Story
Please contact Meghan (Megk.moore91@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. This is Toad, aka Feldspar! He is a sweet, cuddly lovebug looking for his furever home. We believe Feldspar/Toad to be no more than two years old. He is super playful and high energy. He can run 3 miles in 21 minutes! He gets along great with other dogs, especially those who have high energy like him and like to wrestle and play rough.   He can sit, lay down and high-five (his personal favorite). He can also “sit and wait” for his meals or to be let out of his crate. Toad is SUPER food motivated and eager to please, so he is very trainable. As food motivated as he is, he has zero resource guarding. He doesn't even resource guard his toys and those are his second favorite thing in life right behind cuddles.   We believe he would do best in a child free home, because he is younger and high energy, or a home with older kids who are good with dogs.   He has not been tested with cats, but he does have a high prey drive so cat free would be best. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out! Age: 2 years  Weight: 60 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative  Temperament: Good with older respectful kids and other dogs.  Training: Most likely house-trained, is neat in her kennel.   For questions, please email aimiablepetcare@aol.com   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. July 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Story
Great, easy going couch/TV buddy Dobbins is a low-energy couch potato and would be perfect for a single person or a couple who is low-key (I’m thinking recently retired and not too active). He loves to cuddle and loves affection. He is strong on-leash and is learning not to pull, so someone who has had a pittie or large dog before would be ideal. He will cry a little when you leave, but is completely house trained and non-destructive. I’ve had to go into the office for work and he has been wonderful at home, alone. Dobbins is a smarty pants! He is very treat motivated and loves praise and people. He knows: sit, paw, down, stay and touch. He will nudge your hands and arms if you stop petting him to remind you he would like pets, please. Dobbins had not great experiences with other dogs in the past and will need to be an only pet, but he loves so much and so hard, you won’t need another. He is a bit of a klutz, so kids 14 and up would be ideal. Video, loose leash training:  https://youtu.be/rY4o2iKL1-w Age: 4 years      Weight: 59 lb    Temperament: Good with older sturdy kids because of his size, prefers to be only pet.  Training: House trained, knows commands sit, down, stay, touch and paw   Vetting: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative    For questions, please email:   http://allikay4@gmail.com  &#226&#128&#139  To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.    July 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Story
Jojo is a cuddle bug who loves her humans. She loves playing with other dogs at day care. She's super smart and learns new commands really fast. She has a lot of energy and needs a good long walk or a play in the yard regularly. Jojo would be best as an only dog in her home but she enjoys other dogs at day camp. An experienced owner might be able to properly integrate her with another young bully. Jojo knows sit, down and wait. She's working on place. She walks well on the leash but has leash reactivity with some dogs. If she's told "wait" she waits patiently before going out of the door. Jojo is GREAT in the car and doesn't have any fear of storms or fireworks. We're working on muzzle training now and Jojo is doing really well.  Age: 1.5 years  Weight: 40 lbs Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative. Temperament: good with older sturdy kids, prefers to be the only pet in the home, fine with dogs outside home . Training: House-trained, crate-trained but not a fan.  For questions about Jojo, please email sumarieforrester@gmail.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Story
Rizzo is a high energy and playful pup.  He’s a ball of energy that loves his people. He’s very smart and obedient. He was rescued from a chained situation where he broke free and was found running in traffic in Tucker. He does have a scar on his neck, most likely from being chained. He was taken to the shelter where he developed pneumonia.  A foster brought him home to in November to help him recover. The vet gave him a 50/50 chance of survival. He's a fighter and he did survive.  Now he deserves a wonderful home.  He is 100% American Staffordshire Terrier but he is small like a pocket pittie. Rizzo can be playful and mouthy like a puppy. He needs a patient owner willing to work with his puppy behaviors and continue training.  He also has a medical condition known as a collapsing trachea.  For this reason, Rizzo can't take long walks on a leash even with a harness.  He's nervous around new people but only in the home. He can be protective of his people in the house but is great outside of the home meeting new people. He loves to play in the yard. He loves having lots of toys to squeak and play with and he loves having unlimited supplies of cow ears and bully sticks. He has no resource guarding issues and he isn’t destructive in any way.  He is great with dogs and cats and would love to live with another dog with a similar play style. He does need a fenced yard to run around in so he can get his energy out.  He can’t be outside for long periods of time in the Summer due to his collapsed trachea. Housebroken, but he needs to go outside first thing in the morning before you even brush your teeth. Age: 2 years  Weight: 46 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines Temperament: good with bigger kids and other dogs.  Training: House trained and knows how to use pee pads.

Story
Hello, I bought him when he was a little puppy at a gas station back in 2016. He is currently 6 years old. I'm looking for a caring, loving pet owner who can provide him with a better home and better support as I'm currently experiencing financial instability. He loves children, gets along best with other dogs (if applicable). He's loving, loves attention, playful, and is a big baby. Loves being spoiled, etc.

