Story
He was rescued at 1 year old from a nonviolent elderly gentleman unable to care for him. He’s currently 5 years old and still has springs in his feet. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and he’s a love bug at heart who is willing to be a lap dog if allowed. Loves food, loves car rides, hiking, boat rides, and running on the beach. He can swim but gets nervous in the water. He isn’t aggressive with other dogs, but sometimes gets overly excited and he doesn’t know when to stop playing. He has successfully cohabitated with cats. Needs daily walks/exercise to manage energy. Does extremely well with a remote collar. He will kiss all of your guests to death if allowed. Perfect for a home with school age or older children or an active retiree. Needs consistent activity and love. He is chipped and has never missed a vet appointment or shot.

Story
Meet Lucinda (Lucy)!Lucy’s journey hasn’t been easy, but her resilience and loving heart shine through. She wandered up to a kind stranger, frightened and injured, with wounds on her face and leg. Thanks to medical care and the patience of her foster family, Lucy has healed beautifully—both inside and out—and is now ready to find a forever home of her own.Lucy is a gentle soul with a tender heart. She may start out a little shy, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into the ultimate “velcro dog.” Her favorite place to be is right by her person’s side—whether it’s snuggling on the couch, showering you with kisses, or just keeping you company throughout the day.Lucy does beautifully with other dogs but would also be perfectly content as the star of the show in a home where she’s the only pup. She’s crate trained (she’ll even go in on command!), housetrained, and walks nicely on leash—though she may pull a little when her excitement takes over. Lucy also rides like a pro in the car and loves every trip.Because of her past, Lucy can sometimes feel a little anxious, especially in busy outdoor settings with multiple dogs, and she may be vocal at first when kenneled. Mealtime is another big highlight of her day—she gets very enthusiastic about her food! Feeding her in her kennel works best and keeps her happy and comfortable.Lucy has a low energy level and is happiest simply being near her humans. Her ideal home would be one where she can spend lots of time with her family and feel safe and loved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Lucy is ready to fill your life with love and cuddles.Name: LucindaBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 40lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Treatment completed 11/25/25Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: UnknownGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Buster! This sweet and handsome pup, with the biggest and most endearing ears you’ve ever seen, is ready to find his forever home. Buster’s story started out a little rough—he was found as a stray, thin and emaciated—but you’d never know it now. Thanks to the love and care of his foster family, he’s blossomed into a happy, healthy boy who is eager to share his gentle heart with everyone he meets.Buster is friendly with kids, loves other dogs, and enjoys spending time with people. He is the happiest dog, always wagging his tail!He is housetrained and does well with either a doggie door or a regular potty schedule. He is still learning to communicate when he needs to go out, so his future family should be prepared to continue helping him with this routine.Whether he’s romping around with his canine friends, soaking up the sunshine, or quietly resting nearby, he’s simply happy to be part of the family. His playful and affectionate personality shines through in everything he does including relaxing on a recliner with you (see pic)Despite his difficult start, Buster has so much love to give. so good natured and very cuddly. He’s the kind of dog who will quickly become your loyal companion through all of life’s adventures. Buster is waiting patiently for the right family to give him the forever home he so deserves—could that be you?Name: BusterBreed: Pittie MixSex: MaleAge: 1 year  (estimated)Weight: 35 lbs as of 9/29Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm:  Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:   MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England. Story
Hershey is a wonderful boy! Sweet, shy, curious and playful Hershey is one of a kind. Hershey is a shy dog with a gentle soul who is worth getting to know. He will capture your heart in a second with his soulful eyes. The way to this boy's heart is patience, understanding, some yummy treats and toys.Having a reserved disposition, this sweet boy is looking for a quiet home without young children. This boy thrives in a calm environment where his people understand his need to adjust at his own pace. His adopters will need patience and understanding that Hershey will blossom with this patience. He will pay you back for your patience with his little nudges of confidence. He will follow you around and supervise your daily routine.Hershey has been working on basic commands, leash walking, and learning to trust humans. Hershey also enjoys sunbathing and MUST HAVE a secure fence in yard to ensure his safety and provide him a space to explore confidently. While he takes time to warm up to new faces, his sweet and gentle nature shines through once he feels safe. He lights up around other dogs, so having a gentle furry sibling or two to learn from would be ideal. His foster family has done an amazing job helping him come out of his shell, and he's now ready for the next chapter of his journey. Story
Meet Basil!Sweet baby Basil is just a pup at only ten months old. She's a sensitive gal which is understandable because coming to the shelter from a home can be a big, confusing transition and it can be overwhelming. Basil is a boxer/American bulldog mix and weighs about 60lbs.While it takes a minute or two to win her over, she immediately becomes a big goofy blockhead with all of the zoomies! She's genuinely just a big baby that needs all of the coddling, all of the reassurance, and all of the snuggles. She's a bouncy bean that is a big hammy ham for attention. She loves her walkies and loves rope/tug toys but can and will turn the rope toy into a dangerous weapon when she starts swinging it around like a medieval mace. She'll take you at the knees/ankles if you're not careful. Anyone remember the Skip-It and how it would smash your ankle bones? Yeah, like that.Basil is fantastic with other dogs and lights up like a Christmas tree when she sees them, especially big goofy male dogs. (She seems to have a type.) She's all play bows and zoomies trying to get them to chase her. She's afraid of cats because big dogs afraid of cats seems to be trending here lately. We are looking for an adult-only home (or teenagers and adults). Since she's a "restricted breed", you must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
