Story
Meet Mr. Jack! We know, we know, HE IS SO HANDSOME!! Jack is also extremely sweet and LOVES belly rubs. He is great with other pups his size and larger, but hasn’t been around small dogs or kids. We do know that he isn’t a fan of cats though and likes to chase the small rodents in the yard. Jack LOVES to eat and is very food motivated, which is great for training. He knows his basic commands, but can be stubborn at times and likes to be bribed with a treat. He is house+crate trained as well, and does very good in his crate! Jack has lots of energy and would LOVE a fenced in yard in his forever home. If not fenced in, then an active family that would like to take him on walks or runs, hikes, and family vacations of course! If Jack would be perfect for your family, please apply! He can’t wait to be part of your family! ================================================================= If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT NORTH TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
This beautiful girl is ready to be the STAR of your life!⭐️ Star is an approximately 5 year old female pittie girl. She is petite in frame and just a sweet, gentle love. She has been THRIVING in her foster home and now she is ready to find a family of her own!😍 This sweet girl loves belly rubs and laying around the house or outside in the sun. She is a BIG fan of stuffed animals and can be found carrying them around the house! Her foster mama has been teaching her how to decipher between kid toys and dog toys but sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference🤪 When asked about Star’s personality, her foster mom says “you will absolutely fall in love with this girl. She is sweet and just wants to be close to you! She is low energy and crate trained, and all she wants in life is a warm bed to lay her head on, and infinite belly rubs.”💕 Star is great with other dogs after proper introductions and has a dominant play style, so she does best with patient playmates who aren’t easily offended😉 She would do well in a home with or without another pup, and would LOVE to have kids in her forever home - she thinks they’re pretty awesome. Star would make the perfect companion for just about anyone willing to give her a chance.🐾 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. 🐾Juno🥰 Female, adult pittie mix that was "country before country was cool" 🤠 Unfortunately, Juno lost her human a year ago & she’s been trying to figure out what life has for her next🖤 Her foster mom has taught her to walk calmly on leash, sit, she's still working on " leave it"... and although she a medium to large girl, she thinks she is a lap dog! 💕 Smart, energetic, (will play tug of war with rope forever) & LOVES to fetch the ball!! 🎾 Beautiful, sensitive girl looking for her forever family 🏡 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. 🐾PEARL🎀 A lot of dog in a beautiful little package 😍 A “wiggle butt,” her backend never stops wiggling with joy and excitement!💥 ISO a family who will give her a lot of attention and LOVE🥰 She has a snort that kind of sounds like a laugh, and is obsessed with kissing!😘 She will wrestle her foster mom’s son to the floor and will lick his face for an hour if he were to let her. 🤪 She does like to chew things so stuffed animals and shoes need to be kept out of reach if they aren’t “hers”🧸 She is working on leash training and potty training and learning quickly! 💯 She LOVES to eat, especially treats, which will make her so fun to train! 🍪 She loves kids and adult humans once she gets to know them, and loves other dogs with proper introduction! 🐕 In her forever home, she needs a yard to run because she is always full of energy! One of her favorite things to do is to go in the driveway and roll over on her back and roll around. 🐾 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Snoop is a handsome 1 year old pup with the CUTEST features. He will be 2 on May 27th. He loves dogs, kids, belly rubs, loves to give kisses and get kisses, and everyone he meets. His foster describes him as the “very best dog” and wishes she had room to keep him🐾 He is potty trained and sleeps well in the kennel - you never hear a peep out of him! He rarely barks even when he is outside playing in our fenced in yard. He does chew when he is bored, but his foster family is working with him on this. He also rides well in the car and LOVES the dog park. He is the absolute messiest drinker of water and he has no clue he is making a mess. He also likes to walk his foster. 😂 We have been working on this. This boy is a great adventure buddy, but also a great snuggler, loves to sleep under the covers, and deserves the best life! He loves to play ball and bring it back, but only for a snack. 😂 He will make his forever family so happy and be their best friend, but it’s going to have to be the perfect fit since he came back to us at no fault of his own. His previous family just didn’t have time for him. He was wonderful with their kids. They are also willing to talk to a potential adopter. Snoop still goes to visit his former family because their son misses him so much. They want so much for him to find a wonderful forever home 💙 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
