Gerry is a short, thick little dude who snorts like a pig and moves faster than you'd think possible with such short legs. He loves for his humans to sit on the ground so he can wallow all over them and kiss them in the face. He was difficult to photograph because he didn't want to get out of our laps! Very affectionate and goofy.    To foster or adopt Gerry, please apply at www.buttsmutts.com.  ##1803908##

Story
Hello, I bought him when he was a little puppy at a gas station back in 2016. He is currently 6 years old. I'm looking for a caring, loving pet owner who can provide him with a better home and better support as I'm currently experiencing financial instability. He loves children, gets along best with other dogs (if applicable). He's loving, loves attention, playful, and is a big baby. Loves being spoiled, etc.

Joy gets along with cats and dogs and all people but she needs a minute to get to know you, then she's your best friend.  So with a bit of training she should become more secure with meeting strangers.  Age: 2 years  Weight: 60 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spay is scheduled and heartworm negative  Temperament: Good with other dogs and cats, but can be leash reactive when on walks.   For questions, please email andrea@w-underdogs.org   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. November 27, 2023, 12:59 pm

Story
This is Toad, aka Feldspar! I believe him to be about a 2y/o staffy mix and those EARS!. He is an upbeat, high-energy dog that would be a great hiking or running buddy and would excel at agility training or something along those lines. Because of his high energy. He is great with other dogs that can keep up with his playful energy but could possibly be overwhelming for a lower activity/old dog. He LOVES toys, big, small, soft, hard, he loves them all! When the dog door is open, he is 100% potty trained. If no outside access, I’d say he’s about 90% potty trained (he’s a big water drinker). He is crate trained but definitely has some work to do as far as staying calm in the crate when he sees other dogs. (He get so excited that he jumps and whips around in the crate) He is very food motivated and responds quickly to training. Age: 2 years  Weight: 60 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative  Temperament: Good with older respectful kids and other dogs.  Training: Most likely house-trained, is neat in her kennel.   For questions, please email aimiablepetcare@aol.com   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Story
Millie is around 2 years old and she is 55 pounds. She has never ONCE had an accident in the house. She is actually pretty good in the car, but loves to have her head out the window… (as do most dogs). We went on about an hour and a half day trip the other day and she did really well with a bone to distract her. My vet also told me that we could attempt to give her Benadryl if we go on a longer car ride just to settle her down. As you already might know, rescues often need some additional training because they have not been given the attention they need growing up… she has never really counter surfed or chewed anything up but we occasionally see her put her two paws up to smell something I might be cooking. With that said, I will say “No!” And she immediately knows to get down. She is completely fine with noise and big crowds, but sometimes will bark if she sees someone at our door or hears a loud noise at night (when she knows it should be quiet outside). One important thing to note about her: she absolutely needs exercise. She is a dog that without it, will combust with energy. I go to the Piedmont Park dog park every morning and take her on a pretty long walk in the afternoons… Millie went to someone’s house before and they were expecting a couch dog, so I like to be open and honest about that upfront. I will tell you the hardest thing with Millie is her leash training… we have gotten her an easy walker and it has worked WONDERS, but she has an incredibly strong pull when she sees a squirrel (small prey drive). We have worked a lot with her on that and when I see a squirrel, I just pull a little tighter and say “no” before she even has the chance to pull. All in all, Millie truly just wants to be loved! She has the sweetest / cuddliest heart of all time and deserves a good home. I know this was a long message, but I just want to make sure she gets put in the right hands and doesn’t have to go back to a shelter because she is not what people wanted / expected! Age: 2 years old approx  Weight: approx 55 lbs  Temperament: Gets along with adults, kids, dogs  Training: house trained.  Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative  For questions about Millie, please email.  kellyh.harrison@gmail.com   &#226&#128&#139To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. Story
Spock is a very low-key dog who loves everyone he meets and just wants to hang out with his people. He has excellent manners and a sweet disposition. He gets along with other dogs but would also be fine as an only pet. He does not play with toys much but is highly treat/food-motivated, and he loves going for walks (although he does get tired after a couple of miles, so he would not be good for more intense hikes/long walks). Spock is a velcro dog but does not show any signs of separation anxiety. He can occasionally get a bit possessive if cuddling with us and another dog tries to encroach on that space, which presents as a warning growl but nothing more (he is responsive to verbal correction). Spock knows sit, stay, and come. he is very smart and treat-motivated so I am sure he could learn other tricks/commands very readily. Age: Approx 7 years  Weight: 70 lbs  Temperament: Good with dogs and older respectful kids  Vetting: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative    Training: House trained, crate trained  For questions, please email ali.mentana@gmail.com     To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Story
This ADORABLE, squishy-faced boy is Tank, and those soulful eyes are no facade - he's been through quite a lot for such a young dog. He entered animal control with heartworm disease after being left outside on a chain for the majority of his short life, and had to go through the painful treatment all alone in the shelter. Despite this, Tank is the sweetest, most gentlest of gentleman. He loves snuggling, being outside (though not for too long!), and chewing on his most favorite toys. At the end of the day, all he truly needs to be happy is to be with a family who loves him. Age: 2 yrs  Weight: 65 lbs Training: Housetrained and crate-trained, knows a few commands.  Temperament:  Good with dogs and kids.  Vetting: Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm treatment completed and on prevention. Story
This stunning, one year old Boxer mix was recently surrendered when his owner fell on hard times. Both the owner and Chaos were heartbroken, but Chaos is settling in now and adapting to the shelter routine. He enjoys playing with his humans and spending time in the yard with his playmate Aphrodite who was surrendered with him. We know he likes female dogs but are uncertain about his reaction to male dogs yet. Chaos loves snacks and is happy to strike a sophisticated pose to get his reward.   To give Chaos back the loving family life he had planned for himself, please apply at www.buttsmutts.com.  ##1867586##

Story
When this boy arrived, he was emaciated and severely neglected. All he needed was a "Chance". Chance was showered with TLC and is now thriving, has gained 20 lbs and is so handsome!  He is very affectionate with his humans but does not like sharing their attention with other dogs.  Being an only dog seems to be his preference.    Chance needs a loving home where he continues to receive the care and affection he deserves. If you are interested in fostering or adopting him, please apply for CHANCE at buttsmutts.com.  ##1818297##
