Story
Luna is a spunky, energetic 6 year old pittie/staffie/boxer mix that loves to cuddle under warm blankets, fetch balls, take long walks, and could tug all day without getting tired. She enjoys car rides, hikes, and trampolines and will even cry when she sees one because she wants to play on it so bad. She is eager to please, and food motivated so could definitely learn new tricks. Luna has been with me all her life, she is the dog you get in your twenties that changes your life for the better and she has done that for me but life happens and families grow and unfortunately Luna requires a household with no other pets or small children. She would thrive with an experienced owner that can handle her unique behaviors and reactivity. Please give this beautiful girl a chance

Story
It breaks my heart to have to make this post, but I’m looking to rehome my one-year-old female pitbull. We’ve had her since she was a puppy, and unfortunately, over the past year she and my oldest female dog have not been able to get along. I’ve done my best to keep them separated, but with five dogs in the home, it’s become extremely difficult to manage safely. She is truly a sweet girl—great with kids, very loving, and always ready to cuddle. She does have a lot of energy and would do best in a home where she is the only pet and can get the time, attention, and exercise she deserves. She is spayed and up to date on her rabies vaccination. We love her dearly, and this is not a decision we’ve made lightly. I just want to find her a safe, loving home where she can thrive. If you’re interested or have any questions, please message me.

Story
Hello everyone! My name is Rocky and I am a 4 year old American Pitbull Terrier. I am a very affectionate boy who also is very protective of my family. I have TONS of energy and would fare better with an active family that has a yard for me to play/explore. I don’t do well with other dogs being that I have been attacked twice…so needless to say I’m leery of other dogs. I am afraid of thunder and prefer to sleep under my blanket and in a quiet place during thunderstorms. I need help with leash manners as I tend to pull to get to what I want. (Yes…I’m physically strong, headstrong and stubborn). I have no food aggression and love to cuddle with my people. Mom is willing to have me neutered before I go with you to my forever home. Anything else? Just ask mom and she will let you know ❤️

