Hi, I’m Tank. Yes, I’m 85 pounds. Yes, I’m handsome. And yes, I fully expect you to tell me both of those things on a regular basis. 😎
I’m a big ol’ love bug who thinks neck scratches and chest rubs are basically a human’s job description. Tell me I’m a handsome good boy and I’ll be your best friend forever. 🥰
I’m also what you might call Akita-ish… which means I come with opinions. 😂 I’m strong, confident, and would really appreciate a person who knows how to provide calm, steady leadership. I’m not looking for someone to boss me around—I just like knowing my person has things under control.
I enjoy my walks and I’m actually really good on leash. I’m not interested in picking fights with other dogs or people—in fact, I’m pretty chill and non-reactive. I DO, however, believe every person I see at the store is a potential new friend, so naturally I must go say hello. It’s important to maintain my social calendar. 😉
My hips aren’t exactly what they used to be, so I’m more of a “let’s take a nice walk and smell ALL the smells” kind of guy rather than a “let’s go run a marathon” kind of guy. I have bilateral hip dysplasia, but medication, supplements, keeping me at a healthy weight, and short, frequent walks have made a BIG difference in how well I get around.
I’m also heartworm positive and currently going through my treatment. My skin is healing beautifully from a bacterial and yeast infection, and I’m almost back to being my gorgeous self. I even behave pretty darn well for my weekly baths. See? I’m basically perfect. 😏
I’m good with other dogs and have lived happily with two German Shepherds. I enjoy having canine friends, although when everyone starts getting too wild and crazy, I sometimes think, “I would like to participate… but my hips have filed a formal complaint.” 😂
When that happens, I’m happy to hang out with my tennis ball or toys instead.
My ideal family is active but understands that I have some limitations. Leisurely walks, hanging out with my people, and being told how handsome I am sounds like a pretty fantastic life to me.
Because I’m a big, strong guy with sensitive hips, I’d do best with older kids, 12+, who understand that I’m not a jungle gym and that bumping or pulling on me can hurt.
So, if you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate, slightly opinionated, 85-pound sweetheart who will happily accept scratches, compliments, walks, toys, and a place by your side…
