Story
At the Placer SPCA in Roseville, California, we have a 5-year old, white female Akita up for adoption. Her name is Pearl and she is very sweet and loves to play. She was surrendered to us when her family had to move into an apartment and she did not meet the weight requirement. We think she would do best in an Akita-experienced home where she can be the only dog as she has not been friendly with the dogs she has met, though she was in a home with another Akita when she was younger as well as a small dog. She also does not like her feet touched and has some resource guarding with treats. She has great manners and is easy to walk.  For more information about Pearl or to meet her, please contact: Placer SPCA 200 Tahoe Avenue Roseville, CA. 95678 916-872-6169 (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
Hi! My name is Simon. The shelter thinks I am around 3 years old. I am a medium to high energy Akita mix with gorgeous marking and a great voice! I LOVE playing with balls in the play yard. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to toss the ball to me, I will just grab it, toss it in the air and entertain myself! You can see me in action here: https://youtube.com/shorts/pm2IkJ4sYIU The volunteers are very confident that I am housebroken. I am kind of a big puppy, but with some manners. I know how to “sit” and walk well on leash. I am required to be the only dog based on my initial assessment. I am also recommended to be in a home with high school-aged kids or older. I would be an ideal dog for a family with older kids and someone with space for me to romp around! And don’t forget that I am house trained and have lovely manners. I am also super handsome and love giving doggie hugs and getting affection! For more information or to visit me, please contact: Carson Animal Care Center — Los Angeles 216 W Victoria Street Gardena, CA 90248 310-523-9566 www.animalcare.lacounty.gov Shelter Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 2pm to 5pm Wednesday - 2pm to 7pm (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Luna, a 6-year old, purebred, all white Akita! She is super intelligent, walks well on a leash and quite protective of her family. She is currently looking for a new family due to her owner passing away. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and do her daily zoomies around the yard and house! She's not a big barker, but will alert you when she hears the door bell or a knock. She's fine if left alone for short periods of time and not destructive. This sweet girl just wants a family or person to love and share her life! Though it is preferred that she be the one and only dog in the family, she does get along with her neighbor's dog who is a large, submissive male. Because of her breed, Luna should not be around cats and small dogs. Luna is good with well-mannered kids, but the children should be over 9-years of age due to her size. Her new owners should be experienced dog owners and be familiar with the Akita breed traits and behaviors, as well as reside in a home with securely-fenced yard. O If you are interested in providing a new home for Luna, please send an adoption application to: info@tikihutakitarescue.com O Please visit the bottom of this page to download an adoption application: https://tikihutakitarescue.com/adopting (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. Story
We don't know much about Tobi's past, but his future is bright.  He is a big boy with a heart the size to match.  He is a gentle giant with a gregarious, carefree attitude and is eager to learn and experience the world. He is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. Tobi is playful and has a welcoming aura about him.  He also has an unabashed, confident side to him.  He's just not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is approximately 5 yrs old, and due to his size should be on a good quality joint supplement.  He's only been with us a short time, so will need to gain a few pounds to look his best, but he's already on his way to showing us his beautiful soul.
