Story
Awwooooo!!! Adopt me!   LAKOTA is an affectionate, gentle, playful (and at first - a little bit shy). but is now available for adoption to the public!!   Background: Lakota was picked up as a stray on 7/27 and brought to a shelter. He was thin and leggy, and originally thought to be a wolf hybrid (and therefore rescue only to wolf-sanctuaries). He stole our heart and we advocated for him by presenting info to the staff which gave them the resources to properly phenotype him. We also presented his photos & videos to other rescue groups that specialize in Northern breeds who also weighed in. Our favorite, wolf-sanctuary-sister-rescue and friend, Dr. Lorin Linder, Ph.D., MPH. of Lockwood Animal Rescue Center also reviewed the photos/videos and provided her expert opinion to the shelter. He's now been properly labeled as an Alaskan Malamute mix and because of his lovely, friendly temperament, can become the forever companion to a very lucky person or family.   Despite all of Lakota's people-friendly qualities, Lakota is reactive to other dogs so only adopters with experience with strong, Northern breed dogs will be considered, and he will not be placed in a home with other dogs or pets. Story
Hi, my name is Hoagy and I am a very sweet, and handsome, 5 year old Siberian Husky mix boy. I am ok with other large balanced dogs but would be best as an only dog as I can clash with other dominant large dog personalities.  I haven't been tested with small dogs or cats although rescue doesn't believe I would be ok with either. I would definitely be a potentially great working dog! Sledding and mushing seem to be very good possibilities for me.  Due to an urgent need to free me from having to live at boarding kennels as a result of this terrible shelter overpopulation crisis and lack of available foster homes, my rescue mom has waived my adoption fee for the right home.   I come with training support from my pawsome trainer: Ian too!!  ##1852956##

Story
The people I adopted King from said he would jump their 6 ft fence and go on adventures. I think he must have been left alone a lot. He does like to have company. If no humans are around he is ok to hang out with his cat. He is excellent with children. He has been professionally trained. He went to "So Cal Off Leash" training for 2-3 weeks cant remember for sure. He listens very well, walks on a leash without pulling, knows many commands. While he does like his walks, you will know he is tired when his tail uncurls. He is very afraid of fireworks. We used to live in Long Beach and there were a lot firework. He is a very good boy. I recently moved to a small apartment and I work long hours. Before this move he had someone who worked from home with him.

Story
We rescued Nuki in August 2023 from a kill shelter. He is 3.5 years old and 65 pounds. Nuki is the sweetest, most gentle giant. He smiles so much and he barely ever barks. He is wonderful with dogs and people. He loves people so much! He is a very good boy with a couple of quirks. He gets very(!!) excited by squirrels and small dogs on walks. He chases our cats. I would recommend someone without cats or someone experience in training dogs with high prey drives. Due to our cats not liking him, and our busy schedules we are making the difficult decision to rehome him. He is a beautiful boy who deserves a wonderful home. Please ask any questions you have.

These pups are in Santa Clarita, California too!

Story
HIRO is a friendly, affectionate, and strikingly handsome 5 year old male Japanese/American Akita. He was surrendered to rescue after his family had to relocate to Korea and were unable to take Hiro with them. Hiro is a medium-large sized Akita, and weighs about 80lbs. He has a beautiful, soft, shiny blond coat and the sweetest, brightest dark brown eyes.  Hiro was very socialized as a young Akita, and has an easy-going temperament. He loves walks, car rides, or just hanging out with you. He would love nothing more than to be your loyal, lifelong, companion.     Visit our website at www.akitaangels.org. Story
Ruger is an incredibly handsome 4 year old purebred American Akita. He is friendly to new people, affectionate with those he knows, and likes to play tug-o-war! When it's time to sleep, Ruger carries his "baby" (stuffed animal) around and then snuggles up with it.  Before coming into rescue, Ruger lived in a home with kids, and another dog. We think he would be happiest being an only dog, and in a home with  Like most Akitas, Ruger will do best in a home without other dogs, or children under the age of 18. Story
MAIKO needs a Miracle - - - LOVELAND, COLORADO   Maiko has lived his entire life with his family, and after facing a life-changing situation, they have no other option but to rehome him. He has been loved - intensely - since he was a pup, and is well socialized, but like many Akitas, he would do best as an only dog in the home and in a home with kids older than 10.   He is going to turn 8 in March, is neutered, up to date with all his vaccinations, and is microchipped. He has no known health issues and has never been involved in a bite incident with a human or other dog.   His family is devastated and has asked for our help in rehoming him, and avoid him having to be moved to Southern California. Please share this post. He is located in Loveland, Colorado (Just North of Denver). April 21, 2024, 8:34 pm
