Story
This 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd is Evander! He came into the shelter after we got a call that he was tied up in the back of an old veterinary hospital. Evander’s got energy for days and loves to play with ropes and squeaky toys. He’s still warming up to some men and might give a quick bark, but with a little patience and treats, he’s all about that sweet, goofy side. Strong, playful, and loyal, Evander is looking for a home with teens 17+ who are ready for a smart, fun-loving buddy who’s got plenty of love and laughs to share. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #adoptionistheoption #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt #longislanddogs #longislanddogparents #adotions #dog #doggo #dogsofnewyork #newyorkcitydogs #NYCdogs #anatolianshepherdrescue #rescuedog #nyadoptable #longislandanimalshelter #animalshelter #shelterdogs #shelterdog #shelterdogsrock #rescuedogsarethebest#anatolianshepherd

Watson is all personality! He is such a sweet guy and a little bit goofy but doesn't have a mean bone is his body. He's just 1 & half - 2 years old and is 75-80 pounds of love. He's dog friendly and kid friendly too although we'd recommend that he'd be best with children who are 10+ years because he's a bigger guy and doesn't always realize it. Watson just completed a board and train program and is doing great. He's obedient, kind, treat motivated and knows lots of commands. He loves getting attention and love and getting all the pets he can. He's a silly guy - he likes a good bone and to hide it on himself and then go find it.:). He's learning his sit, stay and down commands too!" Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info on sweet Watson!

Story
Meet Daredevil! He is the bravest superhero with no sight. This handsome young floof ball is about one year old and weighs 30 pounds. We are not exactly sure what breeds he has in him but we suspect something like Anatolian Shepherd or Great Pyrenees and he reminds us a little of an Akita!. Daredevil earned his name due to the fact that he has no eyeballs, and like the character himself is still the most brave of souls! Daredevil tries his best to be a normal dog, he will even use the potty pads when he needs to potty! The best way he has learned is by being with other dogs, his foster fur siblings truly helped bring him out of his shell, so he would thrive best in a home with another dog. His foster mom has done great at trying to introduce him to the outside world but as to be expected all the different noises can be a bit scary not being able to see what they are. Daredevil will need lots of training to adjust as he grows, but is the sweetest of boys you will ever meet. Interested in becoming this pup’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $650. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Meet Daisy!  Daisy has had a bit of a tough start to life..At just a few weeks of age she found herself looking for a home. Though it was thought she had found one, it was not meant to be - maybe she grew too large, maybe it was a financial decision, but certainly no fault of her own as she couldn’t be a more wonderful dog!  So, we added her to our pack and we are so glad we did!  Daisy is a total love….happy, playful, lots of energy, good with people, other dogs and cats. Although she hasn’t met children yet, her temperament indicates she will do just fine. She is still a puppy at heart though, and a large dog, therefore she will need all the usual puppy training to make her the best adult dog she can be. Let’s give Daisy the chance she deserves for a happy, loving, forever family!    Applications can be submitted through https://lgarinc.org/adoption-application/.  Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  All applications are subject to review and approval and a tax-deductible adoption donation is required to be paid prior to adoption day.   Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  Please be advised that we will not approve adoptions to persons who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on this application.  Incomplete applications will not be processed. Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old anyways 95 pounds. He was very thin when we first got him, but he’s looking great now. He is neutered, up-to-date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! If you would like to be Charlie’s forever family please email dogs4mylife@ gmail.com or olmc7@ hotmail.com. If you are inquiring from a Gmail address. It is best to use our Gmail address or you might have to look for us in your spam.
