Story
Although Bear is a very nice guy, he is big, untrained, energetic galumpus. His main issue is that he is a teenage butthead, which he will grow out of.  He loves people, and is a really good looking boy.  We are just getting to know him.  Experience with the breed preferredVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 19, 2023, 9:08 pm

Story
Cassie's owner was  homeless and realized that he had to give her up for her sake.  She was frightened in the shelter initially, but warmed up to the staff fairly quickly.  When our volunteer went to meet her, all Cassie wanted to do was sit next to her and be petted.  She will not be available until after she is spayed in Mid-April.  We are still getting to know Cassie better so  stay tuned for more info.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 19, 2023, 9:08 pm

Story
Kumo came to us from a shelter in Kentucky just before the tornadoes hit.  His owner was moving and took him to the shelter.  Stacy, who is caring for him at her kennel, says he is a 'sweet, old man who is self entertaining with toys, but is quite happy to engage with people.  He will tolerate being brushed for moderate periods of time. He is good on the leash when he remembers you have the other end. He rides well in a car.  While initially mistrustful, he does like people.  He loves food !!! He also does the 'dancing Akita' when he is happyVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 19, 2023, 9:08 pm

Not good with cats, Needs special attention,
Story
Willow came from a shelter in Mississippi.  She was picked up  after being hit by a car.  Attempts were made to contact the owner and were unsuccessful.  Her left hind leg was removed.  The owners contacted the shelter later and said they had either given her to friends or friends were watching her when she was hit.  They did not want her back.  Willow is not acting aggressively to the resident dogs while she is in her crate. She has not been tested with kitties yet, but may be predatory toward them. She is walking 1/4 mile daily. She will try to chase squirrels and bunnies. She LOVES people and is a cuddle bug.  Her leash manners have improved but still need more work. She rides well in a car. She will sit for treats. While she can go up and down stairs, we are looking for a home with as few stairs as possible, single level preferred. She may be an akita mix or just a poorly bred Akita.  She sheds like an Akita.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 19, 2023, 9:08 pm

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats,
Story
Akai camd from a shelter in NC.  Here is what the shelter said about her: 'This beautiful girl is Akaie. She has been fostered out twice to potential adopters from our shelter but returned both times, as neither potential adopter was familiar with the breed and she was “too much” for them. There was no mention of aggression or anything dealing with behavior, just that she was too strong for one’s wife to walk while he is at work and then the second foster read information on the breed and decided she was not a match for her. We would love to find an Akita Rescue that could pull her from our facility and find the right family for her. ' The shelter workers adored her. Here is what we know about her from her time with us.  She is great with people.  Very particular about what dogs she likes.  Has a fairly high prey drive, so no small dogs or cats.  As with all Akitas, she does not like to potty in her run. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 19, 2023, 9:08 pm

Story
Hi there! My name is LUCA. What’s yours? Nice to meet ya! I am in Houston, TX. I am posted as a transportation destination in numerous cities across the U. S. If you are within driving distance, can you come to Houston to pick me up, please? If you need me to travel to you, I can do that, too! I promise you won't be disappointed. A nice person came along and took me in and, now, I am ready to hit the road to your house! Uh, make that “our” house, OK? I definitely need a house with a fenced-in yard cuz I need room to run and romp and be safe! The rescue requires (1) a fenced-in yard for all of their dogs of all sizes and (2) an Excellent, already-established vet History on a current or previous dog. We would call your vet once you have filled out an application. You don't have to produce vet records beforehand. I am a full-blooded HUSKY, my vet says. I am 1.5 YEARS old and I weigh 55 pounds. I have been neutered and am up to date on vaccines so I'm ready to go to my new home with YOU!! I hardly every bark. I am gentle and loving. I ride nicely in a vehicle. And, I take treats nicely. Those funny-looking 2-legged creatures said I’m also microchipped – whatever THAT is. At any rate, I am fully vetted. Is that anything close to petted? I love to be petted and loved on! Wanna hear some more good stuff about me? OK, here goes. I like all people, adults and children, and other dogs. I am also house-trained using a doggie door. Good, huh? YAY Me! Will you teach me all the things a young doggie needs to know to be safe and happy? I take treats nicely and I ride nicely in a car. I'm a young and active boy so, if you have human kiddos, they need to be a tad older, maybe starting around 11. I don't want to hurt anyone but I might, accidentally, knock over a toddler and I don't want to do that! Since I was rescued, I like to take naps when I'm tired from playing. I need love, exercise and couch-sitting when we get tired! Let's be a team, OK? If you would like to take me home (and you know you do), please email doggydarlings12@gmail.com and they can get me on my way to a new and loving home! I will definitely be the best thing that ever happened to you!

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/12497Hi I’m Ginna! I’m guessed to be a 2 year old female Husky/Shepherd mix and I weigh about 45 lbs. Fun facts about me include:- Doing great with the 4 dogs in my foster home, both large and small, and love to play chase with them or just lay next to them to chew on a toy.- Enjoy running around in the yard and playing fetch with a ball or playing with the larger puppies there. Did I mention I LOVE other dogs??- Enjoy snuggling with foster mom and dad on the couch.- Doing well with housetraining and do best when on a regular schedule.- Good in my crate overnight after a minute of protest- As a Husky mix, of course I have a wonderful voice and love to chat with my foster family. Foster mom says I entertain her with my vocalizations and she always knows what I'm thinking. - Love going for walks. I'm also an excellent rodent catcher and have caught a mole and a mouse- Take treats very gently.I'm fostered in the Shenandoah Valley area but foster mom says I'm such a great dog she's willing to drive partway to meet potential adopters!See me in action here: Dog playWalking on leashPlaying in yardTrevor and GinnaPuppy pile on GinnaPups playing nice with Ginna I’m doing great at my foster home but I'm ready for a family of my own.
