*** In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society's physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. Story
Spaghett came to me through a private adoption. He's actually from Tunisia, but we've been living in Chicago together for 7 years now. I've had him since he was 3 months old and we've shared many fond memories together. He is a comfort when I'm down, has lots of energy, but has a very independent spirit that makes him a little difficult to control. I admire that in him, but it is also a challenge for me and for others. Spaghett is fairly reactive and overprotective of his humans towards other animals and some other humans. When he barks and lunges, the only thing to do is walk away from the situation. Spaghett and and I are truly best friends. I try to take him wherever I can, but that proves challenging when he doesn't get along with other animals. Spaghett is an extremely playful dog with me. I love playing with him, but he tends to nip, which I don't mind as it isn't painful. Looking for an active human for a wonderful companion that needs extra attention and space to run around.

Story
Root Beer is no stranger to ALIVE Rescue. She was rescued by us back in August of 2017. Root Beer came from a hoarding situation in Chicago where over 40 dogs and puppies were living. Many of the dogs had parvo and Root Beer broke with parvo on the day we were saving her. Luckily, after staying in the ER for several days, she survived. Root Beer has been adopted twice into two loving families since her rescue and we have learned a lot about what makes her happy in a forever home. She bonds quickly to one person in a home and that person becomes HER person. She feels a sense of responsibility to protect that person from everyone else living and visiting the home. At this time, we will only be adopting Root Beer into a home with ONE adult and no children. She also has to be the only animal in the home, so no other dogs or cats. Root Beer doesn't do well with city life where there are too many people, cars and dogs. She'd do best in a single family home in the suburbs. Whoever adopts this girl is going to be really lucky. She will keep you laughing all day long with her happy-go-lucky personality. She's a total goof ball. She likes to feel the wind in her fur. If you are active and like the outdoors, she's your girl. She loves to be outside just sitting and smelling Mother Nature. If she's not resting outside, she is exploring and roaming around. She flourishes at the beach and will walk right in and swim. When she's not busy exploring and being adventurous, you'll find this girl snoozing. She's an expert napper and has never met a blanket or pillow she doesn't love. Falling asleep to tummy rubs is kind of the best. When she's feeling affectionate she'll let you scratch her head and she'll burrow her head into your hand. Let's talk toys....this girl LOVES tennis balls and her favorite is to sprint after the ball & catch it mid-air. Squeaker toy stuffies are the name of the game. And she's really great with puzzle toys. She's a smartie. Speaking of smart, Root Beer also knows basic commands including Shake, Toy, Ball. She will even make her way to the door when you say "inside and knows her bed to be "Place. Training her is easy because she is VERY treat motivated. Not sold on her yet? Root Beer is completely housebroken and is not destructive. Double bonus! Interested in learning more about this girl? Visit aliverescue.org and complete the adoption application.

Story
Ace is a high energy 9 month old Australian Kelpie looking for a good home. He is house trained and has received a bit of crate and behavioral training. He needs an owner that has time for his high energy and high intelligence who is active and willing to teach him and keep him engaged. He is extremely loving always looking for affection and companionship. He has no history of aggression and currently gets up to an hour of exercise and play time everyday. Ace is still a puppy so he can be a bit mouthy but, has been around my young nephews ages 11 and 8 who are pretty rough and tumble and was good around them. However, as his owner I currently don’t have enough time to look after Ace and I believe he deserves a better home. Ace comes with a 36 in crate, elevated stainless steel dog bowls, a few of his favorite toys, and a shedding brush. He only needs to be brushed 1-2 times a week to keep his chocolate coat nice and clean accompanied by a bath every couple months/ as needed

Story
Jake is a goofy, handsome, friendly, social guy looking for a loving family! This sweet boy was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. He appears to be a mix of several shepherd and herding breeds, with some Beagle or other hound breed possibly mixed in for good measure! Jake is estimated to be around two years old and weighs about 40 pounds. A great medium size, not too large, not too small! Jake is a happy dog that is very excited about life! He loves making new friends and he loves other dogs. Jake is a total wiggle-butt of a dog! His tail is in constant motion, and he always has a smile on his face. It appears he has not had much training and can still be enthusiastic in his greetings and when excited, but he settles down quickly. Jake's ideal home will be with guardians who can help him work on his manners and some basic obedience, as well as guardians who can provide him with lots of exercise and playtime throughout the day. He is crate-trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. Jake is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. Jake is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org • Jake's adoption fee is $375. This donation helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other animals like Jake from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been submitted and approved.
