Story
Meet Copper! 34 lbs Approx age 6-7 months Male Red heeler mix Do you love a success story?? Do you also hate to be alone, love to be touched every second, and want a dog to gaze lovingly at you every time you glance in their direction? Then Copper is the guy for you! This heeler mix started life in horrible conditions, and was likely never in a home for the first months of his life. His family was saved in the literal 11th hour, and Copper made his way to Illinois be begin his Good Boy training. The last few weeks he has been working on his manners, maintaining a clean home, and socializing. His recall is great, and he would probably excel at agility training. A good home for Copper would meet his need for working his body and mind. Herding dog experience is a plus, but just like dogs, owners can be trained as well. If you have love, patience, and a good pair of walking shoes, Copper might be the handsome pup you have been looking for. Story
Meet Layla!! I am a very special girl named after my foster mom’s niece. I am 12 weeks, 5 lbs and an Aussie Chi mix. I am special girl because I suffered an injury causing me to be blind in one eye. My blue eye also has limited vision. The vet says my eye will need to be monitored but is not causing me any pain. But don’t worry, this hasn’t slowed me down!! I came up from Texas with my sister who did a great job looking out for me, but she’s just a puppy herself and needs someone to protect her. I have a fierce personality and am brave beyond my years. My favorite things are wrestling my Fosters golden, running around the neighborhood on my walks and playing with the other foster puppies. I get along with everyone and love to start the wrestling matches. I also like to sneak off to curl up next to the golden. Because of my vision, I like to taste things to explore them, my forever family will need to understand how to work with me to keep me safe and build even more confidence. I very much rely on other dogs, verbal commands and touch to reassure me that people won’t hurt me. I love kids too but they need to understand how I explore with my mouth. I am learning no bite, kisses, off, sit, touch, and walk nice. Like my sister, I am a true athlete! She’s got a few pounds on me but I am faster, more agile and can jump off anything! I also love to dig! My foster mom has to keep switching up my gates because I like to escape and run through the house. I also crawl underneath couches. My family will need to stay on their toes!! I would do best with a fenced yard as well due to my limited vision so I can run without worry! While balls and playing are great, the best thing is when my foster mom holds me. I love to cuddle and snuggle and get belly rubs. She tells me up so I don’t get scared anymore! I even let kids hold me! I am learning potty training and better than my sister (don’t tell her)! And sleep with her at night in our playpen. My dream family has other dogs, fenced yard and is active!! Older kids might be better due to my challenges however I did great with toddlers when I met them. Are you my perfect family? Story
Hi my name is Victoria, but my foster family calls me Tori! I'm the sweetest snuggle bug! I love people and prefer to be close with my humans. I do well with other dogs, I have a foster brother who I love, but I haven't been around cats. I was a new Mama who was very skinny when I arrived from Texas, but I'm an excellent eater and gaining weight. I'm currently around 40 pounds and 2 years old! I'm am a herding dog, so I do try to herd my foster brother, and my ears stick straight up when I see a squirrel, but I'm very gentle to other dogs. I'm an excellent walking companion, and a perfect angel on a leash. I love walks or just being in my yard. I'm a pretty quiet girl who loves lounging on the couch, chewing on bones or going on car rides. Toys were new to me, but I have discovered I love to play. I'm doing pretty well with my potty training as long as I'm on a schedule. I love treats, so that always helps me remember to go outside! At first I hated my crate, but now when my foster parents show me my kong, and say crate I go right in and sleep soundly through the night. I'm in my crate when they are at work, and I only whine for a few minutes after they leave. I love kids, and getting all the love. I currently live with two four year olds and a nine year old, and they are always loving on me. It's never quiet at my foster home, so the loud doesn't bother me. I'm looking for my forever family, maybe that's you! Love, Victoria Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). .
