Story
My name is Murphy and I am a gorgeous brindle boy.  Per my DNA test I'm 37% American pitbull terrier, 12% Australian cattle dog and 7% Labrador retriever. I am a good boy, sadly I've been at the shelter for a long time :( and here is what you need to know:  I need a home with a great leader who can continue my current routines, I'm kennel trained and muzzle trained if you live in an area where i need to wear a muzzle to go for walk. I know sit, down, wait, I love walks and hikes, car rides, belly rubs under the sun, eating ice, doing zoomies on the snow, and I love people!  I have a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for me. I like children but I think it's best that I live with older ones as I might be a little too strong for them. If you think I can come to your house and show you what a good boy I am, please reach out and let's meet!   Thank you!!!  Love, Murphy.  Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. The adoption fee is $100 plus tax and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter and a home training session.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com. Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Story
Hi, my name is Sigh and I have been looking for my forever home for over a year. I used to have a home and due to my pawrents separating I found myself at a shelter. I couldn’t understand why, if I had done nothing wrong, why? It was so hard on me, I used to sleep on a comfy bed and leaving my home expose to other dogs and loud noises made me very sad and anxious, that’s why I prefer to be the only fur child but I love kids :) I was taken in for training and that changed my life! I love learning and my favorite sport is agility. I know sit, down, stay, come, “give me paw”, turn around, roll over, “find it”, and during my free time I love sleeping on a warm human lap and giving kisses. Oh! Did I say I’m kennel trained? I know my dream home is out there, I just need you to see the big heart I have, I’d love to play with kids, and could learn to live with cats and I'd need a 6 foot fenced yard…. Or I could live with someone who wants walks and snuggles .. . It’s all up to you!    Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some,                                                                       and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. Story
LeRoy is a 4 yr American Pit Bull Terrier!  He ended up at the shelter by no fault of his own, his owner unexpectedly passed away.  LeRoy is big on exercise and enjoys his walks, he would be an excellent jogging buddy. His favorite yard activities are playing tug-o-war and fetch with his humans. LeRoy is DTC (Down to cuddle) and enjoys nothing more than snuggling up with his favorite blankies and stuffies. While he does really good with sit stay shake, LeRoy could use a refresher on his leash manners since he pulls a little but does pretty good with a harnesss leash, but who doesn't have a few rough edges.  With some treats and a whole lot of love, LeRoy will be walking like a pro in no time. Come check out LeRoy and see if he's the pup to complete your family. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel. Story
Ripley is a sweet, gentle girl.  Her owner passed away so she is looking for a new home.  She is spayed and current on vaccinations.  She is around 60lbs and loves everyone but does not realize her size and strength so a home with older kids or no one she can knock over.  She is about 3 yrs old.   She is housetrained and does not get into anything.  She loves to cuddle and go for walks.    A $100 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. Story
***Courtesy Post*** Blue is a 2 yr old pitbull/boxer mix.  She is full of energy, loves to fetch, plays tug of war, and is a real delight.  She needs a home where she can be the center of attention. Blue really loves adults and kids but is jealous of other pets getting attention so she needs to be an only pet (at least till she gets some more training).Blue is a sweet silly girl.  She is spayed, also microchipped and current on vaccinations.   She is house-trained by using either Christmas bells to indicate she needs to go out or she will walk back over to you and stare at you. Also, kennel trained and not possessive with it. Blue does know her basic commands like sit, stay, and quiet but sometimes is stubborn and wants treats. Her favorite is salted peanuts from Costco.   Blue's favorite playtime is fetch or tug of war with tennis balls or stuffed animals with a texture like a crinkle material or rubber pieces. She also has this funny habit of running in circles when you try to pet her butt.  She is named after the raptor in Jurassic Park because if you are using the bathroom and close the door on her she huffs and makes raptor noises from under the door. Story
Ryder (b. 4/30/2021) pittie mix who was rescued from a terrible domestic violence situation.  Ryder is super sweet ONCE YOU HAVE GAINED HIS TRUST, but still feels fearful in new situations and will bark at strangers. He does take a while to warm up to new people and will need need a few meet and greets before an adoption can be finialized.  He LOVES walks and playing with other dogs. He knows his manners well and is fully potty trained. He's still blossoming into his own confident self so check back for more updates!  Before applying to adopt Ryder, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.  The suggested adoption donation for Ryder is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. All donations go toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, providing supportive services to animals in homes, and funding for special programs like Muddy Paws Parvo Puppy Project. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page.  ##1196657##
