Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application    HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see    HERE Age: 3-4 years (as of 12/12/23) Weight: 60 lbs (as of 1/1/24)    This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Ghost is a  friendly, energetic, good-natured boy, looking for a family to call his own after having a rough start.  He is gregarious with all  humans and loves attention from humans.  He is nosy and curious, and likes to sniff, run and play when outside.  He has many doggy friends of different sizes and types, and does best with those who enjoy chase, wrestling, bitey-face and boxing styles of play.     Ghost has the typical "young bully breed" personality, full of zest and exuberance, and may be too much for frail adults or very young children. Ghost is quiet and clean in his  wire crate and has never had an accident inside the house.  He may need some guidance when it comes to house manners as he has had limited free-range experience in a home, but he is very eager to please and is a smart boy.  B asic group training classes will be fabulous for  him to learn new commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Ghost is looking for a cat- and small animal-free home, as he becomes fixated on them and tracks them intensely. Ghost is a playful and happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Ghost's Back Story:   Ghost was found as an emaciated stray and taken in by a kind-hearted person whose house burned down. Thankfully, this all-white cutie survived and found his way into a new, stable foster home.  He has lived with adults, children, and other dogs and gets along with everyone.  Medical No te:  This dog has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future.  Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  This dog’s treatment has been completed and the dog has tested negative for microfilaria; the has been cleared to resume normal activity and is ready to be placed into an adoptive home.  This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease  before or during treatment; future complications are not expected but are not impossible.  Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for this dog.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see    HERE    for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  www.sosarl.org/aa/ * *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. April 24, 2024, 7:15 pm

Story
Ladybird is a 6 year old pittie mix who has been steadily gaining weight since she entered the shelter. Coming in at 36 lbs, we've already gotten her up to 44 lbs after about a week of being here. We've got her on a special diet to ensure she's consistently gaining weight until she's met the breed standard. Ladybird is a shining example of the incredible perseverence dogs have and how they can adapt to situations even better than us sometimes! We're unsure of her background and how she came to be as emaciated as she was, but she doesn't let it bother her in the slightest. She's sweet, sociable, and has no problem meeting strangers. A good butt rub will have her eyes lighting up and her silly button turned on! She's not all party, though, this girl also has a side that's all business! She knows he commands like none other, hitting sit, down, stay, and come like a professional. She's eager to please and really just wants someone to call her own.Per typical bully breed rules, you must own your own home, children must be over twelve, no cats, and any other dogs in the home must be the opposite sex. She's proven to do well with other dogs so far and is respectful about their boundaries! She'll come spayed, microchipped, with her Rabies and distemper vaccines, a heartworm test, and her heartworm preventitive/flea meds for the month. If you're interested, fill out an application on ForeverPaws.com under our adopt tab before coming in. If you already have an approved application, call and set up an appointment to meet Ladybird today!

Story
At the time of writing this, Hondo, is a 2 year old pure bred red nose American pitbull terrier. I purchased him from a highly regarded breeder in Massachusetts when he was 7 weeks old. Hondo is the quintessential example of why pitbulls are not to be feared. He is nothing if not playful, a cuddle bug and a great companion for quiet times at home. He loves having company and hates being alone, I am eagerly searching for a true all around dog lover but more so a pitbull lover. This owner should specifically want Hondo as a companion and family member. This owner should be excited to take on an easy going dog (although he does get extremely excited about playing outside in a park and new company showing up to the home) but also understand Hondo is trained with just basics for a dog and is rough around the edges. But he's 100% a good boy! Whole hearted and serious inquiries only.

Story
This brindle bully is Bella. She is one of a few dogs that has resided with one of our southern trainers for quite some time. Despite having some issues that make her a bit less adoptable, this pup still deserves a home where she is loved and her needs can be met. And having a trainer as a foster mom is a huge plus!!!Bella is very sweet, but also can be a bit sassy and bossy. Despite that, she has been been tugging at her fosters heart strings for a very long time. She would have definitely been a foster fail if she was not living in an environment with new dogs coming and going almost everyday.Bella is the perfect 50 pound lap dog. She does not understand the concept of personal space and will try to get in your lap at all costs, especially if you are her level.Even though, she has played well with carefully selected dogs, she will not roll over if that dog is overbearing or tries to correct her, Therefore, being an only dog would be ideal. She is not the girl who can go to a doggie daycare either so she would require a home that will exercise her and a fenced yard where she could run would be a bonus. At her age, she'd probably prefer being the only diva in the house. She's done fine with people and older children, so long as they're willing to give her some butt scratches. No cats or young kids.Bella is very obedient, very affectionate and routine oriented. She also crates fine. She does have a habit of jumping up and nose-butting your chin if she thinks her petting session is done (I want more loving please!). She has learned not to do that with foster mom, but will test the waters with new people.Name: BellaBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 7 years 7 months  (estimated as of 1/15/24)Weight: 50.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: NoGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