🎀 PHEE🐾 Phee is a female, 9 month old pittie/lab mix!🐶 Phee is very alert and takes notice of what is going on in a new situation. Her foster mom’s favorite thing she does is steal her big dog’s ball after he drops it at my feet to throw. He drops it and she will run up and grab it and run off with the ball. All the while wiggling her butt back and forth. 😆 She loves dogs & loves going to doggy day care. She has now learned to sit and is potty trained in her crate at night! She is still working on her dog walking skills and her nervousness with new people, but she has come a long way!She will need someone that is patient and eases her into her new home, and then she will have lots of love to give🖤 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Age: 5 months Size: 35 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull/Staffordshire bull terrier Perfect home: Zara has grown up with older kids 12 and older and done well with them. She has lived with cats but enjoys the chase, so needs a cat-free home. She loves the other dogs in her foster home who she's grown up with, but can be wary meeting new dogs, especially super energetic and playful ones. She would do okay with another dog her size (35 lbs) or larger with a slow introduction and decompression time. She'd also thrive as the only pup in the home!   Update from my foster 4/7: Zara is rocking it at her Board and Train! During her first week, we were helping her understand expectations and boundaries when it comes to food, bones, play time, and general manners. All the concerns she came with are now in the past and we are focusing on teaching her how to be the best puppy she can be. Which she's already amazing I might add. Seriously......if I were in the market to add to my zoo, Zara would be staying!! She is the best puppy and will make an amazing companion for the right family. Zara has been learning skills such as Sit, Focus, Orienting when called, Walking on leash, and Leave It this past week. Aside from those skills that are strictly verbal, we always start with hand cues and body language. Why? Because dogs don't understand English until it is taught to them. Dogs communicate through body language, so we work with them in ways they best understand before introducing a foreign language. She is super smart and quite the cuddler!   Zara and her family came to us under very sad circumstances. While conducting community outreach and providing straw and dog houses, our southern shelter partner came across mama Zainab and her fives babies, living outside in the middle of winter. Mama was chained up and had a heavy padlock around her collar, weighing her down. She was trying to nurse her five babies while she was already emaciated herself. Volunteers were able to convince the owners to surrender the puppies to them so they could seek immediate veterinarian care. Unfortunately, one of the puppies did not make it, but the remaining four puppies responded well to getting food in their tummies and warming up inside.    The Z litter is now safe in foster care and can't wait to find forever homes! They are super sweet, spunky little puppies. They love playing with each other and are currently in foster care with other dogs, a cat, and children. They are blank slates ready to be shaped and molded into the perfect dog by their forever families! They are looking for families with lots of time and patience to teach them everything a young dog needs to know.    To adopt Zara, please apply on our website! www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366July 18, 2024, 12:01 pm

Story
Age: 11 months Size: 51 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull/American Staffordshire terrier mix Perfect home: At least one other dog, no kids under 10 Update from my foster 4/7: Jude is one perfect puppy! He sleeps through the night better than my adult dogs, and I usually have to wake him up and force him to go outside in the morning/evening! He has not had any potty accidents in several months and will go to the door when he needs to go out, though he does get frequent breaks every 2-3 hours to go outside. He is crated when I leave the house and when he eats his meals, and he knows to go into the crate on his own. He sleeps in a dog bed in my bedroom at night and understands that he’s not allowed onto the human bed (the resident chihuahua’s rule, not mine). He is very respectful of all the other dogs in the home and is very submissive to them all. He has a bad habit of chasing the cats in the house but responds immediately when you tell him “no.” He’s not aggressive with them but does enjoy the chase, so if you have cats in the home they would need to be brave and dog-savvy enough to hold their ground and give him a good “boop” when he tries to chase. He is pretty low-key for a puppy but definitely still gets bursts of puppy energy where he will run zoomies in the yard, often throwing his favorite toy around on his own. He loves to fetch and is great about bringing the ball or toy back to you to throw it for him. If I didn’t have my grouchy senior chihuahua, I would definitely be keeping Jude - he is seriously the sweetest, gentlest, most well-behaved foster pup I have ever had the joy of fostering!   