Story
Hank · 3 years old · Pit Bull Terrier · Neutered Male · 74 lbs · Available in Foster Care ⭐ Adoption Fee: $0.00 (Sponsored) Meet Hank, a bright, affectionate, and energetic young dog who is ready for his next chapter. He’s a strong, athletic boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Hank enjoys being around people and has a playful, social nature. He loves being included in daily life, whether that’s going for walks, spending time outside, playing with toys, or simply hanging out with his people. He’s happiest when he has something to do and someone to share it with. Hank is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. He sleeps well through the night and continues to make progress with car rides, riding most comfortably when crated. In his foster home, Hank has shown himself to be social, engaging, and eager to be part of the action. He enjoys playtime, toys, and interacting with his environment. Like many young, active dogs, he is still working on impulse control and continues to benefit from consistency and structure. In the yard, Hank may show interest in passing cars and will watch or follow them along the fence line. The good news is he has already made progress in this area and no longer barks at them as he once did. With continued redirection and routine, he continues to improve. Hank is a smart, energetic dog who thrives when given both physical and mental outlets. He would do best in an active home that enjoys walks, training games, enrichment activities, and outdoor adventures such as hiking, exploring, or even dog sports like dock diving. He loves having both physical and mental outlets and truly shines when he is included in daily adventures, has a job to do, and a person to bond with. 🐾 Hank’s Highlights: ✔ 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier ✔ 74 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines ✔ Crate-trained and house-trained ✔ Knows basic commands (sit, stay, come) ✔ Friendly, affectionate, and people-oriented ✔ Playful, active, and highly engaging ✔ Doing well in foster care and continuing to improve daily ✔ Car travel is improving, rides best in a crate ✔ Enjoys activity, toys, and being involved in daily life ✔ Has shown improvement with fence-line car interest and no longer barks at passing vehicles If you have other dog(s), a meet and greet at the shelter is required 💙 Foster Notes: Hank is a fun, engaging dog who enjoys being part of whatever is happening. He loves toys, playtime, and interaction with people. He is strong, healthy, and thrives with routine and structure. He continues to improve with consistency and clear guidance. Hank is currently in foster care. Please call to schedule an appointment to meet him. 407 W. Story
Meet Braxton Braxton · 9 years old · Pit Bull Mix · 74 lbs · Neutered Male · Available in Foster Care ⭐ Adoption Fee: $0.00 (generously sponsored) Braxton has been through a huge transformation, and now that he’s feeling better physically, his personality has truly come to life. Braxton came to the shelter after sadly losing his owner, and despite all the changes in his life, he has continued to show what a resilient, loving dog he is. When Braxton first arrived at the shelter, he weighed 116 lbs and had a painful mass on his toe that ultimately required amputation. Since surgery and his incredible weight-loss journey, he has become more active, playful, and comfortable than ever before. Now down to 74 lbs, Braxton has nothing holding him back from continuing to thrive. In foster care, he enjoys his daily walks and even likes to trot ahead proudly while exploring. He absolutely loves tug-of-war and gets excited for playtime every day. Once he gets his energy out, he’s happy to relax and settle in nearby for the rest of the evening. Braxton rides exceptionally well in the car and has gone on multiple long trips without making a sound. He has also met many new people including men, women, and older children and has done wonderfully. His foster describes him as affectionate, social, and easy to have around. He has done well living with another dog in foster care and has shown positive interest in dogs during shelter playgroups. Like many dogs, he can become excited around food or treats and does best with structure and supervision during high-value moments. Feeding separately and maintaining clear boundaries help him succeed. Braxton is proof that dogs can absolutely blossom with comfort, care, and a chance to feel good again. At 9 years old, he still has so much life, personality, companionship, and love left to give. Now all he’s missing is a home of his own. 🐾 Braxton’s Highlights: ✔ 9-year-old Pit Bull mix ✔ Down from 116 lbs to a healthier 74 lbs ✔ Neutered, vaccinated, and ready for adoption ✔ Feeling better than ever after toe surgery and weight loss ✔ Playful personality that continues to blossom in foster care ✔ Loves walks, tug-of-war, car rides, and spending time with people ✔ Affectionate, social, and friendly with visitors of all ages ✔ Has done well with other dogs with proper structure and supervision ✔ Calm and quiet passenger in the car ✔ Adoption fee sponsored ($0.00) If you have other dog(s), a meet and greet at the shelter is required 💙 Foster Notes: “Braxton is becoming more active. We’ve been taking a short walk each day and he likes to run ahead of me. We also play tug-of-war every day and he seems strong and healthy. He has a great appetite and pretty much sleeps the rest of the day afterward. He rides in the car very well and really enjoys it. He’s taken multiple hour-plus trips and never makes a peep. He’s met at least 10 new people, including men, women, and kids, and did great with all of them.” Braxton is currently in foster care. Please call to schedule an appointment to meet him. 407 W. Story
🐾 Meet Roscoe (aka Duck) – Your Wiggly, Happy-Go-Lucky Buddy 5 Years Old · 64 lbs · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Mix Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s Duck! This sweet, tan and white boy has a personality as big as his ears, and he’s ready to bring joy and cuddles to a forever home. When Duck first came to the shelter, he was stressed and scared. He lost weight, injured his face against his kennel door, and would spin in his kennel while barking at everyone who walked by. But as soon as Duck arrived in his foster home, he became a totally new dog. In his foster home, he has blossomed into a relaxed, happy, and affectionate companion. He loves snuggling into his crate for a cozy rest, playing with his foster brother, and greeting new people with wiggly excitement. He’s still learning not to jump up when he’s excited, but who could resist that enthusiasm? Duck has had limited, managed interactions with children and has done well, so with proper introductions and supervision, he could potentially live with kids. Duck enjoys walks and hikes, and while he had leash reactivity toward other dogs in his previous home, he walks very well next to his foster brother and seems comfortable with careful introductions. He’s fully housebroken, crate trained, and has even learned to use a doggy door in his foster home. What you should know about Duck: ✔️ Fully housebroken and crate trained ✔️ Walks well on leash next to his foster brother ✔️ Loves snuggling in his crate or on the couch ✔️ Playful with dogs after proper introductions ✔️ Gentle, happy, and wiggly when greeting people ✔️ Has done well with limited, supervised interactions with children ✨ Best suited for a home with adults or children who can match his excitement and provide love, structure, and plenty of snuggles. Roscoe (aka) Duck is currently in foster care, please call to schedule a meet and greet Caroline County Humane Society 407 W.
