Story
Beebop (b. 9/2019) was transferred to Muddy Paws from a local shelter, where she had been placed in the after-hours kennels with a note.  The note explained that she had been removed from a terrible situation where she was severely beaten, starved, and otherwise abused.  She was also deaf.  It went on to say that they thought she had suffered brain damage from past injuries.  After the initial exam, the shelter staff contacted Muddy Paws to see if we could take her due to her needing more intensive long-term help than they were able to accommodate. BeeBop is a sassy girl who loves to be by her person.  She is alright with other dogs, but because of her "odd" behaviors, a gentle, well-socialized dog would work best.  No children because she really doesn't like a lot of physical contact and gets nippy on occasion. BeeBop also demonstrates behavior that we refer to as Obsessive Compulsive.  She sometimes will get in behavioral "loops" where she will run around the house, turning an occasional circle and hitting her nose on the ground.  These patterns of behavior are easily broken when she gets redirected by a chewy treat, a toy, or just flashing a flashlight at her feet to break her concentration.  These episodes have gotten much fewer and farther between with behavior modification and medications, and she no longer bangs her head unless she is very frustrated.  Beebop loves to go outside and run, or run in the house.  She does sometimes barks when running, so would not do well in an apartment. In spite of all BeeBop's challenges, she is an amazing dog!  She is smart and is learning sign language.  She knows "potty", "treat", "no",  and "kennel" just to name a few.  She is potty trained when let out, but won't tell you when she has to go.  She is good in a kennel and enjoys treats and a good meal.  BeeBop does not know how loud she is so when she is mad, or having fun, she has the loudest noises come out of her that can only be described as a bark/chirp/scream.  Need we say that apartment life would just not be her cup of tea?  We don't think so. So with all that said, BeeBop would do great in a home that is willing to work with her to help her find her best life.   Muddy Paws is looking for potential fosters OR adopters for this girl. The suggested adoption donation for Beebop is $215. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BeeBop's care in our rescue is currently being supported by our "Muddy Paws Partners." Here are their letters of love! "Just look at that face! BeeBop is a sassy girl who loves to be by her person.  Adopt her!" - Gerri Brunow Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. Story
Luca (b.3/6/2022) is a blue-nose, male pittie.  He is the sweetest boy who is looking for a place to call home!  Luca has lots of playful energy and loves his chew toys, crawling on laps, and snuggling! Lucas is potty trained and crate trained and can be left alone without being destructive. He can be a little shy at first and will need slow introductions to new dog friends but would like to have a buddy about his size and close in energy level. He does love his food/high value chews though and doesn’t want anyone around while he enjoys them. Luca would love a home that will provide consistent calming enrichment and continual positive reinforcement training. He would be good in a home with older children that respect his space when he needs it. Must live within a 50 mile radius of Omaha/Council Bluffs to continue working with the trainer.  The suggested adoption donation for Luca is $300.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or adopter will be in breach of contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alter to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately after the procedure is complete. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Story
Ellie (b 6/2023) is a sweet Pitbull and looking for her furever home.  She loves to be with her pack/family, chew, play games (fetch, chase, tug), and will do a trick for a treat.  She is still very much a puppy and is working on manners.  Ellie is a little escape artist, so it will be important for her to have a yard with a reinforced fence.  She is good with kids (ages 5+) and other dogs.  Ellie is full of energy, so she might be too much for senior dogs.  If you are looking for a dog that is ready to play, but also ready to cuddle, then Ellie is for you! The suggested adoption donation for Ellie is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Rex, the bubbly Lab/Pitbull mix born on 8/20/2020, embarked on a new chapter full of exciting possibilities after being lovingly surrendered by his previous owners due to a change in neighborhood regulations. Despite initial challenges adjusting to a fenced-free environment, Rex is now on a joyous journey to find his forever home with the help of Muddy Paws. His former owners' unwavering love shines through as they collaborate with a Muddy Paws trainer to enhance Rex's adoptability by addressing his dog reactivity. The future adopter of Rex will have access to ongoing support from a trainer, ensuring a smooth transition and enriched bond. Sporting his winning Lab/Pitbull charm, Rex adores kids and exudes near-perfection in every way, except for his little quirk of preferring to be the sole furry friend in the household. While other dogs might stir some anxiety in Rex, his kind nature shines through, evident from the harmonious coexistence he shared with a companion in his previous home. Let's brighten Rex's world by welcoming him into a loving family where his vibrant personality can truly blossom! Before applying to adopt this dog, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. The suggested adoption donation for Rex is $315.   We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Story
Say hello to Coco (b. 1/13/2023), a Pit/Lab mix. Try as you might, you won't find a sweeter girl. Coco is a low maintenance gal who loves the simple life and only needs three things to be happy; food, cuddles, and playing with the hose! Coco loves a good bone or nylon toy to chew when she's relaxing. While Coco likes to play with other dogs, she typically prefers to watch the action from the lap of her favorite human. Coco loves everyone she comes in contact with, and does great with other dogs.  She does SO great that we are requiring that the adopter have a friendly dog that she could play with.  If you don't have another dog, you might consider adopting her very best friend Harvey, another Muddy Paws dog. The suggested adoption donation for Coco is $350. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Melo is 8 years old (human years of course) I've had her since she was a puppy. She has been around kids, other animals and adults her entire life. She has had troubles with female dogs in the past (hence the reason i selected NO for good with other dogs) but she hasn't add any issues with male dogs nor humans and other pets. I've had ferrets around her with no issues. She has been around cats but never in close proximity; therefore, i am not sure on how she is with cats. The only reason I am looking to rehome her is because she has little to no human-interaction since i am at work for the majority the day or traveling. I held on for the longest for selfish reasons but I know her quality of life would greatly increase with having more human interaction. If you have any questions please let me know!

