with a whole lot of personality and a coat that stops people in their tracks. Where you'd expect black on a typical coonhound, she's got blue instead- soft grey-blue ticking throughout with tan markings, long floppy ears, and big brown eyes to complete the look. She's one of a kind, and not just because of the coat. Clancy is house trained, crate trained, and great with kids. She's a big fan of other dogs and she plays like someone who knows exactly how lucky she is to feel good and be safe. Give her a minute to settle in and you get the good stuff- a genuinely great smile, a full body wiggle the second her kennel door opens, and an enthusiastic (if slightly dishonest) approach to tug o war. She also loves to run everywhere, which makes sense for a girl who's got no time to waste and a whole lot of living to catch up on. Before landing in foster, Clancy survived an overcrowded shelter where she picked up a bad case of kennel cough that left her sick and miserable for a stretch. She's fully recovered now and feeling like herself, determined to have a good day every single day. She's currently in foster in Tulsa, OK and ready to find her foster or forever home- transport available, adoptable anywhere in the country. helplesshounds.com/adopt
