She can be a little shy when meeting new people but with patience and kindness, Hilly quickly reveals her true self, a loving, loyal companion who forms deep bonds. Once she feels safe, Hilly melts into affection, gazing up at you with soft eyes and happily soaking up every bit of love. She enjoys calm leash walks, relaxed hang-out time, and peaceful companionship. Toys, especially balls, are her favorite! Hilly already knows how to “sit” and would do best in a calm, understanding home with older kids. She’s polite, gentle, and well-mannered. Story
Saki came to HHR by way of our rescue friends in GA. Saki was scheduled for euthanasia for being a special needs dog. She is at least partially hearing impaired and has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). CH is a permanent condition caused by exposure to distemper while in utero. The exposure causes underdevelopment of the cerebellum in the brain- the part responsible for fine motor skills. CH does not affect Saki’s health, but it is the reason her head bobbles and she walks a little differently than other dogs. We think it only adds to her personality. She is a silly, playful, energetic girl that loves to run and play. She gets along with other dogs in her foster home but can also be a bit rude in the beginning because her condition leaves her less able to read cues from other dogs. Saki would be best suited for a home with adults or older kids (teens and up). Saki is about two and a half years old and weighs 58 lbs. She is spayed; vaccinated for rabies, distemper, and bordetella; microchipped; and recently treated for heartworm by our veterinarian. Saki is current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Nieves is around 11 years old, but don’t let her age fool you! She has a wonderful personality and absolutely loves everyone she meets. She’s happiest living the laid-back lifestyle and would love a calm, loving home where she can relax, enjoy some leisurely strolls, and soak up all the attention she deserves. Nieves was adopted from Almost Home about 4 years ago and, sadly, was recently returned due to her family moving.
