Story
ABOUT PEPPER Add a little spice to your life, meet Pepper! This beautiful baby is a 5-year-old deaf pittie. Pepper originally came to HAP a few years ago as a puppy named Glimmer. She was swiftly adopted and enjoyed the last 4 years in a home. When her family welcomed a newborn baby, Pepper adjusted well at first; However, it was too much chaos for the family trying to take care of a new baby and a dog at the same time, so they made the difficult decision to surrender her in hopes she will find a home better suited for her. In her previous home, Pepper was leash-trained, house-trained, and crate-trained, but sometimes being in the stressful shelter environment can cause dogs to unlearn certain behaviors, so it might take her a while to get back on track! Pepper is a higher-energy gal who loves to sniff, explore, and stay busy. Even though she can’t hear them, Pepper absolutely loves squeaky toys and will happily toss them around to entertain herself! **Like many deaf dogs, Pepper can startle easily if she’s asleep or doesn’t see you approaching, so a family who understands this and is willing to take their time allowing her to grow comfortable and adjust would be ideal! Since pepper lived with kids, and has met many children at the shelter, she is open to living with kids again! She does have some doggy friends here, but since Pepper is deaf it can be hard for her to know when other dogs have had enough of her shenanigans until they correct her, which she listens to beautifully! Pepper recently participated in our Doggy Day out program and here's what they had to say about her: "Today I got to take perfect Pepper out! Despite being five and a half and deaf, this girl was ready to go, go, go! She was quick to greet me when the staff first brought her out and we made quick friends. Pepper tried to hop up into my jeep but it was a bit too high so she needed a 'booty boost', which she was perfectly tolerant of! We did almost five miles around a wooded trail and she had her nose to the ground getting all the sniffs! While she did pull occasionally, I was impressed she was constantly checking back with me. Of course, we had to finish the day off with the all important pup cup. Pepper was an awesome dog with a fantastic, fun-loving personality and anybody would be lucky to have her!" If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Kush is a fun loving energetic dog! He is a lover and loves cuddles and kisses. He gets along with other dogs but being young he still doesn’t understand boundaries or other dogs ques. Kush knows his commands but is stubborn. He is house and crate trained but the crate is not his favorite place for long periods of time (loves a peanut butter filled Kong ). He also can walk on a leash but needs consistent walks to reinforce his training of heel. Kush is used to a fenced in yard and loves to sprint around the yard with his toys! Kush would be best a home where he doesn’t have to be crated for long periods. Unfortunately our lifestyle does not allow us to give kush the attention and time he needs. We have put alot of time and love into raising Kush and this decision has been a difficult one. But ultimately we want Kush to be able to live his best life!

Story
Meet Ellie !! Ellie is the sweetest girl! She is approx 3 - 4 years young. Ellie was rescued as a critically ill pregnant momma dog. We were able to save Ellie but unfortunately none of her puppies survived. Ellie adores people, children, and tortoises too! Ellie loves her pup cups when she’s out and about in the car! Ellie is house and crate trained and loves going for walks and car rides!! Ellie can be selective about which dogs she would like to have as friends, . therefore she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Ellie absolutely deserves to be someone’s princess and receive all of their love and attention. To meet Ellie please apply on www.StrayNetwork.org

Story
Meet ROCKY! Rocky is a handsome Elderbull (9 yrs) who wants a human pal that he can worship and share adventures will. Rocky suffers from dry eye that went untreated and he has lived with painful eyes for some time now (one of the worst cases we have ever seen!). He is currently getting 3 types of eye drops several times a day to give him some relief and help his eyes produce lubricating tears again. Rocky is a champ with his eye drops because he knows they are helping him! Rocky also has a cherry eye (exposed tear duct) which may need surgery to correct. Right now he is enjoying the relief from constant eye pain &#239&#191&#188- it's almost like he has found the fountain of youth! Rocky will be neutered later this month (pre-surgical bloodwork looks great!) and will be available for adoption soon after. His eye care will be lifelong but we hope to be able to reduce the number of drops and frequency (under vet supervision) in time. Rocky has been vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and micro chipped. Rocky is a great traveler! He enjoys wilderness walks but mostly wants to be with his person. Rocky would like to be your one-and-only pup so he can soak up all the love! Looking for a sweet Elderbull? Apply at www.CompAnimals.org &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Adoption $200. March 7, 2026, 5:36 pm
