Story
Meet Meep! A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog currently in Oakland, CA, whose essence is a whirlwind of playful charm wrapped in a stunning merle coat and powered by puppy-sized curiosity. Meep is a big-hearted 90 pound pup with a big future! He’s the kind of companion who makes every day feel like recess, with boundless energy, a contagious grin, and a serious love for belly rubs. Meep lives for zooming around the yard, soaking up attention, and gleefully interacting with people and pups who appreciate his enthusiastic approach to life. This sweet boy is both crate trained and house-trained, making him a solid addition to a home that can offer him structure, consistency, and lots of active time. He’s mastered “sit” like a pro, especially when there’s a treat or belly scratch involved, and he’s incredibly tuned in to his humans, always eager to learn and please! While Meep is still working on leash manners (a little leash reactivity pops up now and then), with positive reinforcement and regular walks, he’s well on his way to being a stellar walking buddy. Meep gets along especially well with small dogs and adores young children, showing a gentle and goofy side that melts hearts. With larger dogs, he can be a bit much, especially if they’re not into his puppy playstyle, so a home where he's the only large do (or with tolerant, playful companions) would be a great fit. He would thrive in a space with a fenced yard where he can stretch those long legs and burn off some energy between cuddle sessions. Playful, affectionate, and endlessly trainable, Meep is looking for a guardian who understands the joy (and the challenge) of raising a big, bouncy pup. He needs someone ready to guide him with kindness, keep him engaged, and enjoy the ride of watching him grow into the loyal, loving dog he’s meant to be. Are you ready to meet the happy whirlwind that is Meep and help him write his next great adventure? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com today!

Story
Meet Charli! A radiant one-and-a-half-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix currently in San Rafael, CA, whose spirit is as vibrant and speckled as her stunning blue leopard coat. With her bright eyes and endlessly wagging tail, Charli is a dazzling combination of brains, beauty, and boundless heart! Charli is the kind of pup who listens closely, literally cocking her head when you speak, as if she's trying to learn every word. She already knows commands like sit, wait, paw, come, lay down, and even a solid “no.” This clever girl thrives on engagement and loves being part of daily life. Whether she's going for a brisk hike, a playful romp with another dog, or a tug-of-war showdown with her favorite rope toy, Charli is always eager for fun and connection. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and spayed, ready to move in and start her next adventure! Her days currently begin with breakfast at sunrise and a good walk to stretch those strong legs and curious nose. While she's content in her crate at night or for short absences, Charli truly shines when she has companionship, especially the kind that includes belly rubs, puzzle toys, and a furry friend to play chase with in a fenced yard. Though she may come across as vocal when spotting other dogs on walks, her wagging tail and playful posture say, “Let’s be friends!” With proper introductions, she’s shown she enjoys doggie pals and would love to share her new home with a canine buddy who matches her energy and friendliness. She's also wonderful with older kids (10+), and her gentle, affectionate nature makes her a delightful cuddle buddy after a day full of activity. Charli is looking for a family who shares her love of the outdoors, her need for daily mental and physical stimulation, and her desire to be a true companion. Could your pack be the one she's been waiting for? If you're ready to meet this affectionate adventurer, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! Charli’s heart is open, who will she share it with next?

Story
Meet Judo! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed currently living in Bend, OR, whose heart is as big as his love for adventure. With his striking white coat sprinkled with black patches and a galaxy of tiny spots, Judo is as unique in appearance as he is in personality. Whether he's sprinting through the trails, keeping pace on a long run, or stretching out for a lazy day indoors, this adaptable boy is happiest when he’s with his favorite people! Judo is a true athlete—he can easily run 10+ miles or tackle a rugged hike, yet he’s just as content lounging around the house. His energy is balanced by his affectionate side, and his idea of a perfect evening involves snuggling up with his favorite humans. He has excellent house manners, is fully house-trained, and even free-feeds, maintaining a healthy weight of 51 pounds. He sleeps soundly through the night (sometimes up to 14 hours!) and greets his people with the most enthusiastic tail wag imaginable! Judo thrives in an adult-only home where he can feel secure and at ease. After a stressful experience, he has become anxious around children and is looking for a home without young ones. His sensitivity heightened after he was attacked by another dog, which led to increased wariness in certain situations. He nipped a toddler when the child became more mobile, signaling that he was uncomfortable with unpredictable movements. Additionally, he has bitten two dogs near his home when he felt threatened, though he does well with other dogs in open spaces and enjoys a good romp. With the right introduction and a calm environment, he may enjoy the companionship of another dog. He’s a sensitive soul who bonds deeply with his people, and while he’s independent in some ways, he appreciates understanding and patience when it comes to things like nail trims and long car rides. He loves playing in the rain and snow, but isn’t a fan of going out in it when it’s time for him to go. His ideal guardian is active, experienced with dogs who have some anxiety, and willing to provide him with both exercise and a calm, structured environment. To make sure that Judo has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Judo has been a cherished companion for six years, and now he’s looking for a new loving home where he can continue to thrive. Could you be the one to give him that? If so, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this incredible dog!
