Story
Beebop (b. 9/2019) was transferred to Muddy Paws from a local shelter, where she had been placed in the after-hours kennels with a note. The note explained that she had been removed from a terrible situation where she was severely beaten, starved, and otherwise abused. She was also deaf. It went on to say that they thought she had suffered brain damage from past injuries. After the initial exam, the shelter staff contacted Muddy Paws to see if we could take her due to her needing more intensive long-term help than they were able to accommodate.
BeeBop is a sassy girl who loves to be by her person. She is alright with other dogs, but because of her "odd" behaviors, a gentle, well-socialized dog would work best. No children because she really doesn't like a lot of physical contact and gets nippy on occasion.
BeeBop also demonstrates behavior that we refer to as Obsessive Compulsive. She sometimes will get in behavioral "loops" where she will run around the house, turning an occasional circle and hitting her nose on the ground. These patterns of behavior are easily broken when she gets redirected by a chewy treat, a toy, or just flashing a flashlight at her feet to break her concentration. These episodes have gotten much fewer and farther between with behavior modification and medications, and she no longer bangs her head unless she is very frustrated. Beebop loves to go outside and run, or run in the house. She does sometimes barks when running, so would not do well in an apartment.
In spite of all BeeBop's challenges, she is an amazing dog! She is smart and is learning sign language. She knows "potty", "treat", "no", and "kennel" just to name a few. She is potty trained when let out, but won't tell you when she has to go. She is good in a kennel and enjoys treats and a good meal. BeeBop does not know how loud she is so when she is mad, or having fun, she has the loudest noises come out of her that can only be described as a bark/chirp/scream. Need we say that apartment life would just not be her cup of tea? We don't think so.
So with all that said, BeeBop would do great in a home that is willing to work with her to help her find her best life. Â
Muddy Paws is looking for potential fosters ORÂ adopters for this girl.
The suggested adoption donation for Beebop is $215. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
BeeBop's care in our rescue is currently being supported by our "Muddy Paws Partners." Here are their letters of love! "Just look at that face! BeeBop is a sassy girl who loves to be by her person.  Adopt her!" - Gerri Brunow
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
