Story
Are you ready for the pool?? Patches says YES! With the warmer temps coming up, let's play together and splash in the baby pool! Patches has the biggest, most infectious smile! Patches is a good companion in the car and well behaved. Wanna grab a coffe and a Pup-o-chino or ice cream, Patches is happy to join you!  This girl is a road trip fanatic!  She loves everyone she meets and vice versa. Patches has been to doggie daycare, and she does well with all the other dogs and humans.  She has a lot of energy so other playful pups in her adoptive family will be awesome!    Patches will need a home with  fence because she has a lot of energy and wants to run around and play.  Patches could be an only pup or in a family with another sweet, playful and fun furry sibling(s). Patches lives with other dogs currently in her foster home. Are you looking for a pup that enjoys the water for your Spring/Summer fun?  Patches says pick her!    She is good with other dogs and children but may be too rambunctious for children under 10 years of age due to her size. She has that happy puppy personality and is still working on her manners but she’s improving every day.  She knows the words No, Sit and Stay and is crate trained. She is a sweet girl and loves to cuddle and be loved.  She loves food and is very food motivated which is helpful for training purposes. She is very smart and a fast learner. She will sit patiently while you prepare her meals. As part of Patches's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patches, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org ##1073223##

Story
Would your laid back dog like a new furry sibling? Damon really enjoys his foster sister. She is his buddy and gives him an extra bit of confidence when they are together. They enjoy playing together either in the fenced yard or in the house. He seems to enjoy romping around in the house more so a fenced yard (so an apartment, condo, or townhown could be an option!!) isn't required as long as he gets daily play time and walks. He is doing good on a leash but will pull occasionally; we are working on this when we go out for walks.   He is a very sweet dog!! He does like to learn new tricks, but it takes him forever to process and learn; treats definitely help the motivation. So far he has learned "sit" and "house" (crate) and we are working on "wait" and "lay down." We believe Damon is just super smart and the longer it takes the MORE treats he gets! He is likely saying, "I am smarter than you think I am" the entire time!!   Damon would love a nice comfy, fluffy bed because he loves to nap as much as he loves to play with other dogs. He can be quite the couch potato and enjoys chillin' out while you work, watch TV, or read a book. He is quite the velcro dog in a lot of ways; loves to be with his people; getting love, attention and belly rubs! He really isn't a huge fan of being left alone, so a family that has school or work from home, retired, or a pretty flexible home schedule will be the best fit for snuggle boy Damon. Plus, he loves the car so if you are packing up and can take him with you, double bonus!! He will whine and cry if left alone becuase he really wants to be with his family.   He can also be a "sous chef" in the kitchen. If you are cooking, he won't hesitate to be as "helpful" as he can possible be; don't turn your back because he is happy to be a "taste tester"!   He gets a long nicely with all the doggies he has met and even does ok with the kitties, too. He will chase them if they take off running, but hasn't done any harm, so dog savvy cats should be good to go. Stranger isn't a word Damon understands as he has been friendly with everyone he has met. Damon has not had an opportunity to meet young children yet.   He shares his toys well but can also be know for hogging them up.  Maybe he didn't have a lot of toys in his previous life and is just so happy to have so many options, soft, squeaky, tug-o-war, etc. He loves to take the soft toys and tear them apart. It's a fun and playful "how fast can I get this done" kind of a thing. Pretty sure he is smiling the whole time!   Damon is still a little mouthy when he is excited, and he will grab you, clothes, toys, or shoes, so it is a behavior we working on. If he goes in his crate he will occasionally chew his bedding. Likely with time and a little patience these behaviors will continue to improve.   Damon is heartworm positive. Please don’t let this prevent you from adopting him. He deserves a loving home like all of the other dogs, and the rescue will cover his heartworm treatment. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC) until after her treatment is complete.   (DOB 07/30/2021) As part of Damon's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Damon, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1674635##

