This boy is not your stereotypical bulldog. Most days, Max happily logs around 2 miles of walks, and if you're up for an adventure, he'll gladly keep going. Four, five, even six miles? Challenge accepted. ? He genuinely loves being outside, stretching his legs, sniffing every new smell, and being part of whatever you're doing. Before coming to rescue, Max spent much of his life living outside. His world was small, his days were repetitive, and there wasn't much to do except watch life happen from the other side of a fence. Now he refuses to miss a thing. ? He's the kind of dog who wants to be involved in your day from beginning to end. Morning walks, coffee on the porch, errands around the house, winding down with music at night... if you're there, Max is happy. He also happens to be one of the funniest dogs you'll ever meet. ? He legitimately watches television. ? He's convinced every closed hand contains a treat and will politely investigate to make sure. ? His foster lovingly calls him a little shark because he likes to inspect the world with his mouth before deciding what it is. ? If he thinks you've been slacking on giving him enough attention, he'll "crop dust" you as his completely ridiculous form of protest. His little nub tail deserves an award all by itself. He's affectionate without being overwhelming and is perfectly content resting his head in your lap while you watch a movie. Routine is his happy place. Breakfast, a walk, enrichment time, another walk, dinner, one last evening stroll, then curling up on the couch while the TV or music plays. He knows the schedule and absolutely thrives on it. He's wonderful with visitors and genuinely enjoys meeting new people, especially men. With other dogs, he does best when friendships are allowed to develop slowly, and we've already seen him succeed with thoughtful introductions. ? Yuji recently joined ABR after his family made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender him so he could finally receive the medical care he needs. Before they found him, Yuji had undergone surgery to remove one of his ear canals because of a severe infection. Unfortunately, the surgery wasn't successful, and he has continued battling a painful infection that will require revision surgery. Through all of it, Yuji has remained unbelievably sweet! Yuji is everything people love about bulldogs. He's smart, goofy, affectionate, and full of personality. He already knows how to be part of a family and has wonderful manners. He's completely potty trained, waits to be invited onto the furniture, and is gentle with children. He loves other dogs, gets along beautifully with cats, and is always ready to make a new friend. Even though he's been living with chronic discomfort, Yuji still chooses joy. He loves to play, happily sits for his neck to be cleaned, and soaks up every bit of love and attention he can get. I’ve had the opportunity to receive training beyond the APA! walls and am currently living in the Houston area. I like to think of it as “studying abroad!” I’ve received some one-on-one attention from my trainer friend at Gray Wolf Canine Rehabilitation who has helped me further work through some challenges. Now with some extra coursework, I’m ready to graduate out of the sheltering system and into an adoptive home! And as soon as I find a home, my spot at Gray Wolf gives another dog just like me a chance to broaden their horizons! What I've worked on at GWCR: I grew up in a loving home with a family surrounding me! Through no fault of my own, I landed in the shelter system, and became stuck. Over the last 3 years in the shelter, I developed separation anxiety when left alone and struggled to connect with the dog friends I used to play with. During my time at GWCR, I've become accustomed to spending time in the crate and developed a routine to manage my anxiety, practiced introductions to new dogs, and figured out my favorite enrichments and activities to keep me nurtured. All I need now is a caring home to take me in and keep me out of the shelter system forever! I would prefer a lower traffic home, but can be flexible with more management. I would enjoy living with the right dog friend, provided we get to meet first!

I am a handsome 10 year old fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to my owner no longer being able to give me the attention and space I deserve. I am a proud member of the rescue's Silver Heart program so be sure and ask about it because there are many perks for my adoptive family! I am described as friendly, active, protective, playful, and obedient! I do not live with other dogs or children but it is said that I am dog and kid friendly! I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I am house trained, crate trained, have had obedience training, and at night I sleep in the living room on the floor. If the humans must be away I am said to do fine when left alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, squeaky toys, running, going for walks, getting love and pets, and playing in the water!
