Story
Akira, she is a 2 year old spayed female American Akita (around 95 lb) looking for a new home. She is a beautiful and wonderful dog that gets along well with other dogs; lives with two male boxers currently. She has very good manors, is a very quick learner, and easily trained with treats. Walks very well with both of my other dogs / does not pull at all on leash. Absolutely loves the winter and any activity in the snow. Does well with grooming, allows nails to be ground and enjoys being brushed. She loves car rides and going places like parks or to the pet store. Ideally, she should be with an owner who is also very active and/or has large fenced yard for exercise. Looking for adopter with experience with Akita or other active working breed dogs.

Story
Meet Panda – A Soft Soul With a Brave Heart Panda is only seven months old, but she’s already been through more than most puppies ever should. This stunning Akita mix didn’t get the safest or smoothest start to life—but she’s making up for lost time now, learning what it means to trust, to play, and to be loved. At first, Panda is shy. She watches the world carefully, taking everything in before deciding it’s safe to let her guard down. But once she does, everything changes. She becomes a devoted shadow, a quiet cuddler, and a gentle-hearted companion who wants nothing more than to be close to the person she trusts. She walks gracefully on leash and is already potty trained. She’s intelligent and curious, always eager to explore—whether it’s new places, new toys, or new people. She’s also learning to play nicely with other dogs and is cat-friendly with the right introductions. And while she can clear a 4-foot fence with ease (those long legs and strong heart know no bounds), a secure setup or supervised yard time will keep her safe while she continues to settle into the life she deserves. Panda isn’t looking for perfection—just patience. She needs a foster or adoptive home that will go at her pace, offer calm guidance, and love her as she is while helping her grow into everything she can be. Because under her soft coat and soulful eyes is a dog who’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who sees her worth. She’s still learning how to be brave—but she’s already mastered how to love. Are you the person who can show her what home feels like? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Baron, a majestic Husky/Malamute mix with a noble spirit. At 2.5 years old and neutered, Baron is ready to start a new chapter with a family that understands his breed. Baron is very social with other dogs and loves belly rubs. He walks well on a leash and is non-leash reactive, making him great for outings. He crates well at night, is potty trained, and knows commands like sit, shake, high five, and touch. He's eager to learn more tricks! Baron’s wooly coat requires regular brushing and professional grooming to keep him comfortable and healthy. Prospective adopters need to understand the grooming commitment and the unique needs of his breed. Baron's new home should not have children under 15, cats, or small dogs. While Baron is a sweet and loving dog, he does have a few quirks that come with his personality. He can be a bit of a resource guarder when it comes to high-value treats and food, so his new family should be mindful of this behavior and provide him with proper training and boundaries. Additionally, Baron can be grumbly and a tad moody at times, but if you’re familiar with the Husky breed, you’ll know this checks out as part of his charm. Husky Breed Insights: Huskies are known for their even temperament, love for other dogs, and indifference to strangers, making them excellent companions for active families. They maintain a playful, puppy-like energy well into adulthood and exhibit a zest for life that few breeds can match. Every outing feels like a brand-new adventure for a Husky, and they often express their excitement with what owners affectionately call the "zoomies." These dogs excel in roles that require focus and determination. Originally bred to work, Huskies thrive when given tasks or engaging in activities like mushing, ski-joring, or bikejoring. A tired Husky is a happy Husky, and many owners find that channeling their energy into "jobs" helps them stay balanced and content. That said, Huskies can be a challenge for first-time dog owners. They require extensive training and daily exercise to maintain good behavior. Huskies often have independent minds and short attention spans, but with the right dedication, they become loyal and reliable companions. Those willing to invest time and energy into a Husky will be rewarded with a one-of-a-kind, personality-packed dog. Requirements for Baron's new family: Experience with Husky/Malamute breeds Commitment to regular grooming Understanding of breed-specific behaviors and needs No children under 15, cats, or small dogs If you meet these requirements, Baron could be the perfect addition to your home. Important Note: Baron had entropion surgery to correct his eyelids. His new family should monitor his eye health as part of his ongoing care. &#226&#128&#139 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. December 5, 2025, 11:04 am
