Story
Hope is ready for her forever family!  She has completed her heartworm treatment and will just need to be tested in 6 months to make shure they are all gone.  She is up to date on everything.  She is mostly housebroken.  some of the meds she has been on during her recovery have caused her to be a little unpredictable but she knows outside is for potty.  She ,ostly, relaxes in her bed but will occaisionally bark at a passer by or get a burst of zoomies in the yard. she is good with other dogs, kids & seniors.  Don't lnow about cats. Hope is  senior dog, 29lbs, perhaps 6-8 years old picked up, nearly starved to death, December 28, 2023 from Guadalupe County.  She was scheduled to be euthanized the following day.  She is heartworm positive.  She is not able to be vaccinated nor receive heartworm treatment untill she has put on some weight.  We cannot yet determine a breed because she is so emaciated.  She is not yet available for foster or adoption.  Her road to recovery will be a long one.   Despite all this, Hope is sweet, gentle and loving.  She is spayed.  She is learning how to play again and right now loves rolling in the soft grass.  She is so bony and her skin is so tight and thin, we must be careful that she doesnt accidently cut herself on a rock or stick.  She wears a sweater while outside to protect her.  you can donate to Hope's recovery through our website, trailsendtexas.org. or donate to our amazon wishlist https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2SGCWJHPW5ENL/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2 ##1907178##

I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basicsHSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Story
Meet Emmie! She is a sweet, fun-loving girl! She loves to play with toys & take long walks. She also has a quirky habit of hunting for things, sometimes staring at inanimate objects for minutes at a time. Life of the party, she is! She’s a gentle treat taker as you can see in her videos. She loves her toys and will play for hours with them. She really likes sticks and would love to find someone who can keep up with her, as she is the best stick catcher around. She has no fear and will climb up in people’s laps for love. If you are going to give her ear scratches, be prepared as you have earned a friend for life. Emmie seems to like other dogs and does best with slow introductions to new friends. Emmie isn’t a fan of cats, her ideal home would have none. Emmie is a big strong girl and has lots of energy so a household with children older than 12 is recommended since she likes to bounce around and tumble with her toys. Emmie isn’t sure she likes water, but as soon as you start to scratch her down for a bath with suds and water, she’s on board. She will decide she likes the massage. She likes feeling nice and cool and will be a sweet girl for the rest of her bath. She’s a smart gal and knows how to sit. She is potty trained and kennel trained. She would love a new family to show her how to be a dog and really enjoy life. We can’t wait to see Emmie grow in a home and find her place in your heart. Emmie is chipped, fully vetted, & spayed. She is heartworm negative & on monthly preventatives. She is being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX. She would love to meet you! To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Emmie, click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-56 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Max Cooper is a striking beautiful white boy. His big, beautiful eyes look at you like he knows you want to tell him a secret. The only thing is....Max Cooper can't hear. He's deaf but has figured out how to be a dog and get along with other pups too. He would love a human to help him along the way. Maybe you can help Max and teach him signs and commands with your hands, he's itching to learn. Max doesn't let being deaf slow him down, he's an energetic lovebug who is active & loves to take walks. He loves to be petted & interact with his family. His favorite thing is to play fetch! He gets along with dogs & is submissive to other dogs. You can see him playing gently with another small dog in many of his videos. He's just as sweet as can be and loves to play around with all dogs, including his favorite, puppies! We do recommend a home without young children due to his special needs. Max has not been cat tested, but we know he loves dogs! He is house trained, microchipped, fully vaccinated, & neutered. He is being fostered in Seguin, TX and is ready for his new home. Story
This adorable cuddle companion is in search of her forever home! She delights in leisurely strolls and cherishes moments spent with her humans. Upon meeting new faces, she promptly snuggles into their laps, seeking affectionate pets and gentle scratches. While she might not excel as a guard dog, beware, for she'll effortlessly steal your heart with her endearing puppy dog eyes. Ellie isn't too keen on toys; she much prefers belly rubs and affectionate booty scratches. Independent by nature, Ellie enjoys her own company. Outdoors, she explores with curiosity, sniffing around and trotting here and there. She's not overly active and finds contentment in a cozy couch, occasional pets, and brief walks. In essence, she's more of a "Netflix and chill" kind of gal. When it comes to other dogs, Ellie has her preferences, so a meet-and-greet with potential canine companions is recommended. She has experience with cats and gets along well with them. Additionally, she has been around children and relishes their company. Ellie is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and on preventatives. She's currently being fostered in Seguin, TX, awaiting her forever family. Story
This super friendly girl is in search of the perfect home! Leona has such interesting colors on her coat and everywhere she goes people comment on how beautiful she is. Leona is such a perfect little size. She will fit just right in your lap, even though she is a bit too big for it! She doesn't seem to care & will give little kisses to show you how much she loves you. She is a very affectionate dog who loves to play and loves her toys. She would love a family to cuddle on the couch with. Leona is dedicated to her people and would much perfer to have her family around than other dogs. She's interacted well with very easy going, and submissive dogs and played very well with them. We do see she's a bit more selective with more outgoing pups. We recommend a meet n greet with any resident dog. Better yet, she's your only pup and will reward you with unconditional love. Leona is a smart girl and easy at home, she sleeps in a kennel & is housebroken. She's been through heartworm treatment, is spayed, microchipped, fully vetted, & on preventatives. She is being fostered in Seguin, TX and is excited to meet you. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link.
