Name:  Byrd          Best Guess for Breed:   Whippet and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  7 months as of October 2025        SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  15 lbs as of 10/22/25 - she is both underweight at this weight and still growing.    Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here.    Byrd is Looking For:  Her forever home! Byrd is just out of the puppy phase and ready to be the cutest teenage doggo ever! She is eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures she can dream up. And dog school so she can show how super smart she is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together.  Most of all, though, she wants to know she is safe and loved. In exchange she promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags she can store up, and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is Byrd the one you see by your side? Story
Autumn is a sweet girl with a lot of energy and needs a fair amount of exercise. She is playful and enjoys active play. She loves to chase balls and sticks as well as ensure the back yard is free from squirrels. She is very sweet and loving and will sit on your lap 24/7 if you let her. Autumn is housebroken and crate trained and does very well in the crate overnight. She loves walks and rides well in the car. We have recently had a child and are no longer able to give her the attention she needs and deserves. Her ideal home would be one where the owners can devote the majority of their time with her.
