Story
Meet Maya, a ten year old Pit/Shepherd mix weighing 59 pounds (although she should weigh less as she is on the chunky side).A Golden Girl with a Heart of Gold. Maya is a sweet senior lady with soulful eyes and a heart full of love to give. Recently surrendered to animal control, she came to us in rough shape with painful ear infections, but with treatment and TLC, she’s feeling so much better and ready to find her forever family. This chunky, medium-sized sweetheart is the perfect walking buddy—she strolls beautifully on a leash and adores every bit of attention she gets. Maya is treat-motivated (and will gently remind you if you forget!) and thrives on companionship and comfort. She’s looking for a calm, cozy retirement home where she can live out her golden years surrounded by love, belly rubs, and maybe a few extra snacks. If you have a soft spot for seniors and a quiet space in your heart and home, Maya is ready to fill it.Did you know YHS offers a `Foster to Adopt` program? It`s a fun way to make sure you and your potential new pet are the perfect match-like a sleepover, but with extra cuddles! Story
Meet Lokie, a one year old American Pitbull Terrier/Bull Terrier mix weighing 40 pounds.Lokie is a bundle of fun wrapped in a confident, goofy, and loveable pup! This guy loves people and loves attention. He is very enthusiastic about everything he does and loves to go on walks. He is treat motivated and knows the commands `sit` and `down`. Lokie is a bit too interested in the kitties so we are recommending a home without feline companions. However, he loves to play with other dogs and we think he could do great in a home with another dog or be adopted out to a home where he is the only pup. This guy has a confident and outgoing personality that will do great in almost any home. He loves to play with toys and chewing on sticks. He has gone on a hike and is did very well, even when other dogs passed by on the trail. We can`t believe this fun, happy boy hasn`t been scooped up yet. Meet Sugar, a three and a half month old Pit/Lab mix weighing almost 30 pounds.Sugar is a sweet and spunky pup with a heart as big as her paws! She and her sister Spice were found chained up at a homeless encampment without food or water, but you’d never guess it from her joyful spirit and endless tail wags. This big puppy is a total wiggle worm who’s always ready to play, explore, and make new friends. Sugar is incredibly friendly and outgoing—she wants to say hi to everyone she meets! She’s still growing into her paws and her personality, but she’s already bursting with love and potential. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate puppy to share your adventures (and your couch), Sugar is ready to bring the sweetness into your life!
