Well it's time to come meet Bentley. He is potty trained, he rides great in the car, knows sit and takes his treats gently, he walks AMAZING on leash, loves affection. He would enjoy laying next to you on the couch watching Netflix or going for a walk. Although Bentley is not dog reactive, he would like to be the only pet in the home, he rather not share his toys with other fur friends, older kids 10+ due to him being timid/shy.  Bentley would love to have a backyard to go and sunbathe and enjoy the fresh air, and take a dip in the kiddie pool.  Bentley is a sweet, timid/shy boy! He needs a home that has patience and allows Bentley to feel secure and safe. Takes him a bit to warm up, but once he does, you are best friends for life. Bentley is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 12:14 am

Story
Scarlett caught herself in a bit of a jam, at 12 years old. Her owner that had adopted her at 1 years old, he decided she was no longer a fit for his family. No behavior or health decline, he simply decided, she was no longer welcome. Our friends in NY intervened, they were alerted of Scarlett’s situation thru a mutual friend. They quickly reached out to us and asked if we could assist in finding a temp foster for her, the owner was going to euthanize her the following day… but they would find placement and transport for Scarlett in NY. They just needed quick help. We couldn't help but to jump into action! Scarlett is the happiest, wiggliest, thickest little lass around! We decided to keep Scarlett here in AZ, she is so darling and easy, it didn’t seem fair to send her across the U.S. only to have to find another foster family, and start over again. She would do best with another male dog, her size. She is friendly to all, but does have a heavy interest in cats. So we are looking for a “no cat” home. Scarlett will greet you like you are her best friend she hasn’t seen in a few years!!! This girl is someone’s “once in a lifetime” dog! Interested in this lovely lady? Fill out an application for her here: https://www.handoverrover.org/adoptionapplication

Story
Billy lived the first 2 years of his life on a 50 pound chain down the street from our house. I happened to be walking our dogs one afternoon, and decided to venture down a street I hadn’t been down before. I was knew to the area. There was Billy, barking and barking and barking, out of shear boredom, as he was aggressively pulling at the end of a giant chain attached to a tree. It took me a week to finally catch an owner that was home, and when I finally did, I asked him if I could walk his dog. He said no, he was far too strong, and “no one could walk that dog.” After talking to him about a million other things for 45 minutes, I asked again. Still a no. Finally after about an hour, after telling me “no” to walking his dog 3 times, I not only got him to agree to let me walk him, but he also agreed to surrender him to me!!! Billy was one of the toughest dogs I had worked with in my dog training career up until that point. He was WILDLY reactive, and rightfully so, he lived on a chain his entire life and was ready to be a dog!! I changed the way I trained dogs. It was no longer, “my way because I pay the bills”, it changed to “how can I help you trust me?” Over the next year, I worked relentlessly to train WITH Billy, so he could do cool things out in public. His transformation was incredible. About a year into his training Sarah joined the team, and she has cleaned up his obedience, taught him multiple new commands, and has taken him from a “pretty cool dog” to a “stellar, dialed in DREAM of a dog”!!! Sarah has taught Billy tricks and commands that I didn’t even know a dog could learn??!!! He is the best dog we have :) Billy will do best as an only dog. He lives with other dogs, and trains with them, but his play style is rough, and dominating. Which doesn’t pair well with most dogs. He is looking for an experienced owner that wants to continue working his obedience and teaching him cool things to do… so he can go on all the adventures!!! Interested in Billy? SENIOR GARY Sweet, well behaved, polite older gent looking for a forever retirement home! Gary sleeps through the night like a baby 8 to 9 hours. Appears to be potty trained and had no accidents in his foster home. Gary never jumped on anyone or barked. Gary is fast friends with all of the people he meets. He was curious about the cat in the foster home but just seemed to want to be friends!

Not good with kids, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ezio is a great, fun, energetic, and cuddly dog. He is 5 years old and always wants to play. He needs a home without young children and with someone who has the time to give him all the attention he needs. He does okay with adults and older children. He loves walks outside, he loves playing, and he loves cuddling on the couch whenever he can get a chance. He hasn’t been adjusting well with our two year old and we have a new baby and behavior we thought was getting better has now just gotten worse. We’re not sure he will do well with other dogs.