Jude was surrendered to the shelter when he was only 5 months old. He was extremely scared in the scary shelter environment, which is no place for a young puppy. Fortunately, a foster stepped up so we were able to get him out of the shelter and into a foster home while he looks for his forever home! Jude is around 7 months old and weighs 35 lbs, so we don’t anticipate he’ll be a super large dog! He is nervous with new people but always sweet with them. He warms up after a day or two and once he does, be ready to have a constant shadow by your side! He shares his foster home with multiple other dogs and cats who he does great with. Due to how shy he is initially, he would be happiest in a home with at least one resident dog to show him the ropes, and no young kids. He does well in his crate overnight and is picking up on house training quickly. He loves playing with other dogs and is a big fan of playing fetch, too! Jude is looking for a patient and loving family who can show him that people aren't so scary and demonstrate what unconditional love looks like!   To adopt Jude, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366July 18, 2024, 12:01 pm

Story
Age: 1 year Size: 50 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull terrier mix Perfect home: No cats   Laszlo was surrendered to a local shelter when he was only six weeks old, along with his siblings and his mom. Everyone was extremely malnourished, suffering from skin infections, dehydrated, and lethargic. We were able to get everyone into foster care, and each dog thrived and found forever families of their own!    Now, one month shy of his 1st birthday, Laszlo finds himself being returned to the rescue by the only family he's ever known, and our hearts are absolutely broken for him. Laszlo grew up with two little girls who he loved dearly, and reportedly looked for them whenever they left the house. He grew up with another large male dog, who he played well with, but also got into quite a few scuffles with. From what we can gather, their play would become too intense, causing the dogs to fight. This is an overstimulation issue and can easily be corrected and managed with training, especially since Laszlo was adopted when he was still a puppy. Unfortunately, his family didn't think training was necessary :( During a scuffle with the other resident dog, one of the children in the home tried to separate the dogs (no adults were present for the fight) and got bit.    Since being back in our care, we have seen not seen dog aggression from Laszlo. We see a dog who doesn’t know how to dog, and who does fine with low-key, submissive dogs. He does get overstimulated during play with alpha/more confident dogs. We are taking it slowly with him in order to set him up for success, but we feel with proper training and decompression time, he could live with the right match of a dog. He'd also do great as your one and only soaking up all the love and attention! Due to food scarcity issues while he was still a baby, Laszlo needs to be fed separate from other dogs. Fortunately he's great in his crate and has no problem eating his meals there!    We are committed to finding Laszlo a forever home who is as invested in his well-being as we are. After losing the only family he's known, he deserves the absolute best FOREVER home, one who will commit to training, daily exercise and mental stimulation, and plenty of love.    Laszlo will complete a professional board and train program in July to give him the training he never received in his first home. We’d love to line up a home for him directly after training! As an added bonus, his adopters will receive all three of his follow-up lessons with our professional trainer for free.   To adopt Laszlo, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age/breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366July 18, 2024, 12:01 pm

Story
Age: 4 months Size: 9.5 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull terrier/Whippet mix   “URGENT: Rescue needed by 4pm on 6/16.” As soon as we saw this headline in our email inbox, paired with Ophelia’s little face, we knew what we had to do. We drove straight to Baltimore to save this little lady’s life and boy, are we glad we did. Surrendered to the shelter paralyzed, Ophelia weighed a meager 5 lbs. She was emaciated, her spine and ribs protruding from her little body. She had no use of her hind legs, and in her weakened state, she’s wasn’t able to scoot around at all on her own and struggled to balance in the sitting position. Despite all of this, she remained the sweetest puppy who just wanted to sit on a lap and quietly observe what’s going on around her. Ophelia saw our primary care vet, who referred us to a neurologist specialist in Maryland. After having a CT scan done, Ophelia was diagnosed with a suspected osteochondroma, a non-cancerous bone tumor on her spine. This bony growth on her T6 vertebrae is compressing her spinal cord, causing her hind leg paralysis. The good news - with surgery to remove the growth and intensive physical therapy to rebuild her leg muscles, we’re hopeful Ophelia can regain some mobility! Surgery is also imperative to ensure the osteochondroma does not continue to grow and cause her condition to worsen, i.e. making her incontinent or more immobile. While we fundraise for the surgery (estimated to cost $11,000) and allow Ophelia time to regain weight and strength, she’ll get started with physical