Story
Nico is a 2.5-year-old neutered male Akita on Long Island, NY. He is a loyal, devoted dog who bonds deeply with his person and thrives with an experienced owner familiar with Akitas or similar guardian breeds. He is calm and well-mannered in the house, fully housebroken, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Nico enjoys daily structure, 45-minute walks, backyard play, and quiet time at home. He eats Arcana food twice daily and knows commands such as sit, stay, wait, down, paw, up, and settle. He has completed puppy classes and private training. Nico must be the only pet and should live in an adult-only home. He is naturally protective and does best with clear boundaries, consistency, and calm introductions. In the right home, Nico will be an incredibly loyal companion and steady presence. This rehoming is being done responsibly due to major life changes, with his long-term well-being as the top priority. He is a special dog who will be deeply devoted to the right person.

Story
Meet Panda! Panda is 8 years old and his favorite pet friend is a miniature schnauzer who tends to bully him! Panda loves playing fetch, loves walks on known paths. Panda is very sensitive to loud noises especially to thunder/fireworks. Panda is house trained. Panda has been with family with 2 kids now ages 11 and 13. We had him since he was a puppy. We have relocated and have been trying to accustom Panda to new smaller house, smaller yard and much noisier than he was used to location. Panda had a lot of anxiety with the noise and as a result my landlord has given me a deadline to relocate him. He is ideal for an older experienced handler in a secluded area with a big yard. To help with transition we are open to letting miniature schnauzer go with him she is 9 years old and extremely smart dog, she walks without a leash, follows commands, house trained, understands routine and help keeps Panda in line when needed. He is accustomed to being more outside, except in the summer.

Story
Meet Hachiko!Hachiko came to the shelter as a stray after being found wandering, and his past remains a bit of a mystery. From the start, he has shown himself to be calm, composed, and quietly social. He tends to observe his surroundings first, then approaches people on his own terms, accepting pets and attention with a neutral, steady demeanor. Hachiko has a thoughtful presence and prefers respectful interactions rather than constant handling. My Ideal HomeHachiko would do best in a calm, experienced home that understands independent, sensitive dogs. He thrives with adopters who can move at his pace, respect his boundaries, and allow him to initiate interactions. A quiet environment, predictable routine, and positive, low-pressure training will help him feel secure. Mental enrichment and daily walks are important to keep him balanced and engaged.Good with Kids?No young children. Hachiko prefers calm, predictable interactions and would be most comfortable in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teens who can respect his space.Good with Other Pets?Hachiko's history with other animals is unknown. In shelter observations, he has shown interest in other dogs and can become overstimulated, particularly during introductions. Careful management and slow, structured introductions would be essential in any multi-dog home. His history with cats is unknown.Leash MannersHachiko walks politely on leash with little to no pulling. He may move slowly at times and prefers calm, low-pressure walks where he can observe and sniff without being rushed.Overall HealthRecovering from CIRDC.Behavior DeterminationLevel 2 - Hachiko is generally easy to handle but can be fearful or anxious in new situations. He benefits from slow introductions, choice-based interactions, and a low-stress environment to build confidence.Other Fun FactsHachiko enjoys leaning in for gentle pets, taking treats politely, and quietly spending time near his people. He's not overly toy-driven and prefers calm companionship. Once he feels comfortable, his steady, loyal nature really shines through Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 86.125 Age: 4yrs 1mths 1wks

Story
Meet Oley!Oley is a sweet and affectionate dog who found himself in need of a new home after his previous owner, who had to relocate, was no longer able to care for him. He's been a great companion, showing a calm and gentle nature with the people he's met so far. Oley is a social guy who enjoys being close to his family, whether it's hanging out in the living room or spending time with people in the bedroom. He has a playful side, especially when it comes to stuffed animal toys or playing tug-of-war, but he also loves lounging around and enjoying a good bath! My Ideal HomeOley is looking for a home where he can relax and be close to his people. He would do best in a calm environment with someone who can spend a lot of time with him. He needs a household without young children (under 5) and no cats, as he has shown some lunging behavior towards cats in the past. Oley is a great dog for someone who enjoys a low-key lifestyle and can provide him with the attention and space he needs to thrive. He enjoys his daily walks and would love a home with a securely fenced yard for leisurely outdoor time. Good with Kids?Yes, Oley is friendly and outgoing with older kids, but he would do best in a home without very young children. He is playful and affectionate around older children who can respect his space and boundaries, but his resource guarding tendencies and behavior around younger children make him unsuitable for homes with kids under 5. Good with Other Pets?Oley has lived with other dogs before and is generally friendly and outgoing with them, so he could thrive in a home with another dog. However, he does not do well with cats. He has shown a tendency to lunge at them during walks, which is a behavior that will need to be managed carefully with training. As for small animals, it's recommended that they also be kept out of his environment. Leash MannersOley walks well on a leash and doesn't pull, making him a great companion for leisurely strolls. However, he does have some on-leash reactivity, particularly when it comes to cats, so he may need some work on impulse control and focus during walks. It's recommended to use a secure harness and leash, keep a safe distance from triggers, and incorporate positive reinforcement techniques like "leave it" and "watch me" to help manage his reactivity. Overall HealthOley is a generally healthy dog, although he's been showing signs of mild anemia and osteoarthritis, as well as some dental disease. He's currently undergoing treatment for a respiratory issue (CIRDC) and some mild inappetence, but with the right care, he's expected to improve. Oley is also a senior dog, so his medical needs will need to be managed. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 104 Age: 11yrs 0mths 3wks

He would do best without cats or small animals.Leash MannersMr. Smith is a strong, enthusiastic walker who pulls quite hard on the leash. Training with a front-clip harness or head halter, along with positive reinforcement techniques, would greatly benefit him.Overall HealthHealthy overall with no known medical issues.Behavior DeterminationExperienced Adopters - Mr. Smith requires a patient owner willing to work on his training and manage his anxiety with gentle guidance.Other Fun FactsMr. Smith loves to engage with people and enjoys mental challenges like puzzle toys and hide-and-seek games.
