Story
Today we have Ollie, a young strapping man who LOVES kids and other dogs of all sizes.  One of those guys who doesn't know exactly how big he is but makes up for his clumsiness in cuddles.  Great a helping clean the kitchen counters and floor (food driven) or training others to keep them clean, enjoys laundry day (warm towels and sheets are the best), is even a great singer!  Ollie will greet you slippers in mouth when you get home, maybe a blanket some days.  Don't let this sweetie pie get away! Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##1625038##

Story
Meet Rudolph, He was days away from being put to sleep at a high kill shelter in North Carolina! This handsome guy was discarded as a hunting dog and left for animal control to pick him up running loose, without a place to call home. When no one came forward Rudolph quickly found himself on the urgent list. To make matters worse, Rudolph was heartworm positive. Thanks to a very dedicated foster family, Rudy's life was spared. They agreed to take him in until he found a good home. His heartworms have been treated and he is well on his way to recovery! While in foster care, the family discovered he is a very sweet boy and enjoys laying around in his dog bed. He also enjoys the great outdoors, so a fenced in backyard would be ideal for him to safely enjoy some fresh air! We recommend Rudolph go to a home without other dogs or dog's that are dominant like him. He is NOT aggressive with other dogs; he just likes to be the boss. He will need an understanding family that can work with him! We don't think this hound dog should go to a home with cats. If you are interested in this beautiful boy, please submit an application to be contacted! His foster home is currently located in North Carolina, but arrangements will be made for an approved adopter. APPLY HERE: https://form.jotform.com/230176841172150

Story
ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND. Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when we was not longer wanted to hunting. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house traing and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude. (We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.) A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Meet Bubba! This good natured, goof ball is ready for a home to call his own! He adores being the center of attention and lives to make is humans happy. He's a very good boy who would be a wonderful addtional to almost any family. Bubba is crate and house trained and has good house manners. He won't tear up your shoes or steal your leftover pizza off the counter....but he won't turn down a bite if you offer it to him. I mean, look that bod! He is good on leash and easy to walk around the block or on a hike. He's in a foster home with lots of other dogs and is great with almost all of them! In his free time, he enjoys sitting on the couch watching cooking shows. We know that Bubba is a good boy and hope there is an adopter out there who will see it too! Bubba has been waiting for over a year to be chosen. A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Bubba, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Story
Hi! I'm Spaghetti! I am a happy girl. I am housebroken and quiet when I am inside. I am very attentive when anyone is in the kitchen because I am very food motivated, like a typical hound. I like the other dogs on the farm, some bigger than me, some smaller than me. I usually ignore the cats but I'm game if they want to play. I know how to walk on a leash too. I am spayed and ready for my forever home.

***SEEKING MEDICAL FOSTER TO PAMPER AND SPOIL PETER WHILE HE UNDERGOES HEARTWORM TREATMENT!!!!*** Meet Peter a sweet little Beagle boy who is around 4 years of age! Peter came to us as a stray. This little nugget was dirty, stinky and underweight! Peter has had a much needed spa day and with the help of several meals and lots of treats he is putting on the weight he desperately needed. Peter was neutered and when we did his Heartworm test he was POSITIVE for Heartworms. Peter has begun the Treatment and would benefit from a Foster while he continues the process. Peter was a stray so he will need a little extra TLC and patience when it comes to settling into a house and learning the potty routine! Peter has done well with other dogs and really no interest in the cat room! Peter has been neutered, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention. Story
**BEING TREATED FOR LYME DISEASE AND EHRLICHEA Sweet Brian came in as a stray along with another dog. This handsome 4-6 year old beagle boy was having a grand adventure running the streets taking in ALL the wonderful smells! Brian is a nervous boy that needs a stable and patient home to help him find the confidence he is lacking with new situations! He was a stray so we do not know how he is in a home environment so a potential adopter may need to work with him on potty training. He has done fine with the dogs that he has met and has not had any issues in our cat room. Brian is neutered, microchipped and is current on all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention. ***SEEKING MEDICAL FOSTER TO LOVE AND CUDDLE JOHNNY WHILE HE UNDERGOES HEARTWORM TREATMENT!!!!*** Meet our handsome boy, Johnny! This almost 25lb boy was running the streets with his buddy Walker. They were brought to the shelter as strays and NO ONE ever came looking for them! Johnny is a sweet 3ish year old Beagle that lives for anything that involves FOOD!!!!! Johnny does well with other dogs but was more interested in the cats food than the cats. Since he was a stray he will need help and patience in a new home learning the household potty routine. Johnny has been neutered and when we did his heartworm test, he was POSITIVE for heartworm disease. He has begun the treatment and would benefit from a foster home while he continues the process.