therapy to help increase her chances of walking again once the surgery is complete! It’s incredibly easy to fall in love with Ophelia. This girl is a fighter who refused to lay down and die despite the despicable conditions she was surrendered to the shelter in. She’s full of spunk and has no problem letting foster mom know when it’s mealtime! She’s able to walk with the support of a sling around her waist, and will even try to run to keep up with her doggie foster brothers and sisters. She has control over her bladder and bowels and will let you know she she needs to go outside to go potty, making her essentially potty trained. She sleeps through the night in a playpen and spends the day alternating between napping on the couch and hanging out in the yard. Ophelia will not be ready to join a forever family until after we address her surgical needs, but we can accept applications now for invested adopters with a soft spot for special needs dogs and who can commit to Ophelia’s follow-up care. To adopt Ophelia, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age/breed of any of our dogs. Story
Beautiful, Inside and Out! That’s me, I’ve been named appropriately, “Bella”. If I do say so myself, I am “Beautiful” as my name means in 8 different languages. As a 5 year old Lab/pit bull terrier mix weighing approx. 60#, I have what it take to be a great companion. The young “Chippies” have nothing over me. I’ve learned from the best and eager to please. Crate trained, house trained and leash trained, there is a lot that can be said for a “Mature” girl with a HUGE HEART for her people. “What else can we do together to pass the time and bond?”, you ask. Well, let me tell you. This time of year SWIMMING is my #1 love next to my person. Then there is Playing Fetch. Finally, Playing Fetch that includes, you guessed it, SWIMMING!!!!! As the weather cools, I also love the “GFAW” words.. what’s that?? “Go For A Walk”. Then there is the “GFAR”. Have you guessed what that means? “Go For A Ride”, could split a "Pup-a-Chino"! Ok, I think you are getting the handle of my personality. Then the finale test is “TANWMP”. What? YIKES! Do I have you stumped???? “Take A Nap With My Person”! Ha, Ha, Ha!!!! Life is Good! I do have a down side I must admit. My past was not always kind. Although I have been around other dogs, I sometimes am unpredictable due to my unknown history. So, I need to be a single dog to love and cherish my owners by myself and a fenced yard to ensure no mishaps occur with other dogs. I can walk past other dogs and remain VERY WELL BEHAVED, but for some reason, I just don’t tolerate living or spending time with other dogs. I ENJOY “MY PEOPLE” and “WANT THEM ALL TO MYSELF”! Guess that makes me a “People Pleaser”!!! So there you have it.. I didn’t hold back my true self, hide my flaws or pull any paw punches. I am “Bella”, a simple gal that is a LMP - “Love My People” ATMS - “All To My Self” kind of Gal!  Bella has been spayed and is ready for a home of her own. The adoption fee is $275  To submit an adoption application, visit mollysplacerescue.org. Fill the form out completely, print, scan and email back to mollysplace@verizon.net. Story
Hi, I’m Rocco! I ended up in a shelter down in Atlanta, GA as an owner surrender and sadly my time there was up but luckily for me CRCPA came to my rescue! I’m a handsome, enthusiastic young (about 2) boy still learning my manners. I do know the “sit” and “down” cues already and I can’t wait to keep learning! I love giving kisses and being close to my humans. Playing with tug toys is a close second though! I am still learning how to play fetch. The volunteers here all get a good laugh at my squeaky bark, it’s all part of the Rocco charm! Because I really don’t know my size or my strength I would do best in a home with older children. I would need an active family, willing to continue working with me to become the best Rocco I can be! While I’m waiting for my forever family to find me, I’m going to work on staying calm during car rides and while out on walks. Car rides make me so excited! When I was in GA I was tested with an older dog and the volunteers there told CRCPA that I did well with her. I’m not sure how I would do with cats. If you are interested in welcoming this enthusiastic fella into your home, please visit our website, www.crcpa.org, and complete an application! Local families only please.

Story
**Meet Spirit!** Spirit is a 1-year-old boxer mix with the most gorgeous blue eyes and a smile that will melt your heart. This sweet boy is very well-behaved and has quickly earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because he loves to stick close to his people. He’s pretty good on a leash and enjoys car rides, although he’s still a bit tentative and needs some encouragement to get in. Spirit is also working on his crate training; while he’s hesitant to enter, he does well once inside and doesn’t have accidents. Spirit is fantastic with children and gets along wonderfully with the 7-year-old in his current foster home. He’s still learning how to play with toys and prefers soft treats over hard ones. If you’d like to be the family that shows Spirit, what love is all about. Spirit is sure to become a loyal and loving companion. Are you ready to give Spirit the forever home he deserves?
