Story
Current Location: Frederick, MD Meet Blackberry: A Loveable Companion Who Just Wants to Be Part of the Pack This curious, silly, utterly loveable boy has one simple wish: to be where his people are. Blackberry is the kind of puppy who will steal your heart with his affectionate nature and his deep desire to be included in every moment of family life. He adores being around adults, children, and other dogs, soaking up all the love and companionship he can get. Blackberry is food motivated and treat enthusiastic (he loves his Hills Science food, mini milk bone biscuits, cheese, and kongs stuffed with peanut butter), which makes training a joy. He's already shown he's a smart cookie who needs and enjoys mental stimulation like working kongs and treat dispenser puzzle balls. He's making progress on potty training with fewer accidents each day, and while he still has his baby teeth and can get nippy and mouthy as puppies do, he's learning what's appropriate to chew on with proper supervision. His energy comes in delightful bursts throughout the day, followed by content naps on his puppy bed near his people. At night, he loves to sleep with company, settling in peacefully when he's not alone. He enjoys different types of toys, from benebones for chewing to plush toys for playing, and he's curious about the yard, though he's still figuring out this whole leash walking thing and can be a bit scared and confused by it. Here's what Blackberry needs you to know: he really does not like to be alone. He will let you know with whines, howls, and his best protests that he wants to be part of the action. He's even shown his determination by breaking out of his crate because being separated from his family just isn't his style. Blackberry would thrive in a home with someone who works from home or is around during the day, ideally with children and other dogs who can be his constant companions. He needs a family who understands that his clinginess isn't a flaw but simply proof of how much love he has to give. If you're looking for a sweet, silly shadow who will follow you everywhere and fill your home with puppy joy, Blackberry is your boy.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hey all, I'm Sheila, a 60# gal 3 years old thought to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix of something!  Left at my disabled 'Grandma's House' by owners, Grandma had no way to care for me correctly. After a few months of trying, she turned me into a shelter in WV. Unfortunately Grandma didn't know it was a High Kill Shelter. YIKES! Double YIKES!! Fortunately, word went out far and wide, SAVE SHEILA, SAVE SHEILA! Cries were heard and I'm now in a loving foster home in Dillsburg. Got other doggie friends here to show me the ropes and I'm doing fine per foster mom/dad.  I did get my Christmas wish and was adopted, but sadly, I was returned ON CHRISTMAS! Not the gift I was looking for. The family, though nice, didn't know their abilities to walk a gal with energy. Yes, I admit I need walking skills yet, but foster mom, though old and gray, is able to walk me NO ISSUES. Guess we all are different. So, here's my story, Sad to be returned but that perfect family is out there!  Good with other dogs, people, children (not toddlers) I do admit my 'Zest for Life' does get the better of me with excitement with life it's self! Smart as a whip already knowing sit, down, give both paws, am crate trained & house trained, I do have a little stubborn streak thrown in for good measures! Now learning Patients, Sit and Wait at door and to eat. I do pull on a leash, but can learn or use of a Halti would stop that no problem.  NO Way am I going to be protective. So far I've shown only friendliness, kiss giving and a 'Lets Party Attitude' to new people.  My recall has improved but a Physical Fence/Underground Fence would be best for me. I am VERY FOOD MOTIVATED!  Life is short let's Start the New Year with a BANG Together!  Interested in meeting me?  Complete an on-line application at www.CastawayCritters.org/adopt. Story
hi Peach! This incredible lady is a 4 year Anatolian Shepherd. She was surrendered to our care with another Anatolian when their owner couldn't keep them anymore. She is 106 lbs. Peach is wonderful. She is gentle, sweet and happy. She loves being around people and enjoys lots of pets. She does well on the leash, allows all handling and is generally a very easy going lady. She does great with other dogs. Peach was adopted and then returned after nearly a year in her home when her owner's health began to decline. She will need to meet any resident dogs. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, 4dx tested and dewormed. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com Her adoption fee is $475. Story
Hello, my name`s Dakota. I am a sweet but nervous boy with a heart of gold and endless energy! I landed at the shelter after some hard times, so my family thought this was the best place to find me my `happily ever after`! Due to my shy and nervous nature, especially with strangers, I would like my new siblings to be 3 and older, but I may do well with a canine sibling that can keep up with me! I`m not sure how I feel about cats, but I think I could try with slow and proper introductions, but being a Shepherd breed I might like to give chase to them. I also like to escape so someone who has an extra tall fence or is able to keep a good eye on me would be super great, or even taking me on hikes and outdoor adventures would be perfect, since I like to run! Do I sound like the perfect `plus one` to your next adventure? If so, come on down to meet me today!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org
