Story
Note: Special Needs Dog due to Behavior/Shyness. This dog is bonded and must be adopted with Pepe. Are you looking for a gorgeous dog? What about a very shy dog? If you answered yes to both of these questions, Chee Yoo could be the perfect dog for you. Chee Yoo is a beautiful, 5 yo medium/large female dog that came to Jelly's Place from South Korea in July 2021. Why has such a wonderful dog not been adopted yet? Read further to find out. Chee Yoo is very timid and nervous around people. She LOVES other dogs, and has become best friends with another Jelly's dog named Pepe. Pepe has a very similar personality to Chee Yoo and the two of them are like 2 peas in a pod. Chee Yoo can guard her food which is not surprising given where she came from. So, care needs to be taken with another dog when food, especially high value foods, are around. During her time at Jelly's Place, Chee Yoo has gone from hiding in the corner to taking daily walks on a leash. She is becoming more comfortable and confident, but still has a long way to go. She has learned to trust her primary caregiver, but is still not comfortable interacting with other people. Chee Yoo would do best in a calm, quiet home with dog experience and older or no children. Chee Yoo is NOT a dog for first time adopters. She needs adopters who are willing to be patient and to give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable, confident and loved. Another dog in the home is essential. and we prefer to keep Chee Yoo with her buddy Pepe. If you are interested in adopting Chee Yoo, we recommend that you come and spend time with her on several occasions so that she becomes comfortable with you. Chee Yoo is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted.

Story
Hello! We are reaching out in hopes of finding homes for two wonderful Akitas, Nikita and Goku, who are currently at the Hesperia Animal Shelter and will both be deadlined next week due to space restrictions. Nikita is a beautiful 3-year-old intact female Akita who has been at the shelter since mid-July. She is an incredibly sweet girl who is dog tolerant, completely potty trained, and keeps her kennel clean. She looks forward to her daily outings to the play yard and truly comes alive when she is able to get outside and spend time away from her kennel. Unfortunately, her extended shelter stay is beginning to take a toll on her, and she is becoming increasingly depressed in the kennel environment. Goku is an approximately 3-year-old male Akita and is truly the sweetest boy. He appears to be dog friendly, loves playing with toys, and walks well on a leash. He is affectionate, easy to spend time with, and would make a wonderful companion for the right home. Although Goku and Nikita did not come into the shelter together, they look so similar that they could almost be related. Our shelter is currently at full capacity, and unfortunately both Nikita and Goku are expected to receive deadlines next week due to the continued need for kennel space. We desperately want to see these two wonderful dogs get the opportunity they deserve. If you are able to help either Nikita, Goku, or both of them, or if you know of others that may be interested in adopting them, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Thank you for everything you can do to help make a difference for Nikita and Goku. For more information or to visit Nikita and Goku, please contact: Hesperia Animal Services 11011 Santa Fe Avenue East Hesperia, CA 92345 760-9471700 760-947-1712 fax Shelter Hours: Sunday and Monday - Closed Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
My name is Nike and I am a spayed female, black and white Akita and Siberian Husky. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 10-months old. I have been at the shelter since January 15, 2026 Meet Nike, the Akita Siberian Husky Mix! Nike arrived at the Shelter by no fault of her own – her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Nike has been described as energetic and friendly with people. She enjoys going for walks and runs. She’s lived with children ages 5, 8 and 9 years of age as well as teenagers and did well with them. She was crated when left alone for a few hours and was eager to reconnect with her family when they came home. Nike is a smart cookie and comes with a whole vocabulary of things she knows including: “sit”, “lay down”, “high five”, “shake”, “wait”, “slow down”, and “come here”. She would love to work her brain with her new family (and bond through positive reinforcement based training. Nike enjoys riding in the car on her way to adventures. She can be selective in her dog friends (liking some but not others) so if there are any resident dogs in the home, it would be recommended they meet prior to adoption. Nike's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Nike’s Animal ID is A327886 For more information about Nike or to meet her, please contact: Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter 1001 Rodriguez Street Santa Cruz, CA 95062 831-454-7200 www.scanimalshelter.org Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11am to 6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them. Story
Jabulani, lovingly nicknamed Jabu for short, is a sweet girl looking to affectionately nuzzle her way into your heart! This precious girl absolutely adores being in the company of her human companions. She greets everyone she meets with a curly tailed tail wag and lots of slobbery kisses. She also makes sure to show off her agile spins and funny vocalizations to wow her new friends. She is an energetic and active pup that would love to go for long walks, spend some time playing fetch in the yard, training using positive reinforcement methods, and enjoying a nice food puzzle. Jabu is also a gold medalist at tug-of-war and an expert in squeeky toys. You can see Jabu in action in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/j9ZpmzAYeRg Petite and beautiful at 62 pounds and 11 years, Jabu prefers to be the apple of her person's eye, for this reason she would be perfectly happy as a solo dog. This elegant and refined young lady would prefer a home without tiny little hands as she enjoys her space after meals and that can be hard for kiddos to understand. Jabu really loves her people and can be heard whining and complaining when left at home alone. With some support from our behavior team you should be able to work through her very mild separation anxiety.Overall, Jabu is a smart and bouncy girl, spinning around when she gets excited and even loves exploring the beach and dipping her paws in the ocean with her humans. This sweet girl joined us after her guardian sadly passed away unexpectedly. Are you interested in learning more about Jabulani? Story
