Story
Black Jack came to the Midwest from Northern California. He grew up with a full sized Alfa male bulldog around the same age and a snippy female chihuahua. He was raised on an acreage aside a mountain. The family had children of 6, 12 and 16yrs old, Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Grandma. He was well taken care of but unable to keep within the property due to its large border line as well as other neighboring female dogs in heat. Due to escaping and entering other properties, he had to go. Since then he was temporarily fostered until he was brought to eastern NE western IA as a well mannered companion. He’s never shown aggression towards any other dogs or people, though he has a deep tone when playing excitedly. He does chase rabbits, squirrels. He is very gentle but he does lightly nibble on sleeves to direct individuals to pet, walk or let out. He is a gentle giant who’s been kenneled but never been crated. He’s the best companion and traveled so much that he has no spacial aggression.

Story
Major is a 5-year-and-4-month-old Bully mix, tug-toy connoisseur, and slow-living enthusiast who has been with us since 7/9/2022. If you’re looking for a dog who blooms under structure, adores predictable routines, and gives his whole heart to the person he trusts, Major just might be your guy. Major has had a couple of concerning bite incidents in the past—one involving a surprise encounter (based on the information we were given) prior to his arrival at Town and Country Animal Rescue (TAC) and another involving an unsolicited bite to a volunteer at TAC. While the reasons weren’t entirely clear, what was clear was that Major needed more support than we could provide on our own. So we partnered with a professional trainer, and for the last three months Major has been putting in the work. And wow—has he grown. Under leadership, Major absolutely thrives. He responds beautifully to clear communication, calm handlers, and environments where he knows what to expect. He’s come leaps and bounds in training, showing us every day that he wants to succeed and that he’s capable of being an incredible companion in the right home. Major’s ideal lifestyle? - Slow-paced days - Predictable routines - Low traffic housing (no apartment/shared living building spaces)  - A human he can depend on And above all else… his beloved purple tug toy (seriously—this thing is his personality at this point) To give Major the very best shot at success in his new home, his adoption will include a required training component: - One session per week for four weeks with Major’s professional trainer - At no cost to the adopter This ensures a smooth, supported transition and keeps Major practicing the skills he’s worked so hard to build. Major is the type of dog who bonds deeply, listens intently, and puts in genuine effort when he feels safe and understood. He’s not a “wing it” kind of guy—he’s a “give me a plan, give me a leader, and I will give you everything I’ve got” kind of dog. After over two years in the shelter, Major is more than ready for his chance. If you’re experienced, patient, and looking for a loyal, structured companion who will reward your consistency with devotion (and spirited tug sessions), Major may be the perfect match. Come meet him—and don’t forget the purple tug toy. Part of Major's adoption has been sponsored, so his adoption fee is $100 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family and pets for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them. Story
Sadie is a young Pitbull Terrier (born 2022) who is hoping for a new family who will play with her and teach her new things.  She is friendly with people of all ages as well as other pets.  The perfect home for Sadie would be with a family who has time to spend with her and give her the appropriate training that she needs.  She is leash trained and knows some commands.   Sadie does well in a crate, but may need a little help with potty training.   She won't make messes in her kenneI and if she's able to go outside within 30 minutes after drinking water, she'll be OK.   A fenced in yard is needed in her new home, she has lots of energy and would love to be able to run around and play outside.  When she comes inside, she'll be very happy to rest in your lap and give kisses! The suggested adoption donation for Sadie is $250, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Before applying to adopt Sadie, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2525839##
