Story
Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m River, an Anatolian Shepherd x who is about a year old and 48 lbs. I lived with six other dogs before my human surrendered me and my fur siblings. My previous human was older, and he couldn’t afford to take care of all six of us. At the shelter, I made friends with a couple of people there. One very nice lady at the shelter told me I was one of her “personal favorites.” I guess it’s because I’m sweet and love to get my belly rubbed. At first, I’m a little shy around new people and dogs given all the changes I’ve been through. However, that doesn’t mean I have a mean bone in my body! Once I get to know you or a new dog, you’ll see my silly playful side! In fact, I made a really good friend at the shelter before coming to PAW. We loved playing in the yard. I hope my forever home will shower me with love and treats while being patient with me as I gain confidence. I also hope they will help me perfect my walk on the leash so I can strut my stuff with my new family. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore metropolitan area only. ##1836418##

This gentle giant is ready and waiting to find a forever home he can call his own. He is smart, loyal, and absolutely loves people. He would love to be the only pet at home and will need a strong owner who is familiar with the breed. He is a big guy, so he will need plenty of room to run and play. Unfortunately, he is not a fan of other dogs, but has plenty of love for his people. If you are ready for lots of love and bear hugs, Kodiak is the one for you!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well-socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.  Foster ProgramFoster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me! Make a tax-deductible donation today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
Mollie is working on crate and house training in her foster home down south. She likes to be the alpha dog if with other dogs, but would be fine as an only dog too. This girl isn't terribly high energy and will snuggle on the couch with you! She has spent most of her young life living outside, so will need a patient and experienced foster willing to work with her to become the best dog she can be inside!

Story
Hello Above are pictures of Ace. He’s a Belgian Malinois, full breed. Ace is 2 1/2 years old. His birthday is November 5, 2021. Ace is energetic but loving. He loves lots of attention, loves going on walks, and playing on an open space. Most importantly his handsome and intelligent. Unfortunately, Ace does not do well with car rides, baths, or other dogs at this time. He requires time and patience. I believe once he’s trained or in a home that can provide him with lots of comfort and affection, he’ll adjust accordingly. We are looking for a home where Ace is loved and cared for, like he is now. Unfortunately due to health reasons, Ace is a bit much for my parents. They are sad to see him go but understands that this is best for them and Ace. This is why it’s so important for us to see him go to a caring, loving, and supportive family. Ace is incredibly special. He will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Story
Hi, I'm Bandit! I'm a two year old Great Dane mix that loves to play! My favorite things are split elk horns, springy pine tree branches, running and cuddling. My owner says that I have a pushy personality but I'm not sure what that means. My favorite days of the week are the two days we go hiking at and the one day I get to go to daycare and play with my friends. I want my owner to play with me more but they're so busy. I asked for another pup at home to play with but we don't have room. I love my family but I want more space to play and another pup to play with. Would I be a good fit for your home?
