Story
Meet Shelby! She's an 18 month old, 14 lb, Yorkshire Terrier who joined us from the Humane Society of Yuma. She is residing at the adoption center, and looks forward to meeting you!No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

The pics make her look bigger than she actually is. She’s just a ball a fur. Ginger is 4 months old and weighs about 7lbs. She is a Yorkie /poodle mix. But I honestly she some Schitzu mix in her. She is doing great and getting comfortable with us. Will

The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react.Hi! My name is Kaylee, and I am a beautiful Yorkie who is 6 years old, and I weigh 11.3 pounds. I am just learning about this big new world so a sibling to help me learn the ropes would be ideal. I need a permanent, full time parent and no children in my new home, please. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Yorkie, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org.Love, Kaylee 121623-13  May 6, 2024, 4:06 pm

My name is Saginaw, and I am a beautiful Yorkie boy who is 7 years old, and I weigh 6 pounds. I am very shy so I would do best with a social, small dog in my new home to teach me the ropes. I am not potty trained or leash trained as I have lived in a breeding facility my entire life as a stud dog. I have to much to learn to be a normal dog. I need a home who will be very patient with me and teach me all about being a pet.   If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Yorkie, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org.