Story
I adopted Sweet Pea from a rescue in 2015, she is a puppy mill survivor. She is currently about 12 years old and has a very calm, sweet demeanor. She can be playful and rambunctious when encouraged by her brother Tigger (Boston Terrier), and enjoys sleeping and snuggling with anything she can get her paws around. Although I'd very much like to keep Sweet Pea in my home, I'm unable to due to financial hardship. If possible, I'd like to make sure she stays with her brother Tigger, a 10 year Boston Terrier. I'm looking for a home that will give her (and hopefully her brother) an environment they'd thrive in. Both dogs have been very good with children in all their past-experiences. To describe their personality with children (and people in general), Sweet Pea takes a very curious, playful and motherly attitude and Tigger is very much the playful type.

Story
Hi there! I'm Lala, a 3-year-old Terrier/American Pit Bull mix, and I'm looking for my forever home! Let me tell you a little about myself.I'm a smart girl who loves the sniffs of the nature trail. Exploring the outdoors is one of my favorite things to do! I've already mastered some cool tricks like sit, lie down, find it, and leave it. Treats are my absolute favorite, and I'm very trainable with a little snack motivation.I'm still working on my leash training. I'm doing well, but sometimes I get so excited that I can't help but pull a bit. It's something I'm getting better at with practice. When it comes to other dogs and cats, I prefer to be the only furry friend in the house. I'd also do best in a home without young children. I can be a bit stoic when meeting new people, but I'm generally friendly and enjoy pets and scratches from strangers once I warm up to them.My energy level is moderate. I can get the zoomies and would love a yard to run around in or an active family who will take me out for walks, hikes, and other fun outdoor activities. But don't worry, I also have a cuddly side and would love to hop into your lap and just relax with you.I'm full of love and affection, and I adore plushie toys. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's both active and affectionate, I might just be the perfect match for you.PSI qualify for Foster First, which means you can foster me for 14 days prior to adoption to ensure I'm the perfect fit for your family!

Hi, I'm Norma!I'm a little nervous here in the shelter and I could really use your help. I am very sweet, but it may take a little time for me to come out of my shell. Once you meet me, you'll realize that I am just a big lovebug. The volunteers and staff are working with me to help me feel more comfortable and to gain some confidence. I don't have any known history with other dogs, cats or children, so if you have a dog(s) and/or children, I would love to meet them. What I need now is someone to cuddle with and call my own. Please come meet me soon. Love, NormaP. S. I qualify for Foster First which means you may foster me for 14 days before adopting me to make sure I am a perfect match for your family.

Story
Chico (aka Chi Chi) has a zest for life and is always ready to play! He's on the lookout for a forever home that can match his turbocharged vibes. Ideally, his new owner would be just as lively and ready for walks or fun park hangouts as he is. This clever pup is quick on the uptake, responding to his name and a whole bunch of cool commands like sit, lay down, come, and leave it. While he might start off a bit bashful, once he warms up, he's a social butterfly, eager to make friends and have a blast. And don't worry, even in his shy moments, Chico's all about love and play, no hint of aggression in sight! Age: 2-3 years   Weight: 55 lbs  Vetting: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative.  Temperament:  Good with dogs and probably older sturdy kids because of his energy level. Story
If you are looking for a snuggly girl who loves to give kisses, look no further than Musu! This 7-years old, 70-pound brindle-patched beauty has a soft coat and is very dog friendly! In the shelter she excelled in playgroups and she gets along famously with both of her foster brothers. She loves to lay with them when she isn't laying next to you. You will be wildly entertained with her crazy sleep positions. Musu is low-to-medium energy. After some play time outside where she can prance around and get in some good back scratches, she just wants to be with you. She can pull on leash, but it is manageable, and does not chase after squirrels or birds. She can get overstimulated when on leash but will sit when told to sit as a way to calm down. She has a few chew toys she likes, but overall does not care too much about toys. She would much rather have food! Her favorite part of the day is mealtime. Musu is housebroken and non-destructive. She will eventually settle down in a crate, but it is not her favorite. She prefers to be out and has free-roam in her foster house. Musu has been friendly and gentle with kids at events. However, she can jump when she gets overstimulated and would do best in a home without small children. You can see more pictures of Musu on Instagram @adopt_gargoyle_dcas Age: 7 years Weight: 72 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative Temperament: good with dogs, good with older kids (gentle with young kids but can jump up for attention).  Training, House trained, crate trained, knows commands  Sit and Wait.  Email for questions: sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Ado July 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Story
Meet Cooper, a young, exuberant dog, who is ever so sweet. He has two paw print markings on his side to show just how special he is. His tail wags the moment you talk to him. Cooper was found abandoned and skinny on the side of the road, with a scar on his neck from an embedded collar. While it appears, Cooper hasn't had the best life, you would never know it from his appreciative nature and friendly disposition. He is working on gaining weight. Despite his ravenous appetite, he'd rather stop mid bite to get pets and check in with his foster parents. It also seems that he has never had a bed before, but he's really enjoying sinking down in the comfort of a soft bed for a good snooze. He has done well with other resident dogs of all sizes, even a small reactive terrier. Cooper is learning to walk on a leash and to sit and wait (rather than jump) for attention. He’s been a quick learner! He's also been willing to sit calmly in the back seat during car rides. While he is still fairly new to his foster family, thus far he has proven to be non-destructive and able to be on his own, although he would much rather be right by your side.   Cooper loves people and is ready to follow you anywhere or run after a kicked soccer ball. Despite his past, he is still a happy boy exuding an infectious energy that brightens the day. He would make a delightful addition to any family.
