*This dog is a courtesy listing and NOT a Helping Paws dog. To get more information, please contact the owner at melissa.j.moreno@gmail.com* Hello and Thank You for your time. I am reaching out in hopes that your rescue can assist me to re-home one of my three dogs. Unfortunately, my husband and I have been experiencing interpack aggression between two of my three boys (Not littermates. All neutered) for over 4 years now; however, the confrontations are becoming more frequent and the triggers becoming smaller. I have come to the very difficult and heartbreaking decision that Kimber (the aggressor, in my opinion) would do best - even thrive! - as an only dog in a family home. Kimber is an American Staffordshire Terrier - a bully breed. He will be 10 years old in March and is in great health, apart from skin allergies (one 16mg Apoquel per day) and a slow thyroid (one .8mg dose of Soloxine, twice daily). He is about 80lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines. Although he is very muscular, he is not athletic and prefers to lounge around the house or the yard in a patch of sun after a very brief walk. He is extremely food motivated but does not really care for toys unless his human engages him, and even then, he will lose interest after a few minutes, and is not at all interested in entertaining himself with toys. When the issues began, we immediately sought the help of a professional trainer - and all was well for a couple of years. Until it wasn't. We did not anticipate and are wholly unprepared for the amount of consistent work, discipline, and structure that managing this behavior requires. Our family's lifestyle cannot reasonably sustain it, and as a result, everyone is suffering, myself in particular. I've never considered myself an overly anxious worrier, but I am a wreck all the time now and I know my dogs can feel it. I've considered euthanizing Kimber because I cannot bear the thought of him going to some unknown, unqualified family that won't treasure him and also it pains me to think that this is now our life. Constant kennel rotations to maintain safe distance between the two that are not getting along. Bickering among the humans about how to approach each scenario. Trips to the ER when a human gets in the middle of a confrontation - this has happened twice now. Luckily, no vet trips have been required; we've always been able to intervene fairly quick and their fixation level is not so intense that they cannot be separated, but still, the emotional toll is way high! When we decided on permanent separation, I reached out to our trainer (who is now a friend) for support and he advised me to reach out to as many reputable rescues as I could because, knowing Kimber and having spent a considerable amount of time training and boarding my Pack, he knows that Kimber is a very sweet, people-friendly dog, he is an excellent companion and his life (what remains of it, he is 10) matters. We know a good match is out there. My trainer genuinely cares about Kimber and has so generously offered to assist Kimber in his transition to his new home, if he possibly could. I am ready, willing, and fully capable of financially providing for Kimber for the rest of his life: grain-free diet, medications, wellness checks, etc. I am willing to pay for a fence/enclosure for Kimber at his new forever home.

Story
Athena is a 5year old American Staffordshire terrier. She's crate and leash trained. Knows sit, stay, high five, speak, heel. Loves walks, hunting squirrels, and running. Very good on long hikes. She's also a great snuggler. Has anxiety and is on Prozac. Would do best in a house without kids. The only reason we can't keep her is because the baby made her too anxious.

Story
Greetings everyone! My name is Leanna and I found myself as a stray after a short wanderlust phase. Life on the road was harsh, as I became quite skinny and badly sunburned on my nose. I found myself in a noisy shelter for 4 months--living in a crate in a hallway and eventually on the euthanasia list. Yikes! But, my story of neglect and trauma did not break my spirit! My foster mom tells me I have a heart of gold and will be a loyal partner for a lifetime! I am around 5 years old and 50 pounds. I like to play with non-pushy dogs, but I need a little warm-up to pups without boundaries. I am a shy girl who needs someone to understand that not everyone wants a stranger in their face because, quite frankly, it can be scary. I need time to make choices about how I want to introduce myself. Don’t most humans do this already?! I’d prefer no kids because they usually don’t have the attention span I need for them to read my energy. I’m a girl with big boundaries and I cannot be rushed to accept you. But, once I do I’ll gladly show you my belly or lay at the foot of your bed if you find this agreeable! Did you say sit or shake? Gladly!! Just give me a tasty treat as a reward-I even love dog-friendly fruits and veggies!! My foster mom says that spinach helps me zoom around the backyard and right over the 4 ft fence if she’s not watching…Is that bad?! I consider myself quite the athlete and love routine exercise because it makes me a happier pet baby! I’d love a patient and understanding dog parent to bring out the best version of myself. Don’t we all want this in life?!

Story
Hi! My name is Ellie. As you can see, I’m a bit of a low-rider…a house hippo, if you will. I’m a spayed female, about 5 years old and weigh about 75 lbs. I LOVE my ball, it’s my favorite toy! I also get REALLY excited when my foster Mom brings me my food…I have to maintain this hippo physique, you know! When I’m done with my ball, I’m perfectly happy to cuddle with you on the couch. I get along with some dogs, others not so much, so I’d definitely have to meet any dogs you already have. I don’t think I’ve met any cats, but I don’t think I’d be a fan. I also do well with older kids as commotion just isn’t my thing. I’m pretty set in my ways and really just like my people. I enjoy cuddling and lounging around the house. I'm great in my crate but could also be left out as I would probably just sleep while you’re away. I do also enjoy going for walks! I love being outside as long as you’re out there with me. If you enjoy binge watching Netflix and going for an evening walk, apply to meet me today!
