Story
Our big girl Zena is on the mend and finally ready to find her family! You may remember about a month ago we shared our sweet Weimaraner girl Zena’s story of loss and the health concerns she had. We are so excited to share the progress our sweet girl has made in such a short time! 💙💙💙 The BIGGEST part of Zena’s progress with us is how much weight she has lost! Zena was originally 107lbs, and she is down to 86! She still needs to lose about 15lbs to be at her ideal weight but 21lbs is a HUGE success! 💪🥰 She has been so happy with her twice daily walks with her foster and has even started asking for them if her foster is a few minutes late 😂. A couple weeks ago Zena underwent surgery to remove the mast cell tumor on her leg and to complete the dental work that she needed. We are thrilled to report that the surgery was a success - her tumor was removed with clean margins, pathology identified it as a low grade mast cell tumor, and there’s no need for any further medical treatment!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Zena’s stitches have now been removed and she’s been cleared to live a normal Weimaraner life! Zeens would do best in a home with another dog (bonus points for another Weim 🤪) and with owners who are home more often than not. She’s fine to be left alone as needed, but she will not do well in a home where she is alone often. She is the stereotypical Velcro Weim and she loves BIG, but we can’t blame her for that given how much she’s lost in her life. She’d love an active adopter who can keep her on track with her weight loss journey. Zena has a high prey drive, which isn’t even remotely surprising given her breed 😂. She has not been tested with cats, but given her prey drive, we do not recommend a home with cats. Zena is 7 year old female blue Weimaraner who is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She is fostered in Sarasota, Florida and her adoption fee is $300. Story
We are very excited to introduce our FSDA family to the NEW AND IMPROVED Brady!! 😍😍😍
You may remember back in June we shared our Weimie boy Brady for the first time. Brady had been taken to his family’s veterinarian to be euthanized after a scuffle another dog, and we are so thankful the doctor reached out after finding that he did not meet the criteria for a typical behavioral euthanasia. 🥹 We jumped at the opportunity to help him, and while we’d been warned that he was large, we were SHOCKED at just how large - Brady was 135lbs!! 🤯 After getting to know Brady, we realized that he needed a little extra help. He was very insecure, and he’d spent his life getting whatever he wanted and doing whatever he wanted without being told no, including resource guarding toys and bones. With his extreme size and strength, we knew the best way to ensure Brady’s long-term success was to enroll him in a board and train program with our best friends at FDF Canine Services 🙌🏽🐾. Brady has spent the last month in school, and WOW what a difference a month can make! Brady has made so much progress - both behaviorally and physically. He is down 25 pounds!!! He has learned to be more stable, thoughtful, and well-rounded, and we are seeing a much better version of the big guy we met when he first entered rescue. We knew he could be a great dog with the right help, and we are SO proud of him! Brady has officially graduated from school 🎓and the next step in his journey is to find his forever family! What we want for Brady looks something like this: 💙Adult only home 💙A quieter, more relaxed environment 💙Weimaraner or other similar breed experience 💙Other dogs are fine as long as proper introductions are made and the adopter commits to continuing proper management with resources 💙NO CATS 🐱🚫 Brady’s future family must be committed to continuing to work on the skills that he has learned in his training 💪. Training doesn’t end when the program ends, it is a lifelong commitment. Structure, consistency, patience, and continuing to work on the skills he has learned will be crucial to helping Brady continue to succeed and be the happy boy he now is. Our friends at FDF Canine Services have committed to working with Brady’s future family with in-person or virtual lessons (depending on the adopter’s location). We want his new family to feel confident and equipped to help Brady settle into his new life. 💙💙 Brady is a big guy with an even bigger personality, and everyone who meets him absolutely adores him! 😍. He has worked SO hard and has made SO much progress, and now we’re looking for the right person who will see the incredible dog he can be and give him the structure, patience, and commitment he deserves. Brady doesn’t need just any home, he needs the RIGHT home. And we know that home is out there! Brady is five years old, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He is here with us at Camp FSDA in Parrish, Florida and his adoption fee is $400. If you think you could be that right home for Brady, please send us an adoption application at the link below, or email us at info@flsportingdogalliance.org for more info! https://www.flsportingdogalliance.org/dog-adoption

Story
Weim lovers - Shadow needs a home! Shadow is a beautiful 6 year old girl looking for a forever family 🩶 About her: 🐕 6 years old - 79lbs 💕 Good with dogs; seems to do better with males but she is play grouped with females as well without issues 🐕 She walks great on a leash, but is a strong, large girl. 💕 LOVES her people more than anything Shadow is happiest when she's close to her humans (hence, her name). Whether you're relaxing at home, going for a walk or just hanging out in the backyard, she simply wants to be with you. What Shadow needs: * Someone home more often than not * Either a 6ft solid, non-climbable fence or no fence and to stay on a leash. She is currently in a kennel setting and will climb a fence just to follow humans and be with them. In a home, that may be different. Shadow is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is fostered in Sarasota and her adoption fee is $300. ➡️ www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt
