Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13400Meet Kramer, a 4 year old, 55lb Siberian Husky mix who is currently being fostered in Richmond Virginia. If you are looking for an energetic, engaging and goofy companion, Kramer is your guy. Kramer arrived at his current foster home in February. Being such a high energy breed means that he needs at least 1-2 hours of exercise/mental stimulation a day. He loves to explore the yard, play fetch and chase the flirt pole. Kramer is in the process of learning how to play/behave appropriately with other dogs and people. His worst offenses are mouthing, jumping on people, chewing blankets and inappropriate behavior towards the female resident dog. All these behaviors are currently being worked on with his foster parents and progress is being made!Inside the house, Kramer needs to be separated from the resident dog to avoid rough playing/mounting. Though he will sometimes protest, Kramer does very well in the crate and can be easily distracted with a peanut butter Kong if he is getting whiny. He is completely potty trained and does not have accidents in the house. Kramer is working on his walk etiquette, as he has habit of pulling on the leash. While Kramer does have some areas to work on (don't we all), when it comes down to it he is a wonderful dog to have around. He is curious about everything and loves a good belly rub or snuggle. He would do best in a home without children and plenty of space to exercise. If you are interested in adopting Kramer please apply today!

Freya This pretty lady is a sweet soul. She loves her people. She will definitely show you lots of love and attention. She loves kids and would make a great play partner. She is very dog and cat friendly. Although if your cat is runner or spooked easily, she will chase for a fun activity. Freya can jump high, so she requires a yard with a minimum of a 6 ft fence. She would do well with lots of room to roam and play. This chick is up for any adventure, as long as she gets to spend time with her people, her heart will be happy. She will be fully vetted, microchipped and is available to you via ground transport.

Like the famous canine hero, this adorable pup has captured our hearts and is ready to lead the way into adventure. While he may not be delivering lifesaving serum to Alaska, Balto is still making a big impact at our shelter with his charming, energetic personality and playful spirit. This curious, independent, and all-around pup-tastic pooch loves exploring nature and meeting new creatures. Balto would do best in a home that can give him the attention and patience to help him be the best dog ever. Happily, he is a quick learner. Your efforts will be very rewarding-imagine a lifetime of cuddles, outdoor adventures, and time spent together! If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate new lifelong friend, Balto could be what you've been missing! Remember, "Balto" isn't just a name - it's a legacy of courage, determination, and love, a legacy that this pup would love to continue as part of your family.

To learn more about Aspen, please email Jody.kulstad@lostdogrescue.org Why take a trip to Aspen when you can bring Aspen home with you? Beyond his incredible good looks and sharp blue eyes, Aspen is a bundle of energy. This distinguished gentleman is ready to play any chance he gets. As huskies do, he needs his exercise and is happy to help you exceed your step goal! Walk around the block? Sure! Even better, how about a 3-mile hike in the woods? 3 miles? Let's make it 5! And if a pup cup is at the end, all the better for this fluffy fellow. When he's not itching for a walk, he is calm and gentle with just a touch of sass balanced with good manners. He is a strong boy and will do best with a husky-familiar family that can provide him with mental and physical stimulation. He'd also do better in a home with older kids; he loves hanging with adults and other dogs. Aspen is a really good boy with lots of love to share. He is ready to join you on all your adventures!

Story
We adoped Otis, our young gorgeous huskey mix whom we dearly love about a year ago when he was 6 months old. He is extremely sensitive about being touched around his neck. He has bitten several people who have inadvertently touched him in that place. We have tried different trainers, including a behavioral therapist and a boarding/training, who have helped, but who haven't been able to reach him permanently and it has not stopped his occasional reactionary bites. While Otis is often well-behaved, he may have a neurological problem that contributes to his unpredictability. My partner was recently diagnosed with cancer which has added a considerable amount of stress to our house, something that I am sure has impacted Otis as well. We have now made the heartbreaking decision to rehome Otis. ONLY experienced dog owners should apply with previous experience managing dogs like this, also should have space to run.

Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome boy needs his fur-ever family! SITKA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Sitka       Best Guess for Breed:   Husky      Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of March 2024        SEX:    male   Approximate Weight:   56lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We have not seen Sitka with children but he can be tested. Sitka is not recommended for a home with cats due to his breed.   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter - Sitka needs a foster home to make his way to DC!   Special adoption considerations: Sitka is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky!  They are part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study will be placed at random, in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, this pup will be eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  Post treatment, we will work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test 6 months after treatment concludes, followed by a second test at 9 months.   Sitka is Looking For: The most important thing you need to know is that adopting Sitka for his looks alone is a bad idea. Huskies are smart and need plenty of mental and physical enrichment - they were bred for all-day activity! If you don't provide them with that enrichment, they WILL make their own in the home and you'll be doing repairs or replacing items. But if you get their needs and meet them, oh, they are just awesome, amazing dogs full of personality.    Sitka is gonna be such a fun companion. He's offering lots of laughs and opportunities for you to stay active in exchange for a home with central air conditioning and humans who appreciate his smarts and keep him challenged. What do you say? Is he the boy you want by your side for all those miles you have to cover before you sleep?     What My Foster Says About Me:   Coming soon!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   !
