Story
Personality:
Incredibly smart, playful, loyal, and fun, loving once he warms up. He is very food motivated and easy to train! He loves doing tricks for treats and is very protective of his family when he forms the attachment.
Donut is a little slow to warm with new people and animals but is doing well with a slow introduction. When meeting someone new, he does best when there is no eye contact and he can come to a new person on his own terms. Even though he might become anxious around new people and dogs on the walks, he thrives in a dog day care environment.
Education:
Fully bathroom crate without any accidents. He is crate trained, but it's not needed anymore.
Favorite Activities:
Playing, being challenged, jumping, wrestling. He enjoys doing tricks and commands for treats!
Looking For:
An active home would be best, and he would do well with or without kids. He needs a place where he can run a lot and would love to be the center of attention (he loves to be challenged/have a job!).

Just a Donut Searching for his Cup of Joe!
Hi pals, I’m Donut! I’m a 5-year-old, 50-pound Weimaraner/Pit mix with a big personality, a clever brain, and a personality that’s as sweet as my name implies. I’m neutered, healthy, fully vaccinated, and ready to find my happily ever after. I’ve been with my family for almost my whole life, but due to newly discovered family allergies, it’s time for me to find a new furever home.
I’m incredibly smart, loyal, playful, and—once I know you—very loving. I’m the kind of guy who loves having a job to do, especially if donuts… I mean, dog treats are involved! I’m highly food motivated and love learning tricks, being challenged, playing, jumping, wrestling, and generally keeping life interesting. Once I bond with my people, I’ll be your devoted shadow!
I’m a little more complicated than your average cup of Joe. I’m anxious around new people and animals, and that anxiety can come out as barking, lunging, or reactivity. I do best when new people give me space and let me approach them when I’m ready. Once I trust you, though, I really start to let that frosting melt! I’ve never bitten a person or another animal, and I’ve actually done wonderfully in dog daycare with dogs I know. With familiar dogs, I’m playful and love to wrestle. As a loyal canine, I can’t say the same for cats… team dog all the way!
I’m great with kids and have been incredibly patient with little ones, including accidental tail stepping and curious faces right in my nose. I especially love my nieces and nephews! I’m also fully house trained and have never had an accident in the house. I’m comfortable being left loose at home, no crate needed. I may get a little sad when you leave, but my “see you soon” cue helps me understand that you’re coming back. I’m also comfortable wearing a muzzle when needed.
My dream home would be active and willing to give me plenty of exercise, structure, training, and mental enrichment. A yard where I can run would be a huge bonus, and I’d love someone who enjoys teaching me new things. I can live with kids, but I’d do best with someone who understands my reactivity and is willing to give me the time and patience I need to feel safe.
