Story
Jake is a real love. He is truly a companion dog. He just loves people. In fact, his favorite is to sit in the kitchen while you cook. Everything is better when Jake's around. He was rescued from California and has rebounded magnificently. He gets along with all the other dogs at the rescue and loves horses. He follows them around the ranch just like the old Texas cowboys used to do. He is current on all his vaccinations and heartworm negative. He is a very gentle dog and great on the leash. Nature trail anyone? Give us a buzz and let us introduce you to our sweet boy, Jake.May 23, 2024, 3:59 pm

Story
Hi everyone I recently got divorced and was forced to move out. Me and my Dog are couch-surfing at the moment. I really really need help and am looking for a family who would be able to take my dog in until I find my own place. This would absolutely be a temporary Foster home situation. I am not giving away my Dog. Please, please, please do not try and keep my Dog. There will be an official Contract that both parties will sign upon exchange of my furry baby. The contract will state that this is a temporary situation and that the Dog will need to be returned to the owner at any time requested. My dog is beautiful, smart, happy, silly, observant, protective and always hungry. I feed him RAW BEEF. I make brown rice, mix that with Sweet Yams, Green beans, Green peas and Chickpeas. The rice mix will be the base. Then you mix a little of the base with a little beef and thats his meal. If you are ever unable to make his food, you can just get the wet dog food from the store :) Thank You!

Story
Meet Pugsley! Pugsley is a 2-year-old bulldog/terrier mix bursting with charm, goofy energy, and an endless capacity for love. He’s the perfect match for an active family looking for a fun-loving, kid-friendly companion who thrives on adventure and connection. Pugsley is the ideal blend of playful enthusiasm and affectionate sweetness. He loves to run, play, and explore—whether he’s romping in the yard, joining you for long walks, or splashing in the water, one of his all-time favorite activities. He walks beautifully on a leash and brings enthusiasm to every outing, making him a wonderful walking or hiking buddy. At home, Pugsley is a delightful goofball. He’ll do an “alligator chomp” in the air to get your attention, spook himself with a trash bag blowing across the yard, or curl up next to you in the funniest positions. He is good with dogs of all sizes and enjoys having canine companions to play and relax with. Pugsley is incredibly loving and people-oriented. He’s fantastic with kids of all ages and quickly becomes a family favorite. He crates easily when no one is home and does best in a household with a yard and, ideally, another dog buddy. He would love to have a family that is home alot if he is the only dog. He is also cat friendly but may try to play with them. Pugsley is currently being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX. He gets anxious with car rides so he is available in Texas only. He loves sleeping in a bed with his family and sleeps soundly through the night. His quirks—like sleeping with his tongue sticking out and snoring softly—only make him more endearing. If you're seeking a joyful, affectionate, water-loving dog with tons of personality, Pugsley is ready to win your heart. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. I am 71 years old and cannot keep up with Lucy. I am unable to walk her and live in a condo so she doesn't get much exercise. She needs a much better home than I can provide for her. She's a sweet girl.

Story
Rocky is 11 years old and he is quite a lover boy! We got Rocky when our son was around 9 years old. Rocky was about 6 weeks old. He has grown up with just my husband and I and has been a house dog. He is very low tempered and easy going. We are looking to rehome him due to our son no longer staying at home and we own a business that requires us to do a great deal of travel. We want him to still get the same great love that we have always given him. Last but not least he hates the camera, we’ve had to get most of our photos off guard.

Story
I’ve had the opportunity to receive training beyond the APA! walls and am currently living in the Houston area. I like to think of it as “studying abroad!” I’ve received some one-on-one attention from my trainer friend at Gray Wolf Canine Rehabilitation who has helped me further work through some challenges. (https://www.austinpetsalive.org/blog/thinking-outside-the-shelter-walls-to-support-dogs-in-need). Now with some extra coursework, I’m ready to graduate out of the sheltering system and into an adoptive home! And as soon as I find a home, my spot at Gray Wolf gives another dog just like me a chance to broaden their horizons! What I've worked on at GWCR: I grew up in a loving home with a family surrounding me! Through no fault of my own, I landed in the shelter system, and became stuck. Over the last 3 years in the shelter, I developed separation anxiety when left alone and struggled to connect with the dog friends I used to play with. During my time at GWCR, I've become accustomed to spending time in the crate and developed a routine to manage my anxiety, practiced introductions to new dogs, and figured out my favorite enrichments and activities to keep me nurtured. All I need now is a caring home to take me in and keep me out of the shelter system forever! I would prefer a lower traffic home, but can be flexible with more management. I would enjoy living with the right dog friend, provided we get to meet first!