Meet Emi Our Graceful Survivor Searching for Her Forever Home. For more than two long years, Emi has been patiently waiting for the day she can finally go home. That’s an incredible show of strength for any dog, but for a senior like Emi it’s pure resilience of heart and spirit. Once a beloved family companion, Emi has faced her time in rescue with quiet dignity and balance. Like the Yin and Yang she seems to embody, Emi has learned to find peace in the in-between, accepting her life in transition while still holding onto hope. Despite her time in care, Emi remains a radiant soul, endearing, mischievous, and deeply loving. She moves with grace and elegance, her beautiful brindle coat gleaming as she trots happily beside you on her short walks. She loves affection, engaging with her people and, of course crinkly toys and tasty treats! At around 10 years old, Emi still has that classic Akita spirit, a touch of independence and a sparkle of opinionated charm. She manages some mild arthritis with anti-inflammatories, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying playtime or soaking up sunshine in the yard. Emi would flourish in a home without other dogs or cats so she can shower you with all her love. What Emi needs most now is what every dog deserves: a soft place to land, a family to call her own, and the comfort of knowing she’s home at last. Please consider opening your heart and home to this extraordinary girl. Whether through adoption or as a permanent foster, you could be the one to give Emi the peace, love, and security she’s been waiting for all this time. She’s ready….she just needs someone to finally say, “Welcome home, Emi!” Interested in adopting? Story
Emily - 650 740 1842 Belmont, Ca Meet Princess Leia & Luke Two adorable 4 year old huskies that we are fostering. Both are terrific with people, gentle, and know “sit”, “come”, and other commands. Mostly housebroken but given their recent stint in a shelter, could use potty training reinforcement. Super sweet and just want to be around you. Princess Leia is very sweet and curious about her surroundings. She likes to explore, then flops, lies down, and sleeps for a while. Luke is confident, chill, and content to watch.  Both love to be by your side and adore you with kisses. They are the kind of dogs we’d love to keep but our senior chihuahua is not a fan so unfortunately they won’t be able to stay with us. They are bonded to each other and we understand from the shelter, they came in together. If possible, we’d love to see them go to a good home together.  But if they each go to a different home, they will thrive there too. Please feel free to call or text to arrange a visit or any questions. Please also feel free to spread the word. Emily - 650 740 1842March 11, 2026, 10:00 pm

This animal is available at Marin Humane Society Email: adoptions@marinhumanesociety.org Please do not contact North Bay Payaso 308690   Breed Siberian Husky/ Shepherd Cross   Sex Male   Color Red Gold/Cream   Weight 67.8 lbs   Neutered   Age 4Yrs 2Wks   Where can you find me?   I am at the Marin Humane location.   You can contact me by   Phone (415) 506-6225   Address 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. Novato   A Little Bit About Me   This tall handsome drink of water is Payaso, the Husky/Shepherd/Giraffe mix. Did we mention how tall he was? He's a big boy! Like way bigger than his current weight implies, but we like us a tall man 'round these parts.   Unfortunately Payaso was severely neglected in his previous home so in addition to being thin, his coat is stained and he is still stinky despite numerous baths. But this will all resolve with time and better care. His glow-up will be a sight to see for sure!   Like a lot of northern breeds, Payaso can be a bit aloof with strangers and also is not a big fan of invasive handling by new folks (think nail trims and walking equipment) but once you are 'in the club' he becomes much more social and tolerant. He would love a guardian who has experience with his breed type and with the patience to work through the bonding phase. He is definitely a dog who will attach closely to his person and make a loyal companion for the right match.   Payaso was appropriate with the large female dog he met, and previously lived with a large male dog, but was a bit rude with the small dog we introduced him to. It's possible that he is just inexperienced with dog social interaction, but he could also be influenced by some prey drive- another thing Huskies are known for. So he definitely isn't a 'dog park dog' and will need a family able to manage his interactions with other animals carefully as his personality and intentions fully reveal themselves. Again, previous breed-type experience would really be helpful.   If all this sounds reasonable to you and you are ready for a companion who isn't necessarily the most social butterfly but will certainly turn heads when you walk by, consider meeting Payaso- he just might be your perfect match.  Adoption Center: (415) 506-6225 The Marin Humane Society 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato, California 94949 Email: adoptions@marinhumanesociety.orgMarch 11, 2026, 10:00 pm