Story
Cookie believes she's a little lapdog even though she's a medium size pup. She loves to snuggle with her human! In addition to her amazing ears that you can't miss, if you look closely, you can also see her smile. She is definitely a beautiful girl - inside and out!! Cookie's ideal home would be with someone who wants to spoil her and show her love and affection.   Cookie's foster mom says this is a typical day for this sweet girl, "Cookie is fed twice a day and water is always left out. When I go to work she is in the crate until I get home. Otherwise she is loose in the house. I have a doggie door, so she is able to go in and out as she pleases. She sleeps on the couch. Sorry, I spoiled her by letting her on the furniture, but she deserves it!"   Cookie wants a fenced (4ft+) yard in her new home; she loves being outside. Cookie loves to play rough with her foster sister inside the house or outside in the fenced yard. She uses a doggie door at her forster mom's house and loves being able to go in and out. We don't thinnk Cookie had much experience with walking on a leash before she found her foster mom, so she still pulls and needs positive reinforcement training and patience. Cookie will sit on command and knows to sit nice in order to be fed.   Cookie can be very interested in what's going outside so be smart when you open the door; she is a bit of a door dasher. She's also a little nosey when it comes to all those tasty food items on the counter and can try and be sly to grab a morsal or two. Her foster mom is working on her counter surfacing skills and redirecting Cookie. Just don't turn your back on her in kitchen though...she sometimes cannot fight the temptation of sneaking a taste of your delicious cooking!   She loves all kinds of toys, but can shred a plush toy in record time, so feel free to break out your stop watch on this one! So if you aren't feeling like picking up the pieces and replacing them all of the time, get Cookie some hard, solid, tough toys, Kongs, etc.   Cookie hasn't had an opportunity to meet little people, yet. She is friendly with adults and friends that have come over to her house. She also loves car rides and going place. So if you want a road trip companion, Cookie would be a great choice. We think Cookie would be fine as an only dog. If you have another pup, they have to be ready to handle her rough style of play. Remember slow introductions with new family members is best.   DOB (02/13/2021) As part of Cookie's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Cookie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1681533##

Story
Grey, gorgeous and a little bit glammmy -- Maizee is ready to meet new friends and fans! Maizee just loves being a part of gatherings in the home. She truly LOVES guests!   Maizee "works at home" with her foster mom and is a quiet co-worker. She chills in the office while working, mostly lounging on her bed with her favorite teddy, monkey, or chewing her deer antler. She is also a great reminder, to take a break from work, and go out for some fresh air, a little walk, and a potty break.   Ideal home will have dedicated time to love on Maizee and spoil her. She's sweet and knows no stranger and loves being with her people. If you have a home without a fenced yard, no problem!! Maizee walks nicely on a leash and enjoys daily strolls to sniff and check out the world. In the home, she really is a bit lazy and happy being a couch potato. She will sit with you and be a great snuggler. She is very happy to give you a daily dose of kisses, too. She does get the occassional zoomies, to burn off that extra bit of energy - so cute!   While she does well with cats, and the right energy level dogs, she LOVES little puppies as well as small children, she would THRIVE if she was the only one competing for attention. She coexists very well with her foster's cats (she will chase if they run) and the Chihuahua and respects their response when they tell her they don't want to play. Maizee is primarily self-entertained and eager to be with her person with low interest in other animals she knows.   Maziee is smart and food/treat motivated, so she is a willing and happy participant for daily practice of basic commands. She is also easily redirected except for maybe food on the counter. She still tempted by those yummy smells so just know to keep your eye out or she may help herself to a tasty treat.   Maziee has daily kennel time from 12-4pm and is kenneled to run errands due to some separation anxiety. She does well in her kennel but not alone in the house for extended periods of time. When possible, she tags along for car rides on errands. She loves car rides and any adventure you are up for!   DOB 11/02/2018 female, Pit mix. As part of Maizee's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Maizee, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1584179##

Story
Hapa is an amazing young dog. She is very loving and loves meeting new people. She always loves to play and is house trained, kennel trained and leased trained. We adopted her as a puppy and had her since. She’s a little over a year old. With our current situation, it makes it really hard for us to give her the attention she deserves. We want her to go to a really good home.