Story
***Courtesy Post*** Blue is a 2 yr old pitbull/boxer mix.  She is full of energy, loves to fetch, plays tug of war, and is a real delight.  She needs a home where she can be the center of attention. Blue really loves adults and kids but is jealous of other pets getting attention so she needs to be an only pet (at least till she gets some more training).Blue is a sweet silly girl.  She is spayed, also microchipped and current on vaccinations.   She is house-trained by using either Christmas bells to indicate she needs to go out or she will walk back over to you and stare at you. Also, kennel trained and not possessive with it. Blue does know her basic commands like sit, stay, and quiet but sometimes is stubborn and wants treats. Her favorite is salted peanuts from Costco.   Blue's favorite playtime is fetch or tug of war with tennis balls or stuffed animals with a texture like a crinkle material or rubber pieces. She also has this funny habit of running in circles when you try to pet her butt.  She is named after the raptor in Jurassic Park because if you are using the bathroom and close the door on her she huffs and makes raptor noises from under the door.  A $100 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.October 14, 2024, 1:23 pm

Story
This is Zeke, I got him from the humane society 2 years ago. He is approximately 3-4 years old. He is a healthy happy dog who loves people and children. Zeke is a very sweet and affectionate. He does not do well with cats or larger dogs, it is strongly recommended that he is the only pet in the house. He is housetrained and kennel trained. I unfortunately cannot keep Zeke due to having to move in with someone who has large dogs that he does not get along with. It breaks my heart to part with him and it would help me deal with it better if I knew he was going to a family with plenty of people to give him the love and attention he enjoys so much. Zeke would be a great family dog.

Story
My name is Murphy and I am a gorgeous brindle boy.  Per my DNA test I'm 37% American pitbull terrier, 12% Australian cattle dog and 7% Labrador retriever. I am a good boy, sadly I've been at the shelter for a long time :( and here is what you need to know:  I need a home with a great leader who can continue my current routines, I'm kennel trained and muzzle trained if you live in an area where i need to wear a muzzle to go for walk. I know sit, down, wait, I love walks and hikes, car rides, belly rubs under the sun, eating ice, doing zoomies on the snow, and I love people!  I have a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for me. I like children but I think it's best that I live with older ones as I might be a little too strong for them. If you think I can come to your house and show you what a good boy I am, please reach out and let's meet!   Thank you!!!  Love, Murphy.  Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. The adoption fee is $100 plus tax and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter and a home training session.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com. Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Story
FOSTER UPDATE: Three cheers for foster parents! Welcome to a little "magic moment" of rescue... Nova Lee's foster mom has been working with her on "stay" for some time and we are happy to share that it's been worth every minute. Nova Lee is no longer a door bolter! This smart girl is heading on to her next command "place," so her future family can look forward to a very smart, well-behaved sweetheart that's probably better trained than any teenager in the house... Nova Lee is a fun-loving Boxer Terrier who was born in April of 2016!  Nova Lee is a smart, busy girl who loves playing fetch, long walks, squirrel watching, and yard games; she's also quite the explorer so will need a backyard with a 6' fence to keep her close to home. She is a friendly girl who gets along with all people but she does NOT enjoy sharing her space with other dogs or cats.... as far as Nova's concerned she's the only 4-legged friend you'll need! She knows basic commands like "sit," "shake," and "ball," but her future family might be interested in working on "stay" --  Nova has learned indoor manners and is perfectly content keeping your spot on the couch warm while you're away from home. Because of these good manners she is not kenneled regularly, but on the rare occassion when she is (out of town visits with family, for example) she pouts for a bit but settles down on her own. Nova is 100% housebroken and will whine to indicate that she needs to go outside to potty. Nova is working on her leash manners... she gets excited and pulls but is working through it with her foster family. According to her foster mom, Nova growls when you play tug of war with her but in a playful way; however, due to her high energy and playful personaiity we think that any kids in her future home should be over the age of 15. Recently, her foster mom discovered that Nova has taken a liking to a particular house slipper... she says that Nova doesn't chew on it she just carries it to her bed and sleeps with it like a stuffed animal! This sweetheart is eager to find a family that will give her the attention, love, and all the birthday cake she deserves! NOTICE:  Nova is dog reactive and is working with a trainer on this behavior.  However, she WILL REQUIRE adopter to work with a trainer free of charge to provide a continuity to her training and help her transition to a new home. The suggested adoption donation for Nova Lee is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Say hello to Ronan (b. 10/2021) a Boxer/Pit mix.  Ronan is a loving and sweet energetic pup.  He loves to play with his foster sister, but equally loves to cuddle up on the couch with her and his people afterwards. Ronan is a very happy/good natured pup - he always walks with a pep in his step and has the biggest smile on his face no matter what he is doing. He is high energy and does always realize his size.  He especially has a lot of energy when he's excited, but has been making great improvements with training. He knows some commands, sit, shake, and stay.  He's also been working on lay down. Let's find this sweet boy a place of his own!  The suggested adoption donation for Ronan is $375. If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter to take the pet to be altered at NHS free of charge.
