Adult Yorkshire Terrier, 4 years old. Beau doesn’t think he’s a small dog—he is so brave with such a big heart. He’s a total lapdog one minute and a fierce little bodyguard the next. He responds very well to firm but gentle training using positive reinforcement and treats. He’s food motivated. He’ll gaze at you with soulful, loving eyes and follow you around all day. He loves hard, recklessly abandoning his sense of self in service to his person. He will also sleep with you if you allow him. Though he’s done well in a home with a small dog and cat, he’ll thrive as a solo pet living indoors. Escape artist—digs under fences. He may exhibit leash and barrier reactivity—hence recommending experienced adopter familiar with this breed. Beau is affectionate, brave, and loyal. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and loves car rides. He’d be the ideal companion for someone who works from home. Due to his small size, and risk of injury, he’s not recommended for homes with young children.

Story
Hi, This is Chapu. He is approximately 14 years old. He first came to us in June of last year, accompanied by his owner. Unfortunately, his owner passed away after a 4 year long battle with cancer about two weeks ago. We are currently looking to rehome him with a compassionate person. He has only ever had one owner since he was 6 months old. He is a cuddle bug and loves to be wrapped in a warm blanket next to people he loves. He is not very attentive to toys or treats. He likes going on walks and wants to accompany you everywhere! Before coming to us, last year...he was regularly groomed, visited the vet and vaccines were always up-to-date. Due to his age, he has a continence issue and has a hard time holding his urges. He requires frequent walks and plenty of sleep. Apart from that, he is a treat. He is very protective and caring to those he feels safe with. He gets along well with dogs - after some time. We are looking for someone compassionate and can dedicate time to him.

Hi this is Yogi. He’s a covid dog so he’s usually anxious around new people and new environments Ive been his only owner and Hes turning 5 this December. I had a baby recently and he spends most of the day in his cage and for this reason I want him to be rehomed somewhere with a nice back yard where he can run around he loves toys and kids. He never torn up any shoes or couches. He’s a fairly obedient dogs and knows a couple tricks but He needs to be trained to not pee/poop in the house but if he stays in his cage he won’t pee or poop in his cage. He to be walked at least 2-3 times a day . He’s lived with one other dog before but he wasn’t properly socialized with other , it took him over a year to get used to the dog. He’s a more protective than friendly dog. He’s territorial over food and he doesn't like to be pet on his belly. He eats Purina one once a day and he is cage trained. It pains me to give him away because i’m all he knows but i cant bare to give him a shelter.

Kerfuffle is an 11-pound, 9-year-old Yorkie mix. Though he’s a bit scared and cautious right now, with patience and kindness, Kerfuffle will warm up to you on his own terms. Once he trusts you, this sweet little guy will keep your lap warm and your hands busy because he loves belly rubs. He’s also a great snuggler and will keep you entertained with his charming personality. Kerfuffle needs a patient and loving home that can give him the time he needs to adjust and feel safe. He does have his momments when he is nippy, so no young children for him. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good.
