Chrissy made it out of BARC high kill animal shelter in Houston just in the nick of time. She is currently safe in sanctuary, but looking for a forever home. Chrissy was previously owned but left at the kill shelter by her former owner. She was confused and nearing her euthanasia date when she was saved at the last minute. Chrissy is a sweetheart of a dog and was a volunteer and staff favorite. She is great on the leash, very gentle, sweet as blackberry pie. She knows basic commands and is so eager to please. We've never met a dog so charming as Chrissy. She will make a wonderful companion for the right family. Please get in touch to meet our little Chrissy!

If you come to meet Baybee, this calm, gentle girl will slowly approach you with her wagging tail. That's because she loves people! She especially loves them if they give her belly rubs, scratches behind her ears and on her chest, and petting everywhere. With those, she's in heaven! Baybee is also an active girl. She loves running and going for walks. She also loves car rides, sticking her head out the window. Then at home, she loves treats, and when she gets bored, she just takes naps. She completely respects the home and never makes a mess. In foster, this sweet girl is working on her training. She can give her foster mom her paw and answer 'sit.' She's working on 'leave it,' 'down' and 'move back.' She's improving her leash walking, learning to do less pulling on her harness, and may be ready to go on adventures. Baybee does well when her foster is away from home, free-roaming the living room and going to sleep. She's also house-trained. Baybee will love a home with a pet parent who has time to give her attention - and petting. She has been very comfortable with her foster's 8-year-old niece, snuggling with her, so will do well with kids. She'll be happy with just a human companion. Come meet Baybee. Atticus is a very sweet, well-behaved gentle giant! He loves to cuddle with his fosters. Before moving to his foster home, he was in APA!'s shelter and was WONDERFUL with kiddos, soaking up all their love and kisses. He was also happy to relax on the couch with friends and a chew toy. He is a playful boy who wants to play with his fosters two dogs, but they are less playful so he's very respectful and stays out of their space. He's also very interested in dogs he sees on his walks but doesn't react aggressively. Atticus came to APA! for medical help with a broken paw that hadn't healed correctly. He still limps, but it doesn't seem to cause any pain and he is a good leisurely walker. He can run and does a nice jog on his walks. He is house-trained and does his business quickly outside. Sweet Otto is a VERY gentle boy who just wants your affection. He loves to cuddle his humans as much as possible. Seriously, as much as possible! He just loves people and will follow his human around all day begging for love. He gets along beautifully with his foster's 4 resident dogs and is so calm around them. He's also living with two cats, but they're mostly in another part of the house, so he doesn't interact with them much. He was excited to meet one, but not aggressive. He really enjoys exploring with his nose since he is partially blind. And he loves to play with chewable soft toys like rope or rubber bones that don't hurt his gums since he is missing several teeth. Otto is great on a leash and enjoys going on walks around the neighborhood. He is really easygoing and quiet. This sweet boy is still working on his house manners, crate training, and potty training. The great news is he is very food motivated, which helps tremendously with his learning! Otto's ideal home will include another chill dog companion and a person who isn't away for long hours since he does not appreciate being left alone. Having his resident dog big sister to hang out with helps calm him down when his foster mom is away!
