Do you want a Hippopotamus for Christmas? You are in luck! Introducing Coraline Henrietta House Hippo. This precious little girl is in search of her first and forever true friend & family. Coraline is a middle-aged, one-eyed, joyful soul who is eager to be with a family... whether that's one person or several, she is not picky. She does well with respectful, sturdy children. Coraline is very interested in meeting dogs, but we aren’t sure if she has had a lot of social experience. She did great with her test with other dogs--a male and a female. She appears to mirror energy, so she would do best with a confident, respectful dog and a slow introduction. Her background: This sweetheart came from a backyard breeder who kept her on a tie out and used her for a few years for an unknown number of litters. When she was no longer considered useful, she was dumped. Coraline then found herself with a 'family' who left her tied to a porch. Most recently, she was at a rural Kentucky shelter where she was having no luck at all. The volunteers there recognized what an absolute sweetheart she is, and got the attention of Common Ground Community Rescue Network who put the word out. She was running out of time at the shelter, so many people tried to find this poor girl a second chance. A foster stepped up, and so did GOTGM! Because of a wonderful volunteer who was willing to transport, Coraline traveled North to the care of Coyne Veterinary. Coraline had severe glaucoma in one eye, which must have been excruciating. She also was in need of a spay, a dental cleaning and removal of a mammary mass. Her journey in her foster home started on November 5, and surgical procedures were successfully completed on November 9. Coraline was a trooper in her recovery and healed very quickly! She is heartworm positive, so that will be her next step in her health journey. Coraline is an easy little dog to love. Quiet in a crate, housebroken, not a barker, has great eye contact, desire to please, appreciates mealtime and loves her snacks! No issues with personal space - her foster can put a harness or winter coat on her with no objections, and no issues around food either. Coraline loves to snuggle on a sofa or just hang out by your side doing anything at all. She waddles with happiness when she sees you ... or when she sees food! We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old.
