Story
Foster notes, 4/29/24:Tank is a joy to have. He is very loving and when not showing his age (15 years), he acts like a pup when he plays. He plays with his toys on his own or when someone else wants to play tug of war with him. He loves to eat and sleep and loves getting treats. He dislikes other pets and animals in general so this means he would have to be the only pet in the home. Tank loves going on outings and for car rides as well. He does quite well in a car. He is fully housebroken and does very well when walking him on a leash.Foster notes, 1/19/24:Tank has been wonderful to have. My grandmother and I took Tank up to the pet store to get some extra toys and treats for him. He loves to play with his toys and loves to sleep. He is a very loving and sweet dog. Tank is house trained and will let you know he needs to go out by barking and going to the door. He loves treats and enjoys Milkbone Dog Biscuits, Puperoni Sticks, and chew sticks.Enjoys meeting new people, is cuddly and affectionate, walks well on leash (No or low amount of pulling), chases cats/small animals, enjoys car rides, and is potty trained.Foster notes, 12/5/23:Tank is a very loving dog and enjoys being around me and my Grandmother. He enjoys taking over the couch so I might have to get his permission to sit on it! LOL He likes to be the center of attention and loves to be petted and have his rear scratched. Most of the time, he loves to sleep as long as someone is with him. Tank has had one accident but is housetrained. Dog Day Out notes, 11/20/23:I took Tank to get a delicious pup cup at Dunkin Donuts and I took him to Hawfields Park where we walked and played with his ball. He is good with kids we met, enjoyed meeting new people, and he`s loving, affectionate, and good on leash.Dog Day Out notes, 10/2/23:Tank and I roamed around campus for a few hours. We layed out in the sun and in the grass, and met plenty of new friends. We walked around campus and just got to explore and also cuddle on plenty of benches! He enjoyed meeting new people, is loving and affectionate, and is good on leash but pulls a little. Tank didn`t go directly up to other animals, but was intrigued from far away. He never once barked at other animals, just looked at them. Tank was such a sweet boy, he was playful for small amounts of time but also calmed down when needed. He is incredibly sweet, he just wanted to hug and cuddle with every person he saw b

Story
Age: 6 years old (approx) Weight: 50 pounds Adoption Fee: $175 (includes microchip, neuter surgery and vaccinations) Papa is a very friendly medium-sized dog who is sweet and people-oriented. He knows how to SIT, lay down, and SHAKE hands and will even do this with either paw! He is quite playful but also a well-behaved adult dog. He likes car rides and going for puppacinos and frozen yogurt! He loves all people and loves to make new friends! We have also discovered he seems to enjoy wearing hats and sweaters, and he's so photogenic that you cannot help but dress him up for pictures! He's our resident Dog Model who will wear just about anything and has fun too. Got Netflix? He'll binge-watch whatever you're watching with you (we can't guarantee he'll stay awake though!) We have also found that Papa also really likes race tracks! He has been to Virginia International Raceway THREE times and loves all the people and noise.  His ideal home would have no other dogs (cats who know dogs are OK) and no small children/toddlers (he jumps a little bit when he's excited and could knock a little child over without meaning harm). He likes to run around with balls so a fenced yard is required. **************************************************************************** Papa is available for adoption through Spirit Canine Rescue. To adopt Papa, please visit our website http://www.spiritcaninerescue.org/adopt.html for more information and to complete an application. A home visit will be required prior to adoption. We request that all adopters be within reasonable traveling distance to Burlington NC.   * Our only obligation is to the dogs in our program and we reserve the right to determine whether a particular dog and the adopter are the right fit. Remember, just because a dog "looks" like the one you want, that does not necessarily mean that the dog will "behave" like the one you want! Note: We do not adopt out of state!  We do not adopt dogs into homes with invisible /underground fencing! February 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!INSIGHTS FROM MY DOG DAY OUT:`Flash was a delight to spend the day with. He was so happy to go on a hike and stood in the creek soaking it all in for several minutes. He’s the best backseat passenger and really relaxes and seems to enjoy car rides. He does pull a little when on leash but he’s easy to manage since he’s quite small. He can sit well. He absolutely loves toys! We had some chill time after our hike and he gnawed on several toys for awhile. He met my dog and showed some signs of anxiety, but no aggression. He will need help building some confidence. He was respectful in the home-no accidents or counter surfing and he did not chew on anything other than the toys. Flash is such a cutie and so sweet. It was a joy being around him and I know the right person/family will absolutely adore him.`

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC      Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old.   Pluto is great with people (including kids) and most dogs. His favorite things include pets, cuddles, naps, and chew toys. He keeps himself entertained but will chase after toys and gets excited when we take him for walks or on a drive.    Pluto plays well with our other dogs, however, we have noticed that he can be possessive  over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He is quiet and will only briefly bark when we have a package or visitor. He will use the bathroom in a fenced yard or on a leash.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats. He is fine in the yard with our chickens even without supervision. We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.   Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate. He prefers to be out of his crate. He is well mannered so he is allowed to free roam even when we are not home.  He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  He is used to us being gone during that day for work. We check up on him on the dog camera and he is usually sleeping.    At night, Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep with us but snores way too loud.  Pluto is a wonderful dog who is gentle, and friendly. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He will make a great family pet.  Could you consider giving him the loving home he  deserves?  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize adoptions.  For the perfect home for Pluto, we will considered approved applicants who live a bit further away from the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? **Meet Gadget: Your Future Best Friend!** Gadget is a sweet and gentle boy with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. His affectionate nature makes him a joy to be around, and he has a special way of giving hugs that will melt your heart. Gadget walks beautifully on a leash, and his polite demeanor shines through when he takes treats gently from your hand. He's a quick learner who already knows how to sit for treats, showcasing his well-mannered personality. Gadget has shown promising signs of being house trained, which will make settling into his new home easier. Although he's a bit anxious in a crate, he's a resilient boy who just needs a bit of extra patience and understanding to help him adjust. Because of his crate anxiety, Gadget might be better suited to a house opposed to an apartment. If you're looking for a loving companion who's eager to share his affection, including those heartwarming hugs, and playful moments, Gadget is ready to bring joy and warmth into your life. With a little support and plenty of love, Gadget will thrive and become an adored member of your family. Come meet Gadget today and experience the magic of his gentle, loving nature! Gadget has had positive interactions with other dogs. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet Gadget, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday.
