Story
Meet Jessie, the gentle female American Blue Heeler with a heart of gold. Initially wary of humans, Jessie cautiously accepts pets and scratches once she feels comfortable, displaying her trust in subtle ways. Unlike most dogs, she isn't particularly food motivated but finds solace in the company of other canines, especially during outdoor play sessions. Jessie will require a home with another confident dog to help her feel comfortable and adjust to her new life. With a calm and chill energy, she exudes a sense of tranquility that is rare to find. Jessie is currently learning to walk on a leash, taking slow and steady steps towards mastering this skill. In need of a patient and understanding family, Jessie seeks a forever home where she can continue to decompress and blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. Eagerly awaiting adoption at National Mill Dog Rescue, Jessie dreams of finding a loving family who will embrace her for who she is and provide the patience and support she needs to thrive.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Jewel is One Gem of an Adventure Companion! Meet magnificent Jewel, a gorgeous 3 year old white heeler mix eager for fun! This active girl loves going on walks and making new furry friends along the way. Though she looks robust, Jewel enjoys keeping busy and will thrive in an equally energetic home. After playtime, this sweet girl is quite the cuddle bug, content to lazily chew on a toy or soak up some sunshine while resting. Jewel spent most of her recent life as a solo dog and will need some socialization to newcomers both human and animal. But she warms up quickly with proper introductions. Outgoing Jewel rides nicely in the car and makes an excellent alert companion, letting her people know whenever someone is at the door. All she wants is an active family to call her own that gives her plenty of devotion, playtime, and adventure together. Jewel will turn 3 in March - what better present than finding her happy furever home at last! If you’re seeking a loyal dog with just as much tenacious spirit as snuggly affection to give, look no further than darling Jewel! Story
This handsome boy is Woody (Woodrow). Woody is an almost 5 yr old herding dog mix (we actually have his DNA results!) While he doesn’t always give the best first impression, he has a super goofy personality once he gets to know you. While it also takes time to earn his trust, once you do he is super loyal and will want to follow you everywhere. Woody has been working on training to help his confidence and reactivity around new people and has proven a very quick learner. He has learned place and sit, and doing well with leash training. Woody prefers women over men and can be somewhat possessive, especially over certain toys. Since his confidence is improving, he could do well in a no dog home or with 1 or 2 other dogs. (His best friend in his foster home is Jolene- they would love to be adopted together, as long as they were the only dogs in the home!) Any more dogs in the home and he seems to get stressed and it negatively impacts his behavior. Due to his timid nature, he should not be in a home with young children. If you are looking for a goofy, energetic partner and are willing to put in a little extra effort, Woody will be the most loyal companion you could ask for!
