Duke, Huckleberry, Meadow, Remy, Little Anne, and Sarge are all affectionate, fun-loving pups who enjoy exploring, playing, and soaking up attention. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2619971##

Meet Gunner Gunner is a cattle dog mix puppy (about 30 lbs) with the sweetest heart and the softest soul. He’s a gentle, thoughtful boy who’s still building confidence, especially when meeting new people—but once he realizes you’re safe, he’s all in for cuddles, pets, and quiet companionship. Gunner would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help show him the ropes. He takes comfort in canine companionship and learns quickly by following their lead—whether it’s exploring new spaces, improving his leash skills, or settling in at home. Car rides are still new, but he’s already learning how to relax and lay down once he settles. We got Pepper from a neighbors friend! She has been with us for about 3 months and is 7 months young. Honestly the only things we are looking for in a new home is someone who has the time to care for her and give her loving home. She is pretty calm for a puppy. She loves to run around and is very smart. She knows sit, lay down and paw so far. She makes weird little moans when she is tired which is adorable. She sleeps in her cage overnight and just needs to be let out after drinking and eating throughout the day. She loves toys and chew toys. We really love Pepper and believe this is the best decision moving forward. We feel she just deserves better. She is a bit shy around other people but opens up once she gets to know someone! I am currently working on her with her leash and harness to get her more comfortable on one.